Question:	Has anyone tried this setup with an extra wireless router at the end
Answer:	Yes. I have a Linsys N on mine. You have to disable the DHCP on the slave router. Also you need to assign a static IP on the router. Use something like 192.168.1.250. Then only plug into the ports with the line from the wall unit and not into the internet/supply port. If you have a 4 port router with 1 internet port, you have to use one of the ports for the service so you can hook up 3 other direct connects. You then have to rename the wireless on the "slave" router to exactly match any other wireless providing service same with password. You need to make it a duplicate router. Good luck

Answer:	These systems are hackable, but it takes a lot of work by a good hacker. Here's an excellent treatise on this subject: bentasker dot co dot uk/documentation/security/282-infiltrating-a-network-via-powerline-homeplugav-adapters As this treatise says at the end, TP-Link has released a firmware update to fix this issue, and that new items leaving the factory would not be affected. Step 2:

Please check if there are electrical devices, which have a motor inside them, around the powerline adapters. Such equipment can be air-conditioners, washing-machines, electric-fans etc.. Please move such equipment to another location if possible, or move powerline adapters away from such equipment. You may also buy a surge protector and plug such equipments to its outlets to avoid any interference they may cause.



Step 3:

Please check if there are AC power adapters, such as those used for mobile phones, laptops or something else around the adapters. If the quality of AC power adapter is not good, it may cause noise on the power line circuit. Please move it to another place away from the powerline adapters.



Step 4:

Please check if the distance between the adapters is too long. In theory, the maximum distance is 300 meters. However, with interference and line quality, it will be hard to reach the full 300 meters.

Question:	If your switch/modem is far from the security camera...would the use of a poe injector and a powerline adapter be "in therory" the same as hardwiring
Answer:	Late response, but No, not equal to hardwiring. You'll have much less bandwidth/speed drop with hardwire. Powerline depends on how far the breakers are and overall system layout.
Question:	If my router supports mimo and link aggregation, can i plug both ethernet ports into my router to increase bandwidth to the powerline network
Answer:	No. The device internally uses MIMO between the endpoints to increase speed, and the 2 ports are essentially a switch (i believe the powerline is just another 'switch' leg). But it does not allow you to bind the ports together as a link. Frankly, I 'only' get about 250-350Mbps through the devices even with Gigabit Ethernet connected, so even if it did support it you'd get nowhere NEAR the expected speed increase.
Question:	Can I add a third device to extend my ethernet to another floor
Answer:	I have router on 2nd floor, my PC and NAS on the first. The whole idea was to cover house with wifi and not to run the wire to PC and NAS and it works fine.
Question:	Will these work in a house with no grounds? None of the outlets in my house have a ground wire
Answer:	They will not fully work in your situation. The MIMO technology, where they talk about having two separate data streams between the devices, requires a ground plug. This is because one of the data streams goes over the actual electrical circuit that is delivering power, and the other over the ground wire. So even if it were to work with one of your adapters for three prong devices, you would be paying more for performance that you will never ever get, since you'd be buying a two stream device and your wiring is incapable of delivering more than one stream. Some of the other TP-Link kits that aren't MIMO (usually advertised as 500-600 mbps), such as the one I have, deliver only one stream and have only two prongs. They are also a lot cheaper. Don't buy this if your wiring doesn't have a ground wire as you are wasting your money. Buy one of the cheaper kits. All of my wiring has ground wires, so I can't say how well the two prong designs will work with your older wiring. But at least you won't be wasting money on something guaranteed to never fully perform.

Answer:	Keep in mind, the video on a product page misleads customers! You can't buy WiFi PL extender PLW1010 as they say in Video. If you buy two kits, you'll have - one powerline LAN distributor (non-wifi) - two WiFi extenders (each: PL receiver + Wifi broadcasting + 1 Ethernet Port) - one powerline receiver (non-wifi) you can plug to the power outlet and use as single Ethernet port
Question:	Can someone tell me what this does
Answer:	Depends on which version you refer to. The PLW1010 has WiFi capability, the PL1010 does not. They both have an ethernet port. The base unit is located near your router - use ethernet to connect the base unit to your router to get the best throughput from your router and into the house wiring. Plug it into an Electrical outlet and it sends your LAN signal through your house wiring to be picked up by the remote unit(s) plugged into wiring elsewhere in the house. The remote unit has an Ethernet port, so you can attach a Smart TV, BluRay, Game Console, whatever, to the ethernet and get pretty good network response (probably not gigabit, but pretty good anyway). With the Wifi Version (the PLW1010) the remote unit ALSO transmits WiFi signal. I have not purchased this WiFi product yet, I have a ethernet only version right now and looking at this to expand my iPhone/tablet Wifi signal in remote parts of the house). As such, I have an older house and the electrical wiring is sketchy and is rather noisy and fluctuates, but this technology seems to work nonetheless even on the other side of the house, I even have had the base unit plugged into an extension cord and it still works. So bottom line, this will extend your LAN signal to another room of the house via ethernet, and the WiFi version also creates a WiFi Access Point in that remote room. From what others say here, that Wifi is an extension of your router WiFi in SSID/pw. I hope this answers your question.

Answer:	Most of the answers here are giving you bits and pieces. Here's the scoop from a long time network engineer and administrator. (BTW, I'm here because I'm buying another one for another client.) 1. The wired devices in this listing act as if you had a long Ethernet cable. It's transparent. Its a work of art. Much better than any mesh system 2. As far as the wireless, there are two options - The thing to remember is most devices (computers phones, tablets are fairly single minded when it comes to finding a better signal so if they can see the current access point at all they will hang on for dear life. You can turn off the wifi on the device and turn it back on and that will help it to reanalyze the situation. Business systems which have many of these monitor where devices are and will automatically kick a device off of one, forcing it to reanalyze the situation. a. Use the default setup - some people like this because then they can tell which antenna (access point) their device is connected. b. Duplicate the existing wifi network - This can be done using the WPS setup or manually. I like doing it manually so I can configure the whole setup (channel, channel width, security level, etc.) For the most part the handoff should work seamlessly however there may be times where certain devices (usually older ones) will refuse to change or take a while to make the switch. For most of my clients when I have to setup one of these, I duplicate the existing network to make it easier on them. I have yet to hear of any complaints. Two more details. For best performance of any of these devices 1. It MUST be plugged into the wall outlet, no power taps or surge protectors. They have filters which choke the communication 2. These normally wont work across a meter - in other words, you probably cant use it to share internet with your next door neighbor. There are a few instances where it works but they are few.

Answer:	It comes with 2 quality ethernet wires.
Question:	whey will work if conect on different breakers
Answer:	50% chance. Most homes have 2 power lines and each breaker alternates power lines. If both breakers are on the same power line it will work. So one device on breaker #2 and the second on breaker #4 should work. Ditto for 1 and 3. If the two devices do not work you can have an electrician come in and "move" the breaker from one slot to another. Another solution is to have an electrician come in and install capacitors across the two lines. This is inexpensive and will allow the devices to work no matter what breaker you put it on.
Question:	if i buy the adapter am i ordering 2 for one room and the other room
Answer:	Yes, you get two adapters in the order. One plugs to the modem and the wall outlet, the other plugs to the router and the wall outlet. They even supply the cords you need for plugging into the modem and the router. That was a pleasant surprise. They are not super long, so if you need a longer cord you'll need to buy your own, but the one supplied was fine for my set up. On a side note, I just changed Internet providers and the modem was moved to a different room. I just moved the adapter to that new room, plugged it all up and it stayed paired. I didn't even need to redo that step. I'm very impressed with this product. Always be sure to plug this adapter directly to the wall and not a power strip. The modem plug can be on a power strip, just not the adapters themselves.

Answer:	If both panels are serviced by the same electric supply on your side of the transformer, they're all connected and the limiting factor will be any distance limitations. This is why HomePlug is not recommended for apartments because the separate meters are serviced from the same transformer.

OTOH: occasionally, high voltage appliances, such as microwave, can affect the bandwidth of the powerline adapters when they run. Answer:	TP-Link pass throughs and TRENDnet Powerline AV 500 are from different companies. TRENDnet Powerline AV 500 has some security features, passwords, and settings that we use. Such security features are unlikely to be compatible, but the TP-LINK AV500 2-Port Powerline Adapter with AC Pass Through Starter Kit looks like the same device from the same factory. Mixing devices is taking a big risk they won't be compatible because of security features, or the chips inside the devices. A worst situation is when mixing the similar adapters they don't stop helping each other, and they have no security features to stop intruders in your network. Now, I feel fear that some other company sells a device that an intruder on the outside of my home can use to get into my network, because that similar device hacks my passwords quickly by plugging it into the outlet. If you buy all the same devices, and use the security software in each of your computers, then you will have the security nearly equal to real networking wires. Having extra devices purchased in advance helps with growing networking like we have. Nothing obsolete happens unless you move to gigabit speed at 1000 megabytes per second. These are only 500 megabytes per sec. We have learned that nothing on the Internet is a gigabyte speed at all unless it has fiber optic cable, so why get it?

Answer:	From tests in multiple homes, we have seen that almost all sockets get 100Mbps throughput. IF you are getting less then 100Mbps, you might want to make sure you are following the manufacturer's suggested installation procedure. That is, plug it into the wall and do not put it into an electrical extension strip as that will degrade performance.

Answer:	Yes, with a switch as previously said. I have mine connected to a router to bring my internet connection into my house so all my devices are run through that one set of adapters.

Answer:	It depends on how your home and your shed are wired. If your shed is wired to the same panel as the rest of your home it should work. It does not matter if you have different circuit breakers for the areas so as long as they are all connected to the same panel. GFI outlets will attenuate the signal and in most cases logically act as a dedicated line from the outlet to the panel because of how they are installed so don't put any of the powerline units on those type of outlets for you will not achieve the speed rated on the device nor will your traffic be visible to other adapters throughout your home potentially.

Answer:	Yes, you should be able to connect a switch to these adapters without issue. Keep in mind that while the switch prevents collisions these adapters work like a hub inside the power lines of your home. It is fine for two adapters regardless of how many devices are connected to either adapter but once you plug a third adapter in it becomes a collision domain and you can potentially take a small performance hit. This should not be noticeable though unless you have several of these adapters connected and using data at once. Basically when practical it is better to connect several devices to one adapter through a switch or wireless access point than to add a second power adapter.
