Answer: | Yes the edges are smooth. I just went and rechecked it by rubbing it across my hand. However I am still very careful when I'm pushing the mixture thru the blades, no matter how smooth the blender may be I never want to take a chance on cutting myself. |

Answer: | The blades are the best I have used. I'm on my second one in two years. It's the handle on the sides that eventually breaks. |

Answer: | I would say no, for 2 reasons - the blades aren't super sharp and they are too far apart to mince finely. |

Answer: | I haven't personally tried making whipped cream with this, but I remember my mom making whipped cream with the great old-time egg beater she had. Basically, it just takes perseverance! |

Answer: | The nature of quick bread dough is to become tough with too much movement of the batter when combining the wet and dry ingredients. The best method for muffin or quick bread batter is to gently fold the wet and dry ingredients together. If you put any muscle into it, you're going to develop the gluten and produce tough rather than soft quick breads, and muffins and loaves will have a conical peak to the top which is a dead giveaway that you're a novice baker. The best advantage these manual egg beaters have over immersion blenders is the incorporation of air into the mixture. It is ideal when you want to mix a viscous liquid like whole eggs or heavy cream. It incorporated air for fluffy egg whites and clouds of whipped cream. An immersion blender's very small blades are designed to not greatly disturb the surface of the liquid you're blending. This reduces splashing considerably. |

Answer: | I don't believe the hand mixer would be able to handle thick dough. It works well on liquids, eggs, whipped cream, etc., or anything you would use a whisk on. You may need something sturdier for bread mix. |

Answer: | I've had no problem beating 2 eggs in a cereal bowl. It beats them in a shallow bowl but I like to use them in a little deeper bowlbecause it reduces spillage because of the shallow depth. You get a lot of beating speed with very little effort out of this beater.I would not be without one of the OXO egg beaters. |
