Answer:	We have only had the cover for a short time and our seats are leather. We have had no problems with the backing rubbing off to date.

Answer:	I use mine for a 3' opening and it works perfectly because the sides bend in to keep the gate standing. While it would stretch across your opening, I don't know how sturdy it would be w/o having the sides tilt in. If it were me, I wouldn't do it for the space that big.

Answer:	Not tall at all. About a foot and a half. My experience is that it is good for dogs 4 years and up that are small and who cannot knock things over. Answer:	I used this carrier traveling across the country on both AirTran and Southwest. It fits okay. You wouldn't want it any larger though. The end of the carrier that you push furthest under the seat in front of you gets a little bit crunched, because the underside of the seat in front of you slopes down a little bit. There was still room for my pet, however, and she even exceeds this carrier's recommended size. You do have to push and shove a bit to get it under the seat. Since this carrier is soft-sided it allows for a some flexibility when doing that. All in all, it worked out fine and I'm very happy with the carrier.
