Answer:	It takes 2 18650 rechargeable batteries. You can google sources, but I like battery junction. I have plenty spares, but keeping the light charged is the best bet for me.

Answer:	I haven't had it for a year yet but have left it in a drawer for several months and took it our recently and it was still charged.
