Answer:	If the color turns orange after 3 days, you might still have bacteria in the water sample but less likely to be coliform bacteria, or it is a very low concentration (below 1 CFU/ml). I would recomend in such cases to keep the vial another day and to retest the sample to see if you get the same result. If the color changes to purple after 4-5 days, it could just be residues from dead coliform bacteria. If the color stays dark orange, it is most likely a sign that you have other type of microorganisms (bacteria of mold) that can grow in the media used in the vial, but it does not produce Beta-galactosidase enzyme - not a coliform bacteria.

The instructions call for it to be read at 48 hours. I left mine after that and continued to check it each day. My first test I did it at about 3 days after we had added our bleach. It stayed yellow. The second test I waited until 7 days after we added bleach to sample the water. This second test was still yellow after 48 hours, however, I noticed it was just a little off color of the first sample so I waited longer and continued to check it each day. I think it was 4-5 days, I noticed that it did in fact turn very purple. Purple or orange indicates the presence of bacteria, but it was a low amount since it did not grow after 48 hours. Answer:	I'm not certain who guarantees that the product is "Rated #1", but I can tell you that when the directions are followed correctly that the kit does work. I see many negative reviews and even one woman who swears that she tested a cup that contained lead and proved that the kit was useless who obviously do not know how to use this kit correctly. I've used several of these kits over the last nearly seven years and have discovered things that contain lead that I would have never even dreamed would contain lead-- many of them touched by and easily accessible to children. Usage

Always perform hand hygiene before disinfecting.

Directions

1. Put on PPE.
2. Remove gross soil if present or if disinfecting for C. difficile spores.
3. Spray/pour liquid onto surface until completely wet.
4. Wait for the contact time (3 minutes for all pathogens listed on the product label).
5. Wipe surface with clean, damp cloth to remove residue buildup.
