Question:	Mine won't turn off? I hold down the play/pause button until it shuts down. But as soon as I let off the button it turns back on
Answer:	I'm assuming you have the owner's/operator's manual available. If you are following the instructions correctly for turning off the device, and it doesn't operate as specified in the manual, that would suggest a malfunctioning unit. I've seen some situations where a contact will stay "closed" which would be the equivalent of holding down the power button which might only RESTART the device (would APPEAR to shut off but then start back up). But first check the manual to be sure you're doing the shut-down correctly.
Question:	If you forget your passcode does the pin in the directions your device came with delete your recordings you already have on it
Answer:	I don’t know, but, to be safe, you could transfer what’s on it to your computer

P.S. question wasn't silly. - it made me think back: once had a BF whose snore had a life its own (so much so that it had its own name: "The Beast") BF, of course denied that he snored at all. Soooo one night I recorded The Beast. A couple of days later I dialed his phone and when he answered I didn't say hello, I just hit play and let him converse with The Beast. I thought it friggin HI-LAR-EE-US! Him? . . . . not so much. Your results may vary. :-)

Question:	How quickly (In seconds) does it go from idle or off to actually recording? Most important feature for me. Thanks
Answer:	There is an unacceptably long delay for it to start recording, up to 10 seconds where it says "please wait." Also clunky and clumsy to use, poor interface. I returned it and got an Olympus VN-541PC which has a button you can slide to ACTUALLY start recording instantly.
Question:	What does the monitor feature do? and why am I getting the Please Wait message before recording

Answer:	Enter the recording options, select AVR settings, then select AVR on. When you enter the recording mode, it will automatically start recording when it detects the sound, and it will stop when it does not detect the sound. It also has a sensitivity setting, you need to set it to the lowest level, otherwise, even your breathing sound can be recorded.
Question:	Does the recorder also have a speaker for playback
Answer:	yes, but the speaker is not a really high quality. I recommend using a headphone when listening back

Answer:	well if it does not matter to you where you carry the recorder they sell arm band carriers to carry the recorder on you upper arm to prevent the recorder from capturing the sound of the material rubbing sounds it captures being in your pocket. I saw it a video on YouTube that's how some paranormal investigators advise so you don't get all the noise pick up from holding it in your hand or the material rubbing sounds, sounds it may picks up from being in your pocket when you walk or move,,,,,,,,, I hope this help you out in some way.
