3 best voltage converter for japan appliances used in us
A voltage converter for Japanese appliances used in the US is a device that allows you to adapt the electrical voltage and sometimes the plug type of your Japanese appliances to the US electrical system. Here's what you should know:
Voltage Difference: Japan typically uses a voltage of 100V, while the United States uses 120V. This voltage difference can potentially damage or malfunction Japanese appliances if they are not compatible with the higher US voltage.
Plug Type: Japanese electrical outlets use a different plug type compared to the US.Japanese plugs are typically two-pronged and non-polarized, whereas the US uses Type A and Type B plugs, which have two or three prongs.
Voltage Converter: A voltage converter, also known as a step-down transformer, is designed to reduce the US voltage (120V) to the Japanese voltage (100V). This ensures that your Japanese appliances receive the correct voltage and function properly in the US.
Wattage Rating: When selecting a voltage converter, pay attention to its wattage rating. Make sure it can handle the power requirements of your Japanese appliances. It's important to check the wattage or amperage specifications of your devices and choose a converter that exceeds these requirements.
Type of Appliances: Not all appliances are suitable for use with a voltage converter. Some appliances with electronic components like computers, televisions, and audio equipment may not work correctly even with a voltage converter. It's essential to check the compatibility of each appliance.
Plug Adapters: In addition to voltage conversion, you may need plug adapters to fit Japanese plugs into US outlets. These adapters simply change the physical shape of the plug, allowing it to fit into the socket.
Multi-Function Converters: Some voltage converters are multi-function and can work as both step-down and step-up transformers. This means they can adapt both US appliances for use in Japan and Japanese appliances for use in the US.
Safety Considerations: Using a voltage converter can be safe if used correctly. Ensure that the converter you choose has safety features such as overload protection and thermal protection to prevent overheating or damage to your appliances.
Usage Instructions: Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when using a voltage converter. Some devices may require specific setup or considerations for safe and effective use.
Cost: The cost of voltage converters can vary depending on their wattage capacity and features. Higher-capacity converters and multi-function models may be more expensive.
Travel vs. Permanent Use: Consider whether you need a voltage converter for a short-term stay (e.g., travel) or permanent use. Smaller, portable converters are suitable for travel, while larger models may be more appropriate for permanent installations.
In summary, a voltage converter for Japanese appliances used in the US is essential to ensure that your devices receive the correct voltage and can be safely operated. Pay attention to compatibility, wattage ratings, and safety features when choosing a converter to make sure it suits your needs and protects your appliances.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I used it for bruno hot plate |
Answer: | I really didn’t want to get off my lazy butt and test this but your question got me just curious enough to go outside to see if it worked. I most certainly does not. I tried it next to multiple points and around the head lights which were turned on and it didn’t detect anything. In fact, it gave more detection just waving it around in the air than it did next to wires. I think this is because it’s really made for AC current rather than DC. |
Question: | How do I contact the seller |
Answer: | The LED light bar is a light emitting diode or semiconductor diode that projects light outward using electroluminescence. This type of lighting is used in homes, cars, electronics and at the workplace now. Light bars are lower wattage so they produce lower heat and they don't loose efficiency. LED lights are used to project light using little current and are very efficient. |
Question: | If this unit has surge protection how do you reset the fuse? My unit turns off after a second of being on |
Answer: | This pen is basically design to let you know there was a power, it is not to tell you the current voltage, hope this help |
Question: | Would this be safe to use with a 100V 50/60hz 900w rice cooker? I read that I may need double the recommended 900w on the rice cooker |
Answer: | detects AC voltage ranging from 12V-1000V, distinguishing them into 3 voltage levels. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have some small Japanese kitchen appliances like coffee maker and small takoyaki maker .Will i be able to use my appliances in the US |
Answer: | I bought a refurbished model - was crap. Sent it back. |
Question: | Hi: is this transformer powerful enough for a japanese cd player.. s300s by yamaha? or do i need more voltage/ wattage? thanks lr |
Answer: | No, there was no coffee filter, and the charcoal water filter was not included either. I decided to keep the product nevertheless, as I use my own filters anyways.I don't know about warranty - that was not an important issue for me. If it doesn't work - it goes right back to the seller. And just FYI - the coffeemaker works as expected! |
Question: | Is this an isolating transformer |
Answer: | No it doesn’t. It’s a great tool though! |
Question: | Hello can i power up a japanese device rated at 100 volts 50/60HZ 11 watts with this transformer |

User questions & answers
Question: | I blew the fuse on my VT-1000J. Would someone please kindly let me know either a replacement fuse model number or specs? Thanks so much |
Answer: | Worked great especially under washers and dryers and other appliances |
Question: | Would this transformer work well with japanese dryer (ac100v 50-60hz 1200w |
Answer: | I'm sure it would. Because it's long, I use it to dust hard to reach places. |
Question: | I have a vacuum cleaner that i brought from japan and it says 100v, 1000w,, 50-60hz. will this converter make this vacuum cleaner work in us |
Answer: | my guess is 90 day warranty applies as this is a REFURBISHED unit and costs half the retail price. Refurbs have a bad rap among some but I've had reasonably good luck with them. |
Question: | wich watt should i pick for stax energizer from japan |
Answer: | All the answers above are wrong, interesting how well meaning people give answers here without knowing the facts or reading the manual. If any of them would have bothered they would have seen that the auto-shut off is set at 1 hour by default but can be easily changed to 2 or 3 hours if the user desires. I have set mine to 3 hours but if the power shut off I have to reset it, simple enough. There is NO setting for either 0 or 4 hours. |
