Answer:	Hey KenI own EliteSmartHome.com and am familiar with Poe. Standard Poe allows for 15.4 watts per port. Poe plus (which this switch does not seem to be) allows for 25.5 watts per port. Also mind the overall amperage that a switch is rated for. Good rule of thumb is to only use 80% of what a switch is rated for. I hope this helps!

Answer:	I don't have this switch, but according to the description 24 of the ports are POE, but you need to make sure the power supply in the switch will support that also.

Answer:	It seems crazy that they would not support untagging ports to vlans other that the default vlan1. Have you ran into switches that do not support this? Do they just call it 5 port because one port plugs in and 4 ports go out? Why not call it 4 port , which is really what it is?" ...it is 5 ports that are bidirectional (in your terms, both 'in and out'). If your brain associates one of those ports for a specific purpose such as an 'uplink' (and downlink, doh!) to the Internet, then your association needs have been fulfilled by one of the available ports...and your other 4 ports may be associated for other goals sought by your brain. If you happened to have 3 ports that go to the east end of your room and 1 that goes to the west end of your room, we're pretty sure that the networking equipment doesn't understand which end(s) of your house you decided to run cable...or for which purpose you intended, such as a 'computer' or a 'router' or a 'printer' or whatever else is your associated purpose for the endpoint.

Answer:	It should work fine. Keep in mind this is a gigabit switch and cat8 would more typically be used for 10gb networking but its all compatible.

Answer:	Your configuration should look like this: (Internet) Cable -> ARRIS TG1672G -> Port 1, 2, 3, or 4 -> Netgear 8-Port Switch Your Cable Modem provides 4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports and when you connect the Netgear 8-Port switch you lose 2 ports (one on the cable modem & one on the Netgear and end up with 10 Gigabit Ethernet Ports instead of 4. No configuration is needed. If one of the devices you're adding is a Wi-Fi router, then your configuration will look like this: (Internet) Cable -> ARRIS TG1672G -> Port 1 -> Wi-Fi Router -> Netgear 8-Port Switch. If you want all devices to be able to see each other, then you can have up to 7 of them plugged into the Netgear Router.

Answer:	No. It's top speed is Gigabit (1000 Mbps), but it will work with 10/100 Mbps devices well. It's not just limited to Internet but any devices that wish to communicate with each other i.e. computer to Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, etc ... and usually those devices have gigabit Ethernet ports so they can communicate with each other at the gigabit speeds.

Question:	Can systems like these be linked in a line? I mean instead of the satellite units having to be within range of the router, can I daiseychain them out
Answer:	Regardless if Orbi can be daisy chained with wired cable ... if you can daisy chain routers, why not just set up an AP system. If you can hard wired the AP, there is no need for Orbi and you get much better performance. As to daisy chaining Orbi, yes, you can do that.. but that defeats the purpose of using Orbi. The main technological advantage with Orbi is its ability to have a 3rd backhaul channel through wireless connection. If you can using hard wired... just go with the proven WLAN AP (http://pigtail.azurewebsites.net/tp-link/large-building.PNG)... my organization use it to deploy over 200 wireless devices on the same lan without much overhead degradation.
Question:	Is it 100 - 240 Volts
Answer:	It all depends upon where you buy it. In the USA it is supplied with 115V power supplies one for the router and one each for the Satellites, this is OK of you live in the USA or somewhere where they have 115v power in the homes. If you live in the UK buy them in the UK they come with 240v power supplies, so they are OK for the UK, but come with the UK 3 pin sockets. In Europe theu come with two pin European adaptors suitable for Europes 220 v power. The problem is if you buy it in one country and want to run it in another. Netgear do not sell the power supplies separately. I bought mine in the Black Friday sales in the USA and brought them to the UK. I had to buy power supplies from Germany that were suitable for 240 volts and adaptors for continental to UK sockets. Be careful, you ned to know exactly what the pin size is the pin lengt and the pin inside and pouside diameters. To save you hassle you need Plug-in power supply unit, 12 V, 1000 mA, with -ve polarity on the outside The pin that plugs into the ORBI should be 5.5mm outside diameter and the socket 2.5mm inside diam. The length of the pin is 12mm.

Answer:	As of April/late May 2018, the latest firmware 2.1.4.10 has not only broken ethernet backhaul, but it also takes down your entire network such that no device can connect to the Internet if you leave the ethernet cable connected to satellite. There is no way to disable auto update of the firmware. I have had an open support case for nearly one month and have spent many, many hours in that time trying to troubleshoot. Never had this kind of issue with my Airport Extremes, which is no longer made, so I thought Orbi would be a good replacement given all the positive professional reviews. Answer:	FiOS already has an ONT on site. this is compatible, but will not transmit data for your STBs (For TV) such as guide and VOD.

Question:	Does this support 10gbe
Answer:	No it is just a gigabit switch, 1 gps. Also, there are no uplink ports on this switch, some switches (mostly managed high end) have uplink ports that will do 10gbe.
Question:	If i have true poe cameras, do i still need a poe injector, or will this switch allow me to connect 4 camera feeds to one output to the nvr receiver
Answer:	Provided your cameras adhere to the 48V POE standard adopted by cisco, polycom, yealink, grandstream and others, then all is fine - but some consumer targeted devices cheat and use 12V power injectors with their own creative pseudo-POE putting 12V wall warts wired onto pairs of the Ethernet cable with their own (cheap) "power injectors" which are not compatible with the Ieee POE definition. I have yet to find a POE inserter that used 48V and was not compliant, so usually the voltage of the wall wart that ships with the product will guide you down the right path.
Question:	Will this switch do 24v passive? The description is insanely vague
Answer:	No. This provides 802.3af and 802.3at. The common 24v PoE used in this arena is a non-standard form favored by Mikrotik and Ubiquiti. For that, you are looking for an Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch/ToughSwitch. There may be others. It is safe to say that if a device supports 24v Passive PoE it will say so. 24v Passive is not a standard but is very common in WISP equipment. Devices which only say they support 'PoE' are indicating that they support 802.3af.
