| Answer: | The 20 volt lithium batteries output 18 volts under load which makes them electrically compatible with the older 18 volt tools. The catch is that the adapter slides in place of the old 18 volt nickle battery and fits perfectly, but now the lithium battery has to be able to slide on from the opposite direction. This is not a problem on any of the 18 volt tools that I have, so I am able to use 20 volt max 7 Amp Hour batteries on my old tools. This is working great for me, but you will have to make sure that your lithium battery will mechanically fit your tool. My guess is that the worst thing that will happen is that you will have to put the battery on the adapter before you slide the adapter onto the tool. |
