13 best atomic hot sauces

Atomic hot sauces are a category of extremely spicy hot sauces known for their intense heat and bold flavors. These sauces are not for the faint of heart and are typically reserved for those who can handle extreme levels of spiciness. Here are some key points about atomic hot sauces:

  1. Scoville Heat Scale: Atomic hot sauces are often rated very high on the Scoville Heat Scale, which measures the spiciness of chili peppers and chili-based products. They can range from several hundred thousand to over a million Scoville Heat Units (SHU).

  2. Ingredients: These sauces are made from a combination of extremely spicy chili peppers, such as Carolina Reaper, Trinidad Scorpion, or Ghost Pepper. Other ingredients may include vinegar, garlic, and various spices to enhance the flavor.

  3. Intensity: Atomic hot sauces are known for their extreme spiciness and are typically used sparingly. A small amount can add a significant kick to dishes.

  4. Flavor Variations: Despite their intense heat, atomic hot sauces often aim to provide a well-balanced flavor profile alongside the heat. Some may have smoky, fruity, or tangy notes to complement the spiciness.

  5. Usage: These sauces are commonly used as a condiment or ingredient to add heat and flavor to dishes like chili, wings, tacos, and spicy marinades. Due to their potency, it's essential to use them in moderation.

  6. Warning Labels: Many atomic hot sauce bottles come with warning labels, cautioning consumers about the extreme heat and suggesting that they handle the sauce with care, including wearing gloves when handling.

  7. Challenge Factor: Atomic hot sauces are sometimes used in spicy food challenges and competitions, where participants attempt to consume or incorporate the sauce into dishes for bragging rights.

  8. Popular Brands: Several hot sauce makers produce atomic or ultra-hot sauces, including brands like Mad Dog 357, Dave's Gourmet, and The Last Dab from the YouTube series "Hot Ones."

  9. Safety Considerations: It's crucial to handle atomic hot sauces with caution, as they can cause intense discomfort or even health issues if consumed excessively or mishandled. Always wash hands thoroughly after contact and be mindful when sharing dishes containing atomic hot sauces.

In summary, atomic hot sauces are known for their extreme spiciness and are sought after by spicy food enthusiasts looking to add intense heat to their dishes. While they can provide a unique and thrilling culinary experience, they should be approached with caution and used sparingly due to their fiery nature.

    User questions & answers

Question: It says, "...warm bottle to 140℉ to be able to remove the pepper extract from the bottle". Well, what is the proper way to heat up the bottle
Answer: I would warm it in hot water
Question: Is this really $80 sauce ..please help me understand
Answer: This is the 2nd or 3rd hottest thing on the planet. Your average bottle of Tabasco sauce at around $5.00 is around 3000-5000 Scoville heat units. This is 9 million Scoville heat units. When you do the math, it's actually quite a bargain.
Question: I have been eating this everyday for a month. What should my next bottle of hot sauce be
Answer: Go to www.extremefoods.com in there reserves section you will find halloween 2015 reserve which has capsicum crystals that are 16 mil scoville
Question: Several questions, 1) best way to heat it before use? 2) best way to store? 3) can this cause skin burns? 4) best way to dilute it down a little
Answer: I've used extracts regularly for years! Here is a little more info.1: Heat it by placing in the whole bottle in front of a small space heater for 10 minutes, or by letting the bottle sit in warm water inside a plastic bag if you don't want the label ruined. It doesn't need to be hot, just warmed up to become completely liquid. Don't microwave. You should definitely heat it before use, whether that use is to have fun using it directly or to use as an additive. If you don't heat it before using, it coagulates and the strongest parts of the capsaicin are locked inside with lesser gel outside, whereas if its liquid, its easy to gently swirl and mix it up, and it dilutes better.2: No need to refrigerate, but it is best kept in a cool dry place. This bottle will easily stay good and retain its heat for 10 years or more.3: No. It hurts, but it cannot cause actual chemical skin burns unless you use a very large amount on your skin for a very long time. The effect of capsaicin is temporary and will fade away after a short while. If you get it on particularly sensitive skin (maybe because you forgot to thoroughly wash your hands before using the bathroom?) the burning sensation can last for hours, or a couple days if you don't properly clean it off.5: To dilute it down, you can add it in its warmed up state directly to hot foods such as a pot of chili and stir thoroughly. It does not mix well at all when cold. To make sauces, or to dilute it for testing purposes, it mixes very well with alcohol and/or vinegar.

Mad Dog 357 Plutonium No. 9 is for serious chileheads only!

Because this is a painstaking and expensive process, Mad Dog 357 Plutonium No. 9 Pepper Extract is a premium product. This is for the hot pepper aficionado. The one who has to have the hottest, the purest, the best—and there is nothing close to it on the market.

Mad Dog 357 Plutonium No. 9 is the purest, hottest, and the best!

Our processing for one bottle of Plutonium No. 9 starts with 1,000 ounces of raw peppers—1,000 ounces!—and ends up with 1 ounce of power-packed extract that registers 9,000,000 on the Scoville scale. It’s pure heat!” It's the most concentrated pepper extract currently available.

Mad Dog 357 Plutonium No. 9 is so hot there is a 6-point disclaimer on the box!

Some may think that the retro “nuclear” packaging for Mad Dog 357 Plutonium No. 9 Pepper Extract is over the top, but this extract truly is dangerous, which is why the box contains a six-point disclaimer about how not to use it, with phrases such as: “can cause serious injury if directly consumed, ingested or applied to the body” and “I fully understand the potential danger if used or handled improperly” and “If I give this product as a gift, I will make the recipient fully aware of the potential danger if used or handled improperly.”

Trust us, those warnings are no joke!

    Product description

We took Iggy on a road trip out west in an old Caddie convertible. As we were passing the Alamogordo Testing Grounds, Iggy got antsy and bailed. we now have a highly-classified, top secret pepper and Iggy glows a little at night. So you like it hot, do you? A full 50% hotter than our Iguana XXX, this blistering blend of 'top secret' hot peppers, with a total pepper content of 65%, is definitely not for the faint of heart. In fact, this sauce is pretty much as hot as we think can be tolerated by any sort of reasonably sane person. And as for those artificial pepper-extract sauces, we say 'Stop the insanity!' They have crafted Iguana Radioactive from fresh, natural ingredients in a kitchen, not a laboratory. It's a great sauce for a natural pepper high when you just feel like cutting loose and experimenting with spontaneous combustion. It's actually very tasty as well, with a bright lime, carrot, onion and garlic base. Super-naturally hot and all-natural, too.

    User questions & answers

Question: Does this need to be refrigerated after opening
Answer: I keep mine out of the fridge for 6 months and its still good. However, it is advised to keep it refrigerated. Its really up to you. I know restaurants will leave ketchup and Tabasco sauce out of the fridge, something to keep in mind.
Question: How long will it last without opening it
Answer: While I don't know how long an unopened bottle will last, my opened bottle is 3+ years old, and un-refrigerated.
Question: What is the #1hot sauce
Answer: mad dog 357 plutonium 9 million scoville
Question: Does this also have good flavor and not just the heat factor
Answer: I personally am highly disappointed in the flavor. Its hard to describe but it just tastes artificial and unpleasant to me. It definitely has some strong heat to it that lingers and will give whatever you put it in/on a serious bite, but it has such an unpleasant taste it can ruin the food. Ive heard others say it tastes really good (including Hot Ones, the reason i got this sauce after trying other sauces from Heatonist) so maybe mine was just a bad batch, but it definitely tastes very artificial to me. Personally would not recommend unless you just want heat regardless of flavor.

The Original Mad Dog 357 Hot Sauce at the Segovia Castle in Spain!
    Blazing Baked Onion Rings

The only reason you don’t have fiery onion rings at home has to be the mess of hot oil you’d rather do without. Or, perhaps it’s because you never knew how to work Mad Dog 357 Hot Sauce into the rings themselves. Either way, we’ve totally got you covered. These are the way onion rings should be, don’t you think?

    Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour 1½ cups Bread crumbs ½ cup Parmesan, grated 1 teaspoon Mad Dog 357 Hot Sauce 2 large Eggs 2 large Onions, sliced into ½” rings, separated

    Preparation

Preheat your oven to 400ºF. Cover a baking sheet with baking paper and set aside.

Measure the flour into one large bowl, and mix the breadcrumbs and parmesan into another. In a third bowl, whisk the Mad Dog 357 Hot Sauce with the eggs and set aside.

Dredge the onion rings in flour, then dip in the Mad Dog egg mixture, and then toss with the crumb mixture. You may need to press a little to coat the rings.

Place rings on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Serve with any Mad Dog dip for a delicious indulgence.

    Super Easy Fiery Salsa

We’re pretty certain that there’s no easier way to throw together a dip for whatever chips your friends have brought around for a backyard BBQ – whether it’s the 4th of July or just a gorgeous weekend day. Really, all you need to do is throw some Mad Dog in the blender with some fresh ingredients and you’re ready to go. It’s that easy. And, while we’re huge fans of the original’s heat and flavor profile in this mix, you can certainly mix it up with whatever Mad Dog you have on hand – or, perhaps blend a few flavors for a totally unique salsa; it could just be your house specialty going forward. (We definitely think it has that kind of potential!)

    Ingredients

1-2 teaspoons Mad Dog 357 Original Hot Sauce

2 cans (14 oz each) Fire-roasted tomatoes, drained

    1 each Lime, juiced

1 small Onion, cut into large chunks

    1/2 bunch fresh cilantro

    3 cloves Garlic

    1 1/2 teaspoons Cumin powder

    1/2 teaspoon Oregano

    1 teaspoon Salt

    2 teaspoons Sugar

    Preparation

Place the Mad Dog 357 Original Hot Sauce with the remaining ingredients in your blender or food processor and blitz until smooth (or whatever consistence you prefer). Serve with plenty of dip – and perhaps a little more Mad Dog on the side.

    Mad Fried Shrimp

Of course, there’s a National Fried Shrimp Day. Why wouldn’t there be?

And, we kind of love that it falls on the 21st of December; fried shrimp is perhaps the most perfect snack or easy supper for last-minute holiday madness. It’s quick and deceptively easy to prepare. Better still, when you add in the heat of our Mad Dog 357 Original Hot Sauce – yes, right there in the crispy-fried coating, it’s better still. The one thing you need to watch out for (no, not the heat, you’re used to that – right?) is making enough to feed everyone who will be around to snag as many pieces as possible. This recipe serves 4 as it’s written. If you have more to feed, why not double the recipe – or at least the amount of Mad Dog beyond the heat points of mere mortals. (You’ll thank us for that suggestion when you get a taste of this delicious recipe.)

    Ingredients

2-3 tablespoons Mad Dog 357 Original Hot Sauce

    2 cups Buttermilk

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    ¼ cup Cornmeal

    1 tablespoon Baking powder

    2 tablespoons ground black pepper

    1 tablespoons Salt

2 pounds Shrimp, peeled and deveined

    Vegetable oil, for frying

    Preparation

Preheat oil in a wok or deep pot to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with paper towels and set aside. In a medium bowl, combine the Mad Dog 357 Original Hot Sauce with the buttermilk and set aside. In a second medium bowl, whisk together all the dry ingredients and set aside.

Prepare the shrimp by dredging each piece through the dry mixture, shaking off the excess flour; then, dip it in the Mad Dog buttermilk mixture and return it to the flour mixture for a second dredging. Shake off the excess flour and set aside. Continue until all shrimp are coated. When the oil is hot, deep fry the shrimp in batches (if you add too much, the temperature will drop too suddenly, and you’ll have soggy shrimp, not crispy shrimp. Fry shrimp for about 2 minutes per batch, then remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and then drain on the prepared baking sheet. Serve hot.

Question: does this need to be refrigerated after opening
Answer: The quick answer is yes ... and no. Condiments like fish sauce, soy sauce, and hot sauce do not need to be refrigerated. They contain enough natural preservatives to be just fine at room temp. However, if you find that the flavor is not as robust or even hot as it was when you first opened it, I would refrigerate it personally. So depending on how many people use Satan's Blood Hot Sauce in the household, how long it sits in your pantry or on your table, or if you notice the above mentioned differences in both taste or weaker spice levels than yes. User questions & answers

Question: Is this authentic? I got it but the label is a glossy sticker
Answer: I don't know anything about a glossy sticker. What we sell and ship is authentic--but it is labeled exactly as shown. What you received...I have no idea about. Your questions and concerns should be addressed directly to the seller or to Amazon customer support.
Question: does this need to be refrigerated
Answer: No, it doesn’t need to be refrigerated, but it’s what you feel comfortable in doing. Some people refrigerate BBQ sauce, but you don’t need to. I only refrigerate when there is no cap and I cannot cover the hot sauce. You should be fine if you put 100% Pain back in the cabinet.
Question: is the bottel plastic or glass
Answer: Glass with a minor hip-flask like curve and with a plastic cap. The second bottle I bought had a split cap, as if it had been tighten too much. (Luckily I had saved my first bottle because I like the glass).
    Question: How many scoville units
Answer: Actually, according to the manufacturer, 100% PAIN is rated at 40,600 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) That's a LOT-of-HOT but NOT nearly a Million SHU.

Question: Do you sell bottles that aren’t broken? As much as I love broken glass covered in hot sauce, I’d prefer to use it on other things

    Product description

Pain is good batch #218 Louisiana style hot sauce-deep in the bayou on the edge of the swamp, gators sun, crawfish boil and toffee simmers. It was there that Cajun hot sauce was born of cayenne and tabasco peppers, where the term 'coonas' meant french heritage and hot food. That heritage has transcended the past that pushes through the portals of time to heat, to flavor and to mardi gras.

    Product description

Iguana Radioactive Explosively Hot Atomic Pepper Sauce, 5oz.: So you like it hot, do you? A full 50% hotter than our Iguana XXX, this blistering blend of “top secret” hot peppers, with a total pepper content of 65%, is definitely not for the faint of heart. In fact, this sauce is pretty much as hot as we think can be tolerated by any sort of reasonably sane person. And as for those artificial pepper-extract sauces, we say “Stop the insanity!” We've crafted Iguana Radioactive from fresh, natural ingredients in a kitchen, not a laboratory. It's a great sauce for a natural pepper high when you just feel like cutting loose and experimenting with spontaneous combustion. It's actually very tasty as well, with a bright lime, carrot, onion and garlic base. Super-naturally hot and all-natural, too.
