User questions & answers

Question: Can this product be safely applied to a wooden bowl that will be eaten out of? Once the bowl is polished and dry, will it be safe to eat out of
Answer: Mine arrived in the summer in a similar "frozen" form. I didn't heat it in any way; but, yes, a serious "man"-shaking is required to get it into a more integrated, still-thick, but pour- or squeeze-able form. Its state is a good indicator that the product is in fact wax and oil, and not water-based.
Question: Will this get rid of beverage rings on an oak table
Answer: I recommend Howard Orange Oil. It cleans wood items fantastically well, and I prefer it to Murphy's Oil Soap. I have all three products and the Orange Oil cleans and shines so well that I don't bother with the Feed N Wax most times. If I could only have one product to use with wood furniture and antiques I would choose the Orange Oil, but both it and the Feed N Wax are excellent products. I completely rejuvenated a depression era walnut buffet server, an old floor standing radio and a dried out and filthy butcher block style maple work bench with Orange Oil. It cleans better than Murphy's Oil Soap (or any other product I have ever used) and is absorbed by dry wood better than the Feed N Wax. It works wonders on old tool handles as well, such has hammers, axes, and shovels. And as a bonus, it cleans rust off the tools really well too.
Question: Is this supposed to be a thick wax or a liquid product? Mine arrived and I'm wondering if it got frozen. It's thick
Answer: Would be more than enough, I use the 1000 watt version to run my 4 6x8's.
Question: what should I clean wood furniture with first
Answer: This amp is almost 150 w rms. It is poor in power. I sold mine. In less money than the amount that I pay. Becouse it is poor.

User questions & answers

Question: How do you use it? mix with water
Answer: Hi -- Do not mix with water -- this product is ready to use -- apply the product to the rag and use on your wood surface. Thanks for the inquiry. Ken
Question: does it come in a glass or plastic bottle
Answer: Plastic bottle
Question: This item is less than $4 in the stores, why are you charging so much? Guess I'll drive over to Target
Answer: I live 120 miles from the nearest Target so that is why I order it from Amazon. I live in a rather remote area. And apparently a lot of people who take care of the wood in their homes don't ask for this in any store closer to me. Therefore I order it from Amazon.
Question: How much of this is real oil vs. mineral oil? With the low price, I'm guessing that there is very little lemon oil
Answer: In response to Francine ( 5years ago, but still...) This product is actually 90-100% MINERAL OIL, which IS a petroleum distillate. I don't know if maybe Francine meant to say there is no LEMON OIL, which is true, but there is MINERAL OIL. It's actually very similar to baby oil, it seems, with just a different fragrance. There are warnings about ingesting baby oil too. Mineral oil isn't toxic itself, but there is danger of aspiration pneumonia if it is ingested.

User questions & answers

Question: What do you use to buff with to get a high gloss finish? Has anyone tried this on artwork
Answer: First, you will not get a high gloss finish unless the item already has one. You will get a protective coating that will enhance the depth of the finish and, if there is a gloss effect already, will enhance the gloss. But if applying Ren Wax over a matte finish, you will not get a gloss. I use this a lot on older Smith & Wesson revolvers, which are known for the depth of their dark, dark blue finish, and do get enhance gloss as well as some suppression of minor scratches, but the gloss is already there, just heightened by the wax. That said, I just use an old t-shirt - as good as anything else. Or you could invest in that old cabinetmaker's standby, cheesecloth, which might be the best choice for very delicate items.
Question: Does this work well on protecting Damascus steel? I have several knives in my collection and looking for the best protection for them
Answer: If you want your steel blades to last, one of the very best methods is the one used for traditional Japanese blades. It took months to polish a Samurai sword, and the finish was flawless. Any accumulated rust would have to be polished out by taking it to a polisher. This was expensive. A tightly sealed real lacquer scabbard and 100% pure clove oil on the blade periodically was the solution of choice, and a brilliant one. Real lacquer is hydrophilic, so removes water from the environment. Clove oil is a highly effective antioxidant and smells very nice as well. Blades stored this way will stay pristine indefinitely. Never leave fingerprints on a steel blade - they will rust because of the salt in sweat. I doubt waxing would cause any problems, but any spot missed and you will see corrosion eventually. However, wax can hold water, so I do not trust it. The clove oil is also very thin, so spreads well into cracks, etc. Never put the knife into a scabbard dirty - ever - the dirt will get trapped and scratch the blade. Blood is particularly caustic to steel for those of you who hunt. If you are taking it into the field, bring a rag soaked in oil in a ziplock bag with you for cleaning after use. Never store a steel blade in a metal scabbard. It will condense water and rust the blade. If this is too much work, I've had excellent results using Rig 2 gun oil. I have had a Malay Kris on the wall with no scabbard (It did not have one when I bought it.) for years with nothing but a coat of Rig 2 on it and it does not rust. I reapply maybe once or twice a year. Extremely good gun oil. The product here is a furniture wax - a very different problem indeed. It is no doubt a superb furniture wax.
Question: What do you apply it with to jewelry
Answer: I don't have any jewelry.I use it to protect the steel blades on my 13 Katana swords and the brass on my Henry rifle and the metal on my two handguns. I have used cotton balls or microfiber cloths to apply. Jack
Question: Your description says 200 mL but your picture is 65ml which one do you get
Answer: i did not provide the picture but i bought the 200 ml size. more product, better price. can be used on more than just wood; plastics, metals. dries very quickly and eliminates finger prints. buy the big size, you only need a little but will last a lot longer.
