Then poured a little white vinegar in it and let it sit for a bit, then took a Q-tip and gently rubbed the center piece and rinsed with water. I later did the same thing with rubbing alcohol. Answer:	The lid holds water so when you take it off the unit make sure you have something under it. If you put to much water in the unit it will leak. Don't overfill it. The unit may need too be put a little higher.
Question:	Can you use distilled water if you have hard water
Answer:	Those are automatic shutoff times. If you push the button once, it will shut off after 60 minutes, twice after 120 minutes, three times after 180 minutes and if you go all the way to "on", it shuts off after it runs out of water or you shut it off.
