| Answer: | definitely a no no, I assume your trying to install caliber pistons, only brake fluid should be used inside of the brake system, caliber, wheel cylinder etc. Anything else will swell rubber seals in a brake system and cause leakage and failure. You can cut a strips of plastic say 2 inches wide and long enough to wrap around the piston with very little overlap to help slide the pistons in. Rebuilders lube the seal and piston up liberally with brake fluid and push them in using the a piece of wood like the end of a hammer, just be careful about rocking the piston when pushing in you can cut a seal doing that. This stuff is meant only for caliber slide bolts or pins, or where the ends of pads where they slide on the caliber or brake shoes where they rub against the backing plate. Use sparingly where there are rubbing surfaces so they it doesn't get on the brake pad/shoe surface. If your thinking about the exterior portion of the piston it isn't necessary and actually accumulate brake residue etc and possible seize the piston down the road |
