14 best eyes drops
Eye drops are pharmaceutical products commonly used to treat various eye conditions and maintain overall eye health. They are typically administered in the form of a liquid solution that is instilled directly into the eye. Here are some key points related to eye drops and their use in maintaining eye health and addressing eye-related issues:
Types of Eye Drops: There are several types of eye drops, each designed to address specific eye conditions or symptoms. Some common types include lubricating eye drops, medicated eye drops, and prescription eye drops.
Lubricating Eye Drops: Lubricating or artificial tears eye drops are used to relieve dryness and discomfort in the eyes. They can help maintain moisture on the surface of the eye and provide relief from symptoms like itching, burning, and redness.
Medicated Eye Drops: Medicated eye drops contain active ingredients that are intended to treat specific eye conditions. For example, antibiotic eye drops are used to treat bacterial infections, while antihistamine eye drops can help relieve allergy-related eye symptoms.
Prescription Eye Drops: Some eye conditions, such as glaucoma or severe allergies, may require prescription eye drops that are specifically tailored to the individual's needs. These drops typically contain more potent medications and should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
Proper Administration: It's important to follow the instructions for using eye drops carefully. This includes washing your hands before application, tilting your head backward, pulling down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket, and placing the prescribed number of drops into the eye. Avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent contamination.
Storage: Eye drops should be stored according to the manufacturer's instructions. Most should be kept at room temperature and protected from direct sunlight. Additionally, they should be stored out of reach of children.
Expiration Date: Eye drops have a limited shelf life, and it's essential to check the expiration date before using them. Expired eye drops may be less effective or even harmful.
Side Effects: Like any medication, eye drops can have side effects. Common side effects may include temporary stinging or burning upon application. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, consult a healthcare professional.
Consultation with an Eye Specialist: If you have chronic or severe eye conditions, or if you are considering using prescription eye drops, it is essential to consult with an eye specialist (ophthalmologist) who can provide a proper diagnosis and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
Preventative Use: Some people may use eye drops as a preventative measure to maintain eye health, especially in dry or dusty environments. However, it's crucial not to overuse eye drops, as this can lead to dependency or masking underlying issues.
In summary, eye drops are a valuable tool in maintaining eye health and treating various eye conditions. It's essential to use them correctly, follow proper hygiene practices, and seek professional guidance when necessary to ensure the best results and avoid potential complications.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it relieve visual fatigue after studying on computer |
Answer: | Staring at a computer often means we don't blink enough. This can lead to eye fatigue and irritation, so I would say, "Yes." I, too, use the drops for this reason. |
Question: | shelf life for thera tears |
Answer: | I ordered my bottle of Thera Tears on 1/31/14. The expiration date on the bottle is 11/2015. So it looks like the shelf life is close to 2 years. |
Question: | Can I use this while wearing contact lenses |
Answer: | Hi Yi W., that’s a great question! We recommend trying our “TheraTears® Contact Lens Comfort Drops”, which are FDA approved for use with daily wear and extended wear soft and rigid gas permeable contact lenses. |
Question: | Looks like they changed the formula when they recently changed the packaging...Is this still preservative free? I can't find where it says that on box |
Answer: | This whole "preservative free" business is very strange. I have been purchasing the "old" packaging for several years now and purchased it specifically because it was PRESERVATIVE FREE as recommended by my Ophthalmologist. Now the new packaging doesn't say Preservative Free on he front of the package but if you take time to look all over the outer box it says that it is PRESERVATIVE FREE IN THE EYE. What does THAT mean. So I called the number on the package and was told by the person who answered the phone that it is the same formula but it can't be preservative free in the bottle because you are always taking the lid on and off the bottle. So it is preservative free as it hits the eye. Figure that out. I can't. The "old" bottle which is what they say is the same formula doesn't say anything about not being preservative free as it hits the eye. So I went to the website where it says, "NOW you can get preservative free in a bottle." WHAT? I thought it was the same formula. Was it not preservative free before, but just said so on the package? What they are claiming now is that the only TRUE Preservative Free eye drops are in the individual vials which of course you can purchase. I used to buy those before they changed the vials so that now you cannot put the top back on if you don't use the entire amount. I don't know what everyone else thinks, but this whole thing sounds very "fishy" to me. I haven't opened the new box I just received from Amazon and don't think I will do that until I get an answer from my Ophthalmologist to see if she can shed any light on this situation. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this the old one or the one with the new safety cap |
Answer: | The only way that a bulb can stay dimly lit is if it’s getting power. It has nothing to do with the bulb itself. A bulb that is turned off (as in not getting power) can’t stay lit... |
Question: | Are these preservative free |
Answer: | In my experience, it only works to connect a mini display port source to a vga reciever. So I don’t think it would work to turn the surface into an extra monitor for another computer. It would work to connect an external monitor to the surface though. |
Question: | Can you use it on contact lenses |
Answer: | Looks like the surface 3 supports the mini display port. So the other thing you need to consider is the monitor. Will yours support vga connection. Mine did so it worked fine for me |
Question: | Can someone please tell me where this product is made? Thanks much |
Answer: | 6ft |
Product description
Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops are a safe and effective solution that provides moisture and comfort for all day use. This solution can be used on silicone hydrogel and soft (hydrophilic) lenses while still in the eye. These drops are used for preventing protein deposits and buildups that come with constant use of contact lenses. The Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops formula is considered thimerosal-free and sorbic acid-free. The proper use of these rewetting drops is to moisten, reduce discomfort, and help remove particular material that may result in eye irritation or discomfort. Using this formula to lubricate the contact lenses multiple times during the day may also allow for extended use. The rewetting drops can be applied directly to the eye for immediate moisture and relief, where the multi-purpose solutions are to be used strictly to soak the lens by itself. The rewetting drops come in a portable packaging size for ease of use throughout the day. The correct application includes placing two drops directly into each eye and blinking 2-3 times to spread moisture throughout the eye. In order to avoid protein buildup on contact lenses follow these steps four times per day. Opti-Free strives to continue providing patients with the newest and most effective contact lens products on the market for dry and irritated eyes.
- Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops give you a refreshing burst of moisture for added comfort when wearing contact lenses
- Removes particles that cause irritation
- Helps prevent deposit build-up
- For Use with all Silicone Hydrogel and other Soft Contact Lenses
User questions & answers
Question: | where is this manufactured |
Answer: | We have added a picture of the RGP case which comes with each bottle. |
Question: | Is there a difference between the Replenish rewetting drops and these PureMoist rewetting drops |
Answer: | Per my eye Dr the manufacturer wasn't producing enough. He said most eye Drs recommend this one so they got behind. Now it's available again but definitely more expensive. But I like it better than any other kind I tried for soaking and cleaning. |
Question: | From their website: "Can be used on silicone hydrogels and all types of soft contact lenses |
Answer: | Hi Barbara Thanks for your reply. Do you happen to know whether I can drop one drop of the Alcon Opti Free Supra Clens Daily Protein Remover into the unique PH solution to remove protein? Previously, I have used the Alcon Opti Free Supra Clens Daily Protein Remover with Opti Free GP Solution. |
Question: | Do this disinfectant |
Answer: | No. The Unique PH is a soaking and cleaning solution. You fill the scleral lens with sterile saline solution before inserting it in your eye. I use addipak 5ml saline solution, purchased by the box of 100. Any sterile saline solution is fine for filling the lens before inserting them in your eye. |
Product features
Removes Particles that Cause Irritation
Throughout the day, particles in the air can get on your lenses and cause them to feel dry and irritating. Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops help remove those particles, to keep them comfortable for longer.
Helps Prevent Deposit Build-up
You can use Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops four or more times a day to prevent protein deposit build-up on your soft lenses. That means more comfort and less irritation.
Provides a Refreshing Burst of Moisture
Most times, your lenses feel dry because they lack moisture. Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops are an effective and convenient way of adding that moisture back to your lenses.
Perfect for On-the-Go
When your lenses feel dry, you can’t always find the time to remove them from your eyes and give them a good, moisturizing clean. That’s why Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops are so convenient. You can use them to remove particles and add moisture to your lenses while your lenses are on your eyes.
Lenses
It might be hard to believe, but sometimes it’s your own contact lenses that make your eyes feel dry. That’s because some soft contact lenses can absorb water away from the surface of the eye, resulting in irritation. Using Opti-Free Rewetting Drops gives you a way to add extra moisture throughout the day, so you experience less discomfort.
High Temperatures
Sometimes, high temperatures combined with high humidity can cause your lenses to feel irritating on your eyes. Opti-Free Rewetting Drops can fight this by helping rewet and lubricate your lenses, even on the hottest, most humid days of the year.
Wind
If your eyes are exposed to excessive amounts of wind – or even if you’re on a boat or in a convertible that’s moving fast – your eyes can get dry. Wind can also expose your eyes to particles in the air. Using Opti-Free Rewetting Drops can help lenses reduce deposit build-up and irritation.

User questions & answers
Question: | Would you recommend this for eyes that are dry and tired after computer strain |
Answer: | Yes, very much so. They were recommended to me by one of my eye doctors for MY dry eyes. Most of the over the counter eye drops contain alcohol, or some other drying agent that initially feels good, but after a little while your eyes become as dry or dryer than they were before using them. These Systane drops do not contain any of these drying agents---alcohol or other. It is also better to use these more often than not, as dryness can & will create minute scratches on the eye-- again--as told to me by my eye doctor. |
Question: | Is this preservative free |
Answer: | A Systane bottle containing MORE than one dose in it has "POLYQUAD (polyquaternium-1) 0.001%" as a preservative. (With any medication, all multi-dose eye drop bottles contain preservatives.) The single use Sustame vials are preservative free. However, even though I usually have a sensitivity to eye drop preservatives, I can use the multi-dose bottle of Systane drops without any trouble. I did an experiment where I used drops from a Systane multi-dose bottle in one eye and drops from a Systane single dose vial in the other eye. After 2 weeks, there was no difference in my eyes! |
Question: | What is the difference between this and the regular one, what does ultra do extra |
Answer: | The Ultra has a higher viscosity ("thicker"). I find it much more soothing, and don't have to apply it as often. There's also an Ultra gel drop that is even "thicker" and really great when the air is really dry, or indoor heat or air is blowing. Nice to have options to choose from! Btw, my ophthalmologist recommended Systane Ultra, and my eyes feel much better. |
Question: | Do you get 2 10-ml bottles with a Pack of 1 ? The listing is confusing |
Answer: | Yes, this is a twin pack, so you get 2 bottles of 10 ml each. All the information is on the picture of the cover of the box. |
