Answer:	As of September 2018, the feeders Amazon sends have a redesigned base. The bottom is no longer just cast metal. It is now plastic and cast metal. Also, if you use the threaded part of the bottom, to attach to a pole or for a tray, it is now just a single thread, not threaded several turns. It does not hold well. I do not like the redesigned base at all.

Answer:	Hello I am a backyard birder and would go thru one bag every 2 weeks. I believe that they put expiration dates on their products. I have been purchasing these Sunflower seed from Amazon and they have always been fresh. They always have an expiration date on their bags. I purchase other seeds from this manufacturer. I order the Nyjer seeds from them and currently have a bag with an expiration date of 9/20/19. Seeds should always be kept in cool places. I have approximately 53 goldfinches, a lot of morning doves, Baltimotr Orioles hummingbirds etc. I have never had any problems with any seeds I purchased from this manufacturer
Question:	Could I fit the larger seeds through a jar opening that is 1/2 inch
Answer:	The only answer that makes sense to me is this: The shipping weight is in metric units where a metric pound is 500 grams. The "Wagner" weight is in imperial units. where an imperial pound is approx. 450 grams. So a metric shipping weight of 18 pounds (where a pound is 500 grams) is the equivalent of approx. 20 lbs in imperial units (where a pound is approx. 450 grams. Thus the metric shipping weight can be less than the imperial "Wagner" weight.
Question:	Does "Intended for the current and the following growing season." mean
Answer:	Don't know why it's now more per-pound in the larger bag. Doesn't make sense. When I bought it, the 40-pound bag cost less than it does now, maybe around $35 (don't remember the exact price). It's sounds like either Wagner's thinks consumers are dumb or that the company has just mispriced it. If the pricing continues as is, I'd just buy two 25-pound bags. That's a dollar a pound, instead of $1.125 a pound, and the 25-pound bags are easier to handle, too. Assuming you have Prime, shipping is free. I'd also check the price at your local Lowe's, Home Depot or similar -- sometimes they have better deals than Amazon.

Answer:	The birds were not interested in this seed at all. Ended up feeding the squirrels and chipmunks with it. They were not as finicky as he birds

Answer:	I bought the "greatest variety" blend when I first got my feeder. The birds liked that but they go crazy over this stuff. It's rare that I don't have three or even four birds on one tiny feeder. Cardinals, finches, jays, cowbirds, just about everyone comes by for a snack. I even saw a pileated woodpecker once, though he seems to have moved on. I live in the center of the mid-Atlantic states in a fairly densely populated subdivision surrounded by strips of trees.

Answer:	Absolutely none of the seeds are treated or coated with pesticides. That was an issue for Scott's bird seed. Never Wagners bird seed.

Question:	Do these have the shells still on them
Answer:	I just planted these yesterday. They don't come in individual packets but I counted the different seeds and there were 15 varieties or more. Varies between the larger seeds the squirrels dig up and the small type. I'm looking forward to see what grows and they were healthy and I'm sure they growing. Hope this helps. There was a good amount of seeds, filling my strip that is in the sun about 3 feet wide and 30 feet long.

Question:	Will these seeds be too small for a wire-screened black-oil sunflower seed feeder? I usually fill the feeder with the whole black-oil sunflower seed
Answer:	Drill Yankees does make a thistle version of this feeder with different ports. You might have to buy it directly from them. This one will not work with thistle.

Answer:	The plastic tube of the Droll Yankees B7F is 3 1/2 inches in diameter and 20 inches tall. The 7 x 7 x 24 inches that is listed on the Droll Yankees site refers to the overall dimensions of the unit including perches and hanger wire. Essentially, that is the size of the shipping box.

Question:	Do these sunflower seeds work for sprouting? Has anyone tried sprouting them
Answer:	They will sprout (some of them anyway), but they didn't work for spouting for me because only about half of them sprouted, and the other half sat there a rotted, and there's no real way to cull those out of there. I was looking for hulled seeds for spouting, and the ones i found were very expensive (twice the price for half as much), but if all the seeds are going to sprout, it might be worth it.
