| Answer: | It depends on how "unseasoned" your humidor was to start, and the humidor size etc.Typically watch your hygrometer, when it stays consistently about 80% for like a day or two, you've saturated the wood, and it's ok to take it out. I always put my own humidifying material (boveda 72% persay) and leave it in by itself overnight before putting the cigars in. If you don't have a good hygrometer or want another method, put a damp sponge in your humidor ( damp-shouldn't drip at all) put it on something like a styrofoam plate or something else non porous so it won't damage wood, and leave it over night. If humidity is too low, the sponge will dry up...In short - two weeks should be plenty of time, just take it out and put in your new humidifying agent overnight to avoid potential humidity swings. If your question was do I take it out and not put anything else in its place - no. There must be something always putting humidity into the system. The seasoning is so the wood doesn't rob the cigars of moisture if the wood is too dry.Enjoy, these seasoning packs are great! |
