Answer:	I am having the same problem. I’ve owned the Aircare 1201 for several years and it looks and works like new, but this winter season I’ve gone through several wicks. I use bacteriostat as always but with these wicks they will begin to smell sour after a couple weeks. I will soak them in water and white vinegar for 20 minutes, rinse well, and it helps for about a week and then the smell returns. The unit is perfectly clean and I clean and sanitize it per instructions, so something’s up with these filters. They must be manufactured from a difference source. This process is way too labor intensive and shouldn’t be necessary. Can’t handle the sour smell and thinking it may be worse than no humidifier. Would love a solution short of buying another unit that would use a different filter.

You may want to clean some of the yellowish build up, soaking the filter in a bucket with a mix of water and dish washer liquid for a few hours and then squeezing gently. Let it dry over a towel on a flat surface. I always keep a second filter just in case it gets damaged.

Once the tank is filled you will replace the water tank cap back on, this will hold the water in the tank. When the water tank is placed onto the base some water will transfer from the water tank to the base, this is normal as the mist is created in the base of the unit.

Answer:	Are you using fresh water each day? I've had this for a month or so and haven't notched that.. I rinse it out and put fresh water in it each night, and have given it a good clean once a a week. I use young living thieves cleaner.. I spray the inside and use a small scrub brush and spray with the kitchen faucet sprayer.

Tap water often contains a high level of minerals such as calcium and magnesium, resulting in hard water. When hard water is used in a humidifier, these minerals disperse into the air, causing a white dust to settle on furniture. The Crane humidifier filter counters the effects of hard water, trapping minerals before they can disperse and cause white dust.

The filter is designed for use with Crane Germ Defense Humidifiers (sold separately) in manual and digital models.

Easy Installation

Soak filter for 30 minutes in a separate container to activate the filter. Simply screw pre-soaked filter onto tank cap and securely insert into full water tank. Place full water tank onto water basin and wait fifteen minutes for the water to pass through the filter before starting the humidifier.

For best results, replace the filter after every 30 to 40 fillings or every one to two months. The filter should also be replaced if the humidifier has not been used for an extended period of time.

Answer:	We recommend that you replace the filter , and then try to follow the below operation. **Sponge Filter sticks should be replaced every 20-30 days at minimum, If you regularly use essential oils, need replace 3-10 days. **To see a better performance,we advise user to soak a filter stick to be wet completely before inserting to the humidifier and turning it on. **Leave the filter wick (cotton stick) in water for 2-3 minutes, make sure the filter wick is completely wet. Long time dry-running of the humidifier could cause damages. To avoid this, please add water or turn the humidifier off in time. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact us.
