Answer:	A bit of both. It tends to hold it's shape (i.e. it doesn't really lay flat, curls at ends). I personally would not use it for an adult to sleep on, I have one each for my boys (8 and 6 years old) and it is cushy enough for them - they both like the pad. I invested in an inflatable pad for myself ($30 on Amazon).

Answer:	It’s closed cell foam, so it would work just fine on a cot. I use one on my cot even in summer to prevent the drafty bottom. I would put the fitted sheet over the pad though because sleeping with skin directly in contact will make your skin sweat since the foam is not breathable.

When on your back, with the weight more widely distributed on the pad, the comfort is much better. But the comfort is very dependent on your situation. Are you at 5,000 feet and above treeline sleeping on solid rock? You'll be wishing you brought an air mattress. Are you on the soft floor of a pine forest? Clean out the branches, twigs, small rocks, and pine cones and this will be pretty comfortable. Are you on a sandy desert floor? Again, clean out the bumpy stuff and you should sleep pretty well. Are you in an alpine meadow full of clumpy grasses? It's not gonna be a good night. But, this thing is light, cheap, tough, easy to deploy or pack up, and it has multiple uses as a seat, wind barrier, protection from hail, pack frame, and a place to kneel or put on your boots in the morning. Versatility, durability, and price are the reasons these pads are still around even though inflatable pads offer much more comfort. Answer:	This 3 prong to 2 prong version of this device always unsafe to use and should be remove from the market. The lack of a ground tab (see Cheater Plug on Wikipedia) on the 2 prong side leaves the user in danger, as the ground wire will not be connected. Second issue, the 2 prong plug is not keyed. The hot pin should be smaller, the neutral pin larger (like the 3 prong plug pictured). This flaw will allow your to get the two (not, neutral) swapped depending on which way you plug the adapter in, which could result in a electrocution and death.

Answer:	NO. The adapter is meant 'only' to adapt the plug on your device to the Japan receptacle. If, repeat "if". your US device runs "sluggish" when plugged into a Japanese outlet there is nothing practical to fix that. The sluggish operation will not hurt the device but will make it less effective. The lower voltage and frequency causes the device to be sluggish and inefficient....e.g., fans, blowers, ac motors for any purpose. Fans will operate slightly slower due to the lower frequency of the Japan power, i.e., sluggish. If that bothers you, buy a similar device that is designed to run on Japanese power. The good news is that most US low power appliances will operate fine on Japanese Power if the power unit to the device reads "100-220v".
