Answer:	This is a major flaw in the PT meter. It will give you a reading even if the blood drop was too small to give an accurate result (it will give a false low reading). Do yourself and your pet a favor and get the alphatrak2 meter instead. The AT2 meter will not give a reading unless the meter detects it was given a large enough blood drop to give an accurate result. So you do not get false lows on the AT2 meter, even if you “scoop or push” blood onto it. I have both meters and I never use my PT meter anymore because of this flaw. My cat’s life depends on accurate results.

Answer:	I had called Zoetis (AlphaTracII maker) to inquire about setting the code. In the course of our conversation it was emphasized that at the time each set of test strips is manufactured a code is given that must be entered into the AlphaTracII and that this number will appear at the time the device is turned on—if not you need to go through the whole process of using the test glucose drops to reset (as you must do with each new batch of test strips as that code will be different) I would not use any other brand as it would give you a false reading—you could end up with a very sick or dead dog/cat. Call Zoetis yourself to talk to their experts if you want a technical explanation. Good luck—this monitor has enabled me to do glucose readings at home and relay the info to my vet especially valuable when my dog has vomited following his meal and insulin injection. Have also done glucose curve readings at home thus saving the $$ that an all day stay at the vet would cost for the same testing.

Answer:	It is the AlphaTrak 2 - It doesn't' really say it on the box but if you zoom in on the picture you can see the 2 on the meter (and it is on the meter iteself) - and on the back of the box it reads as included "AlphaTrak 2 Meter, Alpha Trak 2 Tests strips - I don't know if the test strips are different from the 1st to the 2nd but there are 25 included
Question:	can you use the freestyle lite test strips with the alpha track meter and they are half the cost of the alpha trak strips
Answer:	No. The freestyle lite is for human use and the Alpha Track Meter is calibrated for animals. I have a diabetic cat and first purchased this but after finding out how expensive the strips are ( approx $1.00 each) I changed to a human meter Relion and the strips are about .37 each. If you use the human meter and strips you will need to accommodate the readings of the BG levels. Lots of help online to do that. I home test my cat to keep him safe and I use about 8 to 9 strips a day depending on his BG levels.

Answer:	I don't use it just because of being afraid that it would go to far... I just hold needle with hand to pick blood I have been doing it that way for a while..I hope this helps you.
Question:	Is this meter have the chip for a dog or a cat? My vet said the meter must have the Cat chip for the meter to read blood glucose correctly for a cat
Answer:	There is NOT 2 separate glucode chips. When I insert the glucode chip into the monitor the screen displays a code and a animal icon (cat C01 & dog D01). Select the desired type of animal. I hope this helps.
Question:	The meter immediately goes to 000 and no animal icons appear, do I have a defective meter

It also comes with a Net like filter, I add about 2 Tbls to the net and step it in a cup (about 8-16 oz) you can add less of the tea or as much as you want, it's to your taste. I like my tea strong, so it's completely up to you. step for 3-5 mins. I add cream & Agave to mine... You can add sweetned condensed milk, but that has to many cslories in it. Very good though. My husband and I discovered the tea in a local Thai restraunt and found this one from the Internet, it's just like the tea we had there. You can also drink it Hot, it's just as good.
