9 best bed bug spray for mattress

Bed bug sprays designed for mattresses are products specifically formulated to help eliminate bed bugs and prevent infestations on mattresses and other bedding items. They fall under the category of insect pest repellents and can be useful for addressing bed bug issues. Here's what you should know about bed bug sprays for mattresses:

  1. Purpose: Bed bug sprays for mattresses serve two main purposes. They are used to treat mattresses that are already infested with bed bugs and as a preventive measure to deter bed bugs from infesting your mattress.

  2. Ingredients: These sprays typically contain active ingredients that are effective against bed bugs. Common active ingredients include pyrethroids, pyrethrins, or natural ingredients like essential oils (e.g., lavender, peppermint, tea tree oil) known for their insect-repelling properties.

  3. Application: To use a bed bug spray on your mattress, follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Most sprays are applied directly to the mattress surface. Be sure to treat seams, creases, and folds where bed bugs may hide.

  4. Drying Time: Allow the sprayed mattress to dry thoroughly before placing any bedding or encasements over it. This may take a few hours, depending on the product and the environment.

  5. Safety Precautions: Always read and follow the safety instructions on the product label. Some bed bug sprays may contain chemicals that can be harmful to humans or pets if ingested or inhaled. Ensure proper ventilation when using them.

  6. Effectiveness: The effectiveness of bed bug sprays can vary depending on the product and the severity of the infestation. It's important to choose a reputable brand and follow the instructions closely. For severe infestations, it may be necessary to consult a pest control professional.

  7. Preventive Use: Some people use bed bug sprays as a preventive measure, even if they don't have a current infestation. Regularly treating your mattress and the areas around your bed can help deter bed bugs from taking up residence.

  8. Mattress Covers: Consider using a bed bug-proof mattress cover or encasement in addition to using a spray. This provides an extra layer of protection for your mattress.

  9. Repeat Applications: Bed bug sprays may need to be reapplied periodically to ensure continued protection. Follow the product's recommended schedule for reapplication.

  10. Monitoring: Even after using a bed bug spray, it's important to monitor your mattress and bedding for any signs of bed bug activity, such as live bugs or fecal stains.

  11. Professional Help: For severe or persistent bed bug infestations, it's advisable to seek professional pest control services.Professionals have access to more potent treatment options and can ensure thorough eradication.

In summary, bed bug sprays for mattresses are designed to help eliminate bed bugs and prevent infestations. They can be useful tools in addressing bed bug issues, but their effectiveness can vary, so it's essential to choose the right product, follow instructions carefully, and consider other preventive measures such as mattress covers and regular monitoring.

Question: What does everyone think about how it smells? I want to use it on a bed in a train just in case

Question: Ingredients please
Answer: Active ingredients are cypermethrin , 20% and other ingredients 99.80%, which are not listed. This product is very strong. I only used the product once, just to strong for me.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I spray this on bedsheets
Answer: Yes you can. I spray it on hotel sheets before I get in the bed and it doesn't cause any kind of irritation.
Question: Will this kill fleas too
Answer: I used this product on and around my bed and also my dogs bedding and believe it did kill fleas also. No bites on me, no scratching by dogs.
Question: How much is needed to get rid of the bedbugs
Answer: Thanks for your question! The level of infestation and number of beds infested will play a large role in determining the answer to your question. If you have one room that has a problem and you have for example a queen size bed. 1 bottle should be all you need with a fair amount left over. This will take into account spraying down beds, box spring, and around furniture and carpet. The larger the bed and room the more product you will need. 2 may be better for a king size bed and larger room. Please contact us with any other questions!Thank you!-Eco Defense
Question: Is there anyone, who has not received this product to reivew, who can tell me if this product works? Thank you
Answer: This is often mistaken for EcoRaider, which has better reviews & is used & endorsed by many professional exterminators & rated best on a number of review sites. We used this once (2 bottles & repeated 2 weeks later) with mixed results. We have had 2 other infestations in other apartments & 2 bottles of EcoRaider did the job 100%. Buy by the gallon if you can & treat a second time 2 weeks later. Also, bedbugs only bite certain people but ignore others. I would never have even known we had infestations if my wife hadn't come down with a number of bites. EcoRaider is also less expensive for 16 ounces at about $15.95 for 16 ounces. Last November it was only $12.95 (I don't know if EcoRaider raised its price or Amazon did - a lot of Amazon products are now as much as 25% more expensive than the same ones I can get at Target & Walmart (which also offer free 2-day delivery to your door without an annual Prime fee!).

User questions & answers

Question: Will this really kill bed bugs
Answer: Hi there, Nofar here from Terramera customer service. Our product works 100% in lab testings. It works well at killing all stages of Bed Bugs: Adult, Nymph and the Eggs as well. Most competing products are essentially neurotoxins, and work by interfering with the nervous system of the bug. Our product is not a neurotoxin – it kills the bugs by physically entering the bug and interfering with its ability to breath. Fumes from the Proof can enter the Bed Bugs Breathing holes called “spiracles ” essentially suffocating the bugs. t kills Bed Bugs on contact and when released from absorbent surfaces, the residual effect is actually a slow release from absorbent substrates rather than that of synthetic insecticides which leave a solid chemical on the surface. By residual what I mean is that if bed bugs come into contact with a treated surface it will kill them as well. So as long as you can smell Proof it is busy killing Bed Bugs for you. I hope the information helps, Nofar
Question: Should u spray furniture before movin
Answer: I would spray the new place before moving in. If you have them now, at the current place, get rid of any furniture you can. Unless you have a few weeks before moving. Then spray the entire place once our twice a week for 3-6 weeks.
Question: How many square footage does a one pound bottle do
Answer: You use this product with other products, this should be used on box springs removing the dust cover and spraying where bed bugs hide, use dry dust around the room, use bombs too
Question: Does this works good on mites
Answer: Yes the product is built for bedbugs and dust mites it is 100% guaranteed with both!

User questions & answers

Question: Will this kill stink bugs
Answer: That I don't know. That would be a question that I think should be posed to the manufacturer directly. I suggest that you reach out to Harris for the answer to that one.
Question: Is this safe for car use
Answer: no
Question: Is it residual like it says in the bottle
Answer: Hello, Thank you for your question. Yes, this spray leaves a residual that continues to kill bed bugs for weeks to come. Best, John
Question: Need something to help get rid of these pests but on a tight budget, will the spray alone work
Answer: This is a good bed bug killer but not cost effective. You’ll use up the whole bottle spraying one mattress and bed frame (don’t forget to spray under the bed slats). The non-aerosol sprays last much longer and a bottle will stand you several repeat treatments. I found the Ortho Home Defense 1.89 liter bottle with nozzle equally effective and it went much further in that I sprayed the room every three weeks for 4 months on one bottle. If your budget can cover it, I’d suggest pairing this with Tempo Dust. Much faster and deadlier than DE dust, albeit pricier. The trick with the spray tho, is really retreating every 3 weeks for a few months to get rid of them all. Good luck!

User questions & answers

Question: Does this have a residual effect
Answer: It does leave a slight tackiness when sprayed on the floor; however when fully dried there's no problem. As far as on fabric; no it doesn't leave any residue. Works great by the way.
Question: What is the difference between the black label spray & the yelloe bottle of Harris spray
Answer: The one that works best is the black label that's egg kill & resistant. I tried both and the one labeled pyrethroid resistant is by far the best.
Question: Is it eco fiendly
Answer: Probably not. Just don't inhale large quantities when applying or make a habit of breathing it when it hasn't dried on the surface it's sprayed on. It's quite odorless.
Question: So what is the actual product you are selling here? The pics seem useless for determining what the actual product is that is being sold
Answer: I cannot say what is in the bottle. I can say it is very good at getting of bed bugs. We had a visitor one time that left his bed bugs with us. We tried everything we could find in the retail market...……...no good, we still had the bugs. Finally I said enough is enough. I invested $50.00 in a gallon of the "Harris Pyrethroid Resistant" bed bug killer. Before using this I would see bed bugs in different rooms of the house; within 2 weeks of spraying the house bed bugs were reduced greatly. There has not been a bug in and around the beds for over a month. Can't say I have gotten rid of all bugs yet, but working on it. This spray is well worth the money. You will like the results.

Question: Can I use a small amount in my machine with laundry soap when washing clothes and linens
Answer: Terminex told me that simply drying the clothes in the dryer kills them off. I would think that putting it in the washer would not only be a waste of money, but potentially dangerous with it touching sensitive skin. Simply bag them in an air tight garbage bag til the problem is gone.

Bed Bug Band - Bed Bug Trap, Self-Adhesive Band, Pull Away Perforated Insect Traps, Goes Around Entire Perimeter of Fitted Sheet, Fits All Mattress Sizes and Does not Leave Residue (1 Roll)

The Bed Bug Band

Based on 2 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Bed Bug Band was designed to determine if you have bed bugs and to capture any bed bugs that are looking for their next blood meal. Bed Bugs hide in many places on your mattress, headboard and bed frame as they wait patiently for you to climb into bed allowing them to have an undisturbed blood meal.

As the bed bugs attempt to crawl out of their hiding place and onto your fitted sheet, they are immediately captured by the adhesive on the Bed Bug Band. In the morning you can check for any bed bugs that were hoping for a meal. Any areas on the Bed Bug Band that are contaminated with bed bugs can be easily removed by removing the band area at the horizontal and vertical perforations so that you are left with a clean band area for your next night sleep. It’s that simple!

The Bed Bug Band fits all mattress sizes and has a full release adhesive that will not leave a residue on your sheets.

  • Let’s face it, unfortunately humans are the only real bait for insidious nasty Bed Bugs ~ Anne Hutter Owner & Inventor of The Bed Bug Band.
  • The Bed Bug Band bug trap fits all mattresses and goes around the entire perimeter of your fitted sheet. If there are no bed bugs on top of your fitted sheet when you wrap the Bed Bug Band around it, they will have to cross over this full release adhesive insect killing trap that does not stain, or leave reside. You can sleep in peace and then remove the perforated section of the band that trapped the Bed Bug when you awake.
  • The Bed Bug Band both detects bed bugs and protects you against them. Installation is a breeze. First, wash your bedding and dry it on high heat for 20 minutes to kill any bugs that may already be present. Next, pull your mattress at least 2 inches from the wall. Then, simply adhere the Bed Bug Band to the fitted sheet on all four sides. It self-adheres and will not damage the color of the sheets.
  • The band must be stuck firmly all around to prevent bugs from crawling between the band and sheet. Next, remove the bottom cover sheet from the band, exposing an adhesive with perforated sections that will catch and trap bed bugs as they crawl over. If you see bugs in the morning, pull off the strip and replace the section or peel back the top strip for another night’s protection. It is that simple!
  • The Bed Bug Band can protect against and check for bed bugs to alert you to their presence with little fuss and no mess.
