Answer:	It is very likely this wick will fit your Perfection 500 - if the 500 model came before the 525. The product info states compatible with "525 and earlier models" Really, for the price - it's worth a try. I was very satisfied with how it works and how easy it was to install once I figured it all out since the heater is from the 1930s.
Question:	How thick is the cotton wick itself, not the diameter of the metal piece? 2mm? 4mm
Answer:	The wick is approximately 4mm. It is NOT OVER 5mm at the most and NOT less than 3mm. I don't think it can be squeezed thinner than 2mm if you tried. Replacement working absolutely great!

Answer:	Inside the wick tube are four long cloth wicks that hang into the fuel tank. They easily pull out when you install it.
