Answer:	As you know, the purpose of the walker is to cause the user to stand upright rather than hunched over while rolling it forward and using it as support while walking. My wife is about 5'3", and she has the arm rests set at height #6 (of 1 - 12), which causes her to be mostly upright. That puts her elbows resting at about 40" above ground. That's about mid way from bottom to top in the arm rest slots. The arm rests do extend up to #12 but the walker seems precarious to me at that height. The lowest setting for the arm rests is at number 0, which is at 33" above ground. That would be where your short mother would have to set the arm rests for the walker to be used by a short person. The arm rests can go no lower toward the ground. Simply have her stand upright, bend her elbows to 90 degrees, and measure from the bottom of her elbow directly down to the ground. Should be 32 - 34" to work. We have found the walker to be light weight and easily collapsible and transportable. My wife has the other kind also but there is a drastic difference in having to bend forward to maneuver around with it. It's the more expensive model with wheels and a seat, hand brakes and a little compartment for carrying small items. We long ago discarded the primitive kind with the tennis balls scraping along on the ground. That one needed to be picked up and thrust forward sometimes just to move forward with! Nvre again!
