User questions & answers
Question: | can you charge other brand batteries in this charger |
Answer: | I have this charger and it will not charge any brand battery except the Eneloop battery. Do not Buy it for other batteries, it will not work. I bought it based on reviews and that I have about 20 NiMH batteries of various brands. Not one of the 20 would charge on this charger. |
Question: | Must you charge 4 batteries at a time OR can you charge, say 2 with 2 open slots |
Answer: | The Panasonic BQ-CC17 can recharge 1, 2, 3 or 4 AA/AAA cells at once. You don't need to charge in pairs like in the case of old MQN06 charger. |
Question: | i just received the charger and i do not see any indicator lights on mine. anybody |
Answer: | Just to update this - the chargers shipping now have hidden lights (unlike the product picture). To see them charger must be plugged in with batteries in place. NOTE: To clarify the paper comment - the batteries are shipped in the charger in the charging position. Before first use, remove all four batteries and you will find a small piece of cardboard paper at the top covering the positive charging contacts. This paper is to be discarded. Put the batteries back in position, plug in charger to working circuit and you will then see the now hidden lights under the white plastic "skin" below each battery. This is still true as of 11/2018. |
Question: | What is the difference between the Panasonic K-KJ17KHCA4A Eneloop Pro vs the Panasonic K-KJ17MCA4BA? Which is a better choice to buy |
Answer: | The pro cells hold about 25% more capacity under use before you have to charge it. That translates to longer run times for things like hiking GPS and high powered flashlights and wireless microphones in constant use. The trade off is that the pro cells don't retain a charge when stored which is good if you normally plan to drain the battery within a few days of charging it. In a TV or DVD remote control, the pro cells would have to be charged at least once every several months, where the regular cells will last for years without charging in remote controls that are not used daily. So far, I have never had an Eneloop battery ever leak, where I have had several expensive remote controls and headlamp LED's destroyed by leaking modern alkaline batteries. Modern alkaline batteries will often start leaking while still performing and still many years before the best used date has arrived. Modern warrantees for alkaline batteries only cover the battery that fails to perform, not the expensive device that was destroyed by the leaking alkaline battery. I have had several Duracell batteries start leaking while still unused in the original package stored in a cool dry place (basement) and still have a few years before the best used date has arrived. Today's alkaline batteries are junk. The standard Eneloop battery seems to be the most dependable battery I have ever found. They cost more, but the extra cost is worth it. Other brands of NiMH batteries I use often don't hold a charge in storage. The supposed lower voltage compared to alkaline is not the whole truth. Under extreme low power loads, alkaline battery voltage is higher, but under higher loads like cameras and flashlights, the alkaline battery voltage drops lower than NiMH battery within a second of the time the load is applied and then goes back up to resting voltage after the load is turned off. After an alkaline battery looses around 20% of its original charge, it is performing worse than a rechargeable NiMH battery and many devices like cameras can't take that drop in voltage. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the charger be used to charge other brands of Ni-MH batteries. A little tired of each brand claiming only their charger will do it properly |
Answer: | Yes, a Ni-MH battery is a Ni-MH battery. They say that their charger can only charge their batteries because of legal liability reasons, and so you'll but more of their batteries after you buy the charger ;) Most chargers can detect when it's fully charged because the voltage drops a little when it is, as in 5 mv to 10 mv. The percentage of how much power a battery has is from the voltage. e.g. the peak voltage of most high capacity Ni-MH batteries is between 1.45 to 1.55 volts. I know it says it's nominally 1.2 volts but I think that's when it reaches 0% just like a lead acid batteries in vehicles, they're fully charged at 13.2 volts even though they're called 12 volt batteries. I don't understand the world! I mean a smaller number for gauge means it's thicker?! That doesn't make any sense at all! D: I like turtles. |
Question: | Are there any differences between this charger and the NC-MQN06U not in terms of form factor but in terms of functionality and charging |
Answer: | The new BQ-CC17 charges each cell independently. The old MQN06 charges in pairs only. Other than that, they have exactly the same charging current (hence charging time). |
Question: | Should you remove the batteries from the charger once they're charged or can you leave them on |
Answer: | Ditto the 11/30/2014 comment, no need to leave them on once they are charged; I usually remove them once I see they're charged. |
Question: | If I use these for photography flashes -- why would I use the pro version instead of the regular ones? I'm confused as to how they are better |
Answer: | The Eneloop Pro have a higher capacity than the standard ones (roughly 2,450 vs. 1900, about 29% greater); all other things being equal you will get more flashes per battery change. Note that different generations have different performance ratings. In some cases the Pro are rated for fewer charge cycles, however; the Lite versions when available have even less capacity per charge, but more charge cycles. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is in the ppackage and where are they made in |
Answer: | The package contains 4 made in Japan standard eneloop AA 2000mAh batteries and the new BQ-CC55 3 hour quick charger made in China. Pretty much every charger is made in China but only the best batteries are made in Japan. The batteries that came in this kit had a June 2016 manufacture date confirming these are the newest 5th generation available. The charger is based on the award winning BQ-CC17 "Advance" individual charger with several key upgrades: faster charging in less than half the time and "state of charge indicator colored LED Lights". With these features and key safety features it is in my opinion the highest quality Automatic wall charger available. It Quickly and safely chargers high quality NIMH LSD batteries to their optimum potential. |
Question: | How can i know if the battery is fully charged if the green LED lights up at just 80% charged |
Answer: | Based on my observation (by monitoring the input power consumption of the charger), as soon as the LED turns Green, the corresponding battery is 100% fully charged. That means you can safely remove it for use.Otherwise, you can wait until all batteries are fully charged, at which point all Green LEDs are turned off. |
Question: | Can this charger be used for any rechargeable batteries and will of charge within 3 hours as advertised. Can the white or black be used in this charge |
Answer: | First, you can use the BQ-CC55 to recharge any brand of rechargeable NiMH batteries in AA/AAA formats.Second, charge Time depends on the ratio of Capacity and charging Current. When charging 1-2 AA cells, Current=1400mA. So to recharge a 2000mAh cell takes about 1.5 hours (2000mAh/1400mA). When charging 3-4 AA cells, the Current drops to 700mA. So charge time is doubled. |
Question: | How is 3 hours a quickcharge? Just curious |
Answer: | Well lets see, it has four independent channels with the following output: 1.5V 750mAx4(AA) and 1.5V 275mAx4(AAA) batteries. So this basically translates to 3 hours for a 2300mAh (AA) battery and a 800mAh (AAA) battery. It has four independent LED indicator lights which change colors based on the charge level or if there's a problem with a particular battery. Red: below 20%, Orange: Over 20% but below 80%, Green: 80-90+% but below 100%. The LEDs turn off once a battery has fully charged. Also a blinking red light means there's a problem with a battery, should this happen unplug the charger wait at least 30 seconds and check that the batteries are properly loaded; then plug it again and if you still get a blinking red LED light then that means a particular battery is no longer able to be recharged. Well I hope this helps ;-) |

Question: | why is my charger blinking when i have the batteries in |
Answer: | Mine works? No noise. I've only used it 2 times for charging batteries? |
Question: | Will this work fine with 230V input? Since I will be using this in India where the input voltage is 230V |
Answer: | No, the batteries are not included with the charger! |
Question: | Can you charge AA and AAA at the same time in this charger |
Answer: | Charges both my white and black Eneloops. |
Question: | Can this charge older type NiMH batteries? I have plenty of AA/AAA batteries (Duracell, Energizer, Panasonic) which are 3-7 years old...Thx |
Answer: | Based on the manufacturer specifications shown on Amazon the model number for both colors is identical: BQ-CC55SBA. Therefore I would expect the internal design and operation to be identical except for color. I did notice the black unit spec shows an additional charge time parameter for the newer black pro battery. Charging 4 AA of the black pro battery (2550 mAh) takes 4 hours while the white regular battery (2100 mAh) takes 3 hours. The difference is the battery capacity, 2550 mAh versus 2100 mAh. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long does it take to fully charge these aa batteries with my eastshine s2 charger |
Answer: | The charger claims it will charge them in 2 hours, right on the product description page. Maths tell us the S2 fast charger charges @1A per hour and the batteries hold 2A. Protip, if you start answering a question with, "I don't know, but..." or, "I don't own one, but..." you have failed and most people ignore the rest of whatever you wrote. |
Question: | is it made in china |
Answer: | From eneloop101.com In 2014 Panasonic started producing eneloop batteries in China. The "made in China" eneloops are available in the Asian market, including New Zealand and Australia. The Made in Japan batteries for the Japanese -, North American- and European market. |
Question: | Do the Eneloop batteries require an Eneloop charger or can they be charged in other AA and AAA battery chargers |
Answer: | The Sanyo/Panasonic eneloop cells can be recharged in any good-quality charger designed for NiMH batteries. For best battery lifespan, choose a 'smart' charger that has a charge time between 2 and 5 hours.Avoid slow, timer-based dumb charger that will over-charge your batteries, and 'ultra-fast' 30-minute chargers that will over-heat your batteries. |
Question: | These will charge in any normal NI-MH charger right |
Answer: | I use & prefer the Maha C9000 charger. It charges, conditions your batteries and displays all the info you need to tell you the state of any AA & AAA battery. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many batteries come in this package? looks like 10 aa and 4 aaa in the picture |
Answer: | Yes. The package comes with 10 AA, 4 AAA, and a 4 unit charger that will charge both the AA & AAA's |
Question: | Are these made in Japan or China |
Answer: | China for the charger. Japan for batteries. |
Question: | Does this charger work for AA and AAA batteries? The package seems to come with both types of batteries, but the charger looks like it only does AA |
Answer: | I have the BQ-CC17 charger. (Advanced Ni-MH). It does charge both AA and AAA batteries. Each charge location has two contacts on the bottom, one for AA and the other for AAA. The picture does not show the recessed slot and contact (on the bottom) for the AAA batteries (behind the AA batteries). I like this charger because it can charge a mixture of either battery type simultaneously. |
Question: | What is the exact Batteries ##? They look more like 3rd Gen (HR-3UTGFB) then 4th Gen BK-3MCC. Why the Seller does not provide the |
Answer: | They're Panasonic branded, not Sanyo, and listed on the packaging as having 2100 recharge cycles, not 1800, so based on that they are obviously BK-3MCC (or gen 4 if you want to use that term) batteries. Also, having bought these already, once you get them out of the package, that model number is printed on the batteries themselves, just nowhere on the external packaging, so not always visible on sealed packaging. Also note that the charger included in this particular SKU package is one of the worse ones, it's timer based, not using an IC to check for negative delta-V peak charge, so if you're digging into specs, check either the alternate chargers available from Panasonic (they do make better ones than this), or pickup batteries without the charger included for less money, and buy a much better Maha charger with individual charging detection for all cells independently. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these 1.5 or 1.2? And which one 1.2 or .1.5 is better for remote controls and toys |
Answer: | These are 1.2 V. A few devices requiring 1.5V wont work with 1.2V. Specially if the device needs more than 1 battery, chances are higher that they wont work. But again, most rechargeable batteries are 1.2Volts. |
Question: | The new packaging by panasonic states that these batteries hold 70% charge for 10 yrs, not 5 yrs pictured here. has anyone received the new packaging |
Answer: | The 2 eight battery packets I received in July have the following info re battery life "2100 recharge times and Holds 70% Charge up to 10 years. |
Question: | Will these panasonic eneloops be compatible with the sanyo ni-mh charger |
Answer: | Any Ni-MH charger should work with any NI-MH battery |
Question: | Comments say batteries are larger than normal. Will these fit in box that holds batteries for mini xmas lights |
Answer: | I found these to be a fraction wider (maybe 1cm) than typical AA batteries. I would say that if your current box is a tight fit for regular AA, these might pose an issue. If you have some wiggle room with current batteries, probably OK. |
