I imagine if it had to connect to Internet then the battery on the base wouldn’t last as long as it does because of the power draw. I get at least a full 24 hour day from a full charge (I charge while my son bathes so I’ve never taken it to 0). Plus the base will alert you at 99.5F and 100.5F so you will want that nearby so you can hear it.

Answer:	Once you activate it, it only monitors and transmits temperature readings for the 48hour window. It is a one time use. If it happens to error or malfunction then contact the manufacturer. They require specific and prefer to get the “bad” patch but have been very helpful in the past.
