Answer:	I would think that a 9 Volt lithium would be safer than an alkaline. These water detectors are supposed to signal low battery life. But you have to hear it and in fact it has to signal. The extra money for the lithium is worth it. There is no reason not to use lithium.

Question:	Does this detector work by itself
Answer:	I have owned my only 1 week. It’s a 9 volt battery and my guess depends on the quality of battery and how often it is triggered or alarm sounding. I would guess that you should test it regularly and replace it when the low battery alarm sounds or 1 year, whichever is shortest.
Question:	How long the batteries last
Answer:	There are 2 small metal nodes that you can see on the outside in the picture. When moisture connects the 2 nodes the alarm sounds. I test these devices with a moistened finger, not much water at all. Very high humidity can trigger them as well, that is, humidity above atmospheric norm.

1. Cooling System Leakage Test

2.1 Removing the original radiator cap from the radiator or expansion tank.

2.2 Choose the appropriate adapter from the test set and connect it to the radiator or expansion tank.

2.3 Now connect the hand pump to the adapter.

2.4Press the test pump until pressure of 10 to 15psi is reached.

2.5 CAUTION: Avoid a pressure of 35 psi or more!

Check the pressure gauge. If the displayed value decreases, the leakage is in the cooling system.

2.6The cooling system has a leak, if there is pressure drop or water loss,.

2. Radiator Cap Leakage Test

2.1 Remove the original radiator cap.

2.2 Choose the appropriate joint 2a or 2b and connect it to the radiator cap.

2.3Press the test pump for few times and watch the pressure gauge. The pressure falling if the cap is defective.

2.4Compare the measured pressure values with the standard-pressure of radiator cap.
