Question:	Is this test kit also good for salt pools
Answer:	If stored in high humidity (e.g., Miami summer weather) in spite of the foil packaging, they will not last a year. But, if kept in an air conditioned room (or even in a freezer), they should last a year or more, although there may be a diminution of potency. The best way to check is to have KNOWN high concentrations of N, P, and K, so that you can see if you get full color development. Freezing a soil sample that analyzed as "high" for all three elements when the chemicals were fresh should work to provide such a check (i.e., "positive control").

Answer:	Refer this to the manufacturer.
Question:	how many CYA tests can you do with this kit
Answer:	50 tests of each of N, P, and K can be performed (measuring in comparison to a color card as "Low, Medium, or High"). BUT there are only enough extraction tablets for 50 extracts. So, the presumption is that you do N, P, and K tests on each extract. If you only want to do N or P, before disposing of extracts, then you'll be limited to 50 tests (the total number of soil extractions that you can perform).
Question:	What is the difference between K-2005 and K
Answer:	I suspect there is a way to use this for hydroponics but have not found anything to say how. It appears that the commonly used tests for hydroponics are ph and TDS or EC. Note that TDS and EC measurements are two different ways of measuring the same thing so you don't need both. The TDS (total dissolved solids) or EC (electrical conductivity) is a general gage of the quantity of nutrients in the water. The ph is important because if the ph is wrong the plants will not absorb the nutrients. That said amazon does sell inexpensive ph, TDS and EC meters that are easy to use. You should get reference solutions to calibrate these meters. (be careful not to contaminate your reference solutions with your nutrient solutions!) If you are looking to do custom nutrient solutions or replenishment of individual nutrients some of the nutrients can be measured using aquarium test kits but some of those test kits do not have a range that is fitting for hydroponics. I purchased the LaMotte N-P-K soil test kit for soil based gardening but I also do some hydroponics. I have not yet found tests (or a way to use this test kit) to measure the individual hydroponic nutrients.

Question:	Can any of these tests be used for both saltwater and freshwater? I noticed a lot of the individually packaged tests say they can be used for both
Answer:	Api ammonia, nitrite and nitrate test kits can be used for both salt and fresh water aquariums, the liquid solutions are the same for salt and fresh. BUT the color cards that you use to compare your test to are slightly different. I have both fresh water and marine. The first time I bought these kits, I bought for saltwater and freshwater and never threw away the color cards. Now it doesn't matter if I get freshwater or saltwater test kits because I have both freshwater and saltwater cards.
Question:	Would this kit be a good one for my planted aquarium
Answer:	Yes, this is a good general water testing kit, unless you have plants that are very sensitive to water hardness. This kit does NOT include a water-hardness tester.
Question:	I'm a newbie. I have a betta in 10G tank and I'm told that I need to test the water always.Not sure if I should get this or get cheaper ones instead
Answer:	Frankly, with a 10G tank you should just be doing weekly water changes of at least 25-30%. You can't really "let things go" with a tank that size and it's unlikely that you would have ammonia spikes with such frequent water changes. I have a little 5.5 gallon with a couple of albino cory cats and I use a test strip every once in a blue moon, but the water is always fine because I do weekly changes. Am looking at this kit for my 125 gallon tank, but would bother for a tiny tank.
Question:	How many tests can be run with this kit
Answer:	About 120. Problem is that if you use the full set of products daily you will quickly run out of the ammonia test and the Nitrates tests (each with 2 bottles) because they take 8-10 drops each, compared to the Ph test which only takes 3 drops. I mainly test ammonia and nitrites so I've had to buy separate ammonia kits twice now because I ran out of fluid, while my high range ph bottle is nearly full. Also - Prime, AmGuard and other products convert Ammonia into harmless Ammonium however, it will still read as ammonia on your API kit - so it's basically lying to you. There are kits that will show you active ammonia and harmless ammonium and my API kit reads 8.0 ammonia but the other kit reads it as all harmless ammonium and zero active ammonia. You have do dose your tank with Prime every 48 hours or less to keep the ammonium from converting back to killer ammonia. This will keep happening until your tank finally converts the ammonium to nitrites. My 2 of my 4 well-cycled tanks somehow lost their cycling so that's not happening for those tanks yet.

Answer:	Yes, but it won't test for salt but the tests don't care if it's regular or salt system

Answer:	This kit can be used for salt water pools, but it doesn't test for sodium chloride (salt) content. This kit tests for chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness and Cyanuric Acid. I use this regularly on my salt water pool, but also purchased the Taylor K-1766 sodium chloride kit
Question:	I did 2 just to be sure. The first one showed A negative. The second A positive. Is one more sure than the other
Answer:	You will be able to test six times and have a couple ml left over with the reagent that comes with the test. Then you can either order reagent R-0013 from Amazon or buy it from your local pool store. The actual test may be done unlimited times using this kit so long as you buy more R-0013 to go with it.

Answer:	K-2006 has DPD Powder for Chlorine testing, K-2005 has a liquid reagent. DPD Powder is more accurate.

It leaving the tip exposed, make sure to lay it flat on a clean dry surface when awaiting the results.It is important to use a fresh sample collected in a clean dry sterile cup. Take the cap off to expose the adsorbent tip, dip the test strip evenly for 10 seconds right below the max line, and read the results at 5 minutes. Answer:	It will if you have a significant difference, if that is the case, it will drill down to say Irish. For instance, my husband (who is from Ireland) was 99% British and Irish, and then drilled down to 99% Irish. I was 88% from Spain and Portugal (I'm from Portugal) and then drilled down to 88% Portugal. I never mentioned to them I was from Portugal so the fact that they determined that I was Portuguese and not Spanish or a mixture was a surprise. Now, if you only have a small percentage they may not be able to distinguish between the two groups. Hope this helped!

People who have their family tree well documented and live on reservations have had this happen, due to the comparison samples the companies use to test against.
