The problem is if I want to have my feet or toes on the floor (I'm 5'5") then the chair isn't quite high enough for the counter height without a bit of stretching, but it rolls really easy so you can raise the chair high enough and pull yourself around the countertop and stove area without needing to touch the floor. I manage with my toes touching the floor and a bit of stretching. I also have a table that's lower than the counter so I can cut vegi's safely.

Answer:	The actual seat is very wide perhaps 20 inches. At 320 pounds I fit in it easily.
