I read up on it and it sounds like certain people have this happen while others are unaffected. Answer:	Yes, it is automatic shut off. You can't, for example, have a one-hour massage unless you keep resetting the controls. However, I don't use one anymore because I had two within six months. Both broke. The company replaced the first one very quickly. But I just gave up on the second one. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
