Answer:	The gel used in pillows and mattresses is quite heavy by comparison, yes. I think the extra weight is a good idea for a wedge pillow, because it keeps it from slipping out from under you as much as one without the gel would.

Answer:	I laid on my side and on my back, It really help to reduce my snoring and I slept sound. when sleeping on my side I used a pillow so my neck was straighter, but when on your back your head fits great in the valley..this is not for belly sleepers
