Question:	The description states "Conversion Compatible." What does that mean
Answer:	This DVD player is NTSC (National Television System Committee) and PAL (Phase Alternating Line) Conversion Compatible which means that there are differences in frames per second by televisions in different parts of the world. I purchased a LMN movie that was recorded in the Netherlands and it plays great on this DVD player because it is a multi region player. Most DVD players just play Region 1 and 2. This one plays all regions. I am no tech so I don't really understand what all this means but this DVD player worked good for me and it also plays all the DVD's that I have purchased recorded in the USA.

Answer:	No. If I had known that fact I would not have purchased this. That and the fact that it plays no more file formats than the much older Philips player I had (with hdmi) makes this player basically useless to me despite the low price.

Answer:	It depends on the encoding of the .avi file, but in general it does play .avi files. Avi files encoded using DivX will definitely work, others are hit or miss.
