Question:	It's nov 2020, why can't i get this item shipped to me in california
Answer:	I just got this yesterday, it does have the plastic/chemical smell also. I talked to Holmes support and they said that it could take up to 2 weeks for the smell to wear off. I'm inclined to believe them based on other plastic products like this I've purchased. I'm going to take the filter out and run it on low in a separate room for a few hours a day and see if that speeds the process up.

Answer:	The filters hard on systems are those mesh metal. Hard for the air to get through. This type is very good and seem to last longer that the cheap blue no pleated filters.I am pleased with mine and only use this type in my unit that works 12 months ..AC and then Heat. Just make sure the size is correct for your unit.
