User questions & answers
Question: | I have a newer samsung smarttv in our bdrm, what else if anything do i need to listen to tv w/o disturbing my sleeping wife |
Answer: | As stated in my review, the first pair of batteries that came with the unit, lasted 4 1/2 years. The little button on the bottom is a 3 channel position slide switch. Depends on the location you place the unit (transceiver) determines the best channel. You will need to try each of the channels for the best reception. Does this answer help you? |
Question: | Do you have to turn the headphone on manually like the old models(RS 170, RS 180)? Or does it turn itself on automatically when you pick it up from the charger |
Answer: | In this order: Connect the headphone base to wall power, but not to the TV. Hang the headset on the base and make sure it's charging (red light will be on). Allow headset to fully charge (a few hours). While the headphone jack is still not connected to the TV: Turn on the TV and turn it up loudly enough that you can hear it. Connect the wire from the headphone base to the TV. Make sure your 3.5 mm connector is plugged all the way into the socket (sometimes people don't push them in far enough). The TV speakers should be muted now. Check to make sure you have a green light on the headphone base, meaning that it is getting an audio signal. Turn on the headphones. You may just hear static, or you may hear distorted TV sound. Turn the fine tuning adjustment on the head phones until you have good audio from the headphones. |
Question: | My samsung tv is connected to my denon receiver for my room sound. will the rs 175 connect without any problems |
Answer: | Our Toshiba TV has on-screen settings menus that allow cutting off the speakers while leaving the audio jacks active. But there are a few menu steps, which gets to be a nuisance when executed 5 - 10 times in an hour. So instead I plug the RS120 base transmitter into the Directv satellite receiver., which allows use of the headset with the TV speakers muted -- or even with the TV turned off. (One tiny issue with that arrangement: the receiver audio and the TV audio are not perfectly synchronized, so if you elect to use the headset while the TV speakers are on, you get an echo effect.) |
Question: | Using the optical audion connection i can hear regular tv but not my samsung hub apps like netflix? any suggestions |
Answer: | Correct. And you'll hear subtle sounds that you don't hear when listening to TV--even if you have a sound bar--when not using headset. I use the RS120 even when I don't need to, i.e., even when no one else is around. |

User questions & answers
Question: | These work in average sized house right? watchig tv then walking to bathroom and still being able to hear television the entire time, 3 rooms away |
Answer: | Yes they will. |
Question: | I have the rs110 transmitter which doesn't have the recharging cradle - can i use regular non-rechargable batteries in these hdr120 headphones |
Answer: | Any regular stereo receiver with input jacks for components. |
Question: | I want to use two(2) 120 Sennheiser headphones with one(1) Transmiter/charging base. Can I use one base for two different rooms without moving it |
Answer: | Stupidly I did not save any of my packaging. In the past stereo units I have purchased never had a problem when new. So all I kept was the original box. This unit s terrible. Most of the functions just randomly do whatever they want. I would suggest a different brand. |
Question: | I want to use it with a Sony Bravia that does not have a headphone plug in the back. Can I? What is the difference between this and the RS |
Answer: | just a receiver - I'm using my very old pioneer receiver that was attached to my pioneer 6 cd changer player that finally stopped working - this is an awesome replacment cd player for the money and I use mine all the time - |

User questions & answers
Question: | So, the "xl" is confusing here. i feel like i have a pretty 'normal' sized head. i'm assuming these could be adjusted for any sized head |
Answer: | their should also be a power cord included. you are describing the audio cable that plugs into the line or preamp or headphone(with an adapter) jacks |
Question: | are these for iphone or android |
Answer: | Make sure you are using the RCA connections, (RED and White) either on the TV itself, the Cable box, or audio out. When you are using the Headphone jack on the TV, it WILL mute out the sound on the rest of the TV. so no sound will emit thru the room. however with the RCA ports you are able to hear the tv on normal volume in the house, and control your headphones to the volume you need so you can hear it better. |
Question: | Do these headphones work without a battery if needed or with a dead battery |
Answer: | Differences are: the 135-9 is new & upgraded. 1) range is more on 135-9 2) weight is more on 135-9. Can buy just the receivers(headset) on the RS120, if it goes bad. |
Question: | are these noise canceling |
Answer: | take the device apart. This product has reached it's end of life cycle, and it's probably time you upgraded. You don't really see too many of these on the market nowadays, everything is integrated now, CD, DVD, Bluray. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use this headset with previous version of charging docks |
Answer: | On the technical spec sheet on the Sennheiser site - it says you can use AAA batteries. It does not specify that they must be rechargeable. Rechargeables are 1.2 Volts each and regular alkaline batteries are 1.5Volts each. They are usually interchangeable - in spite of the slight voltage difference, but not always For 100% accurate answer go here: http://en-us.sennheiser.com/service-support-contact-center-technical-support and ask your question of the tech support people from Sennheiser. Aloha |
Question: | Does the tv sound need to off to use these |
Answer: | We have used 4 headphones with one base connected. Great product. |
Question: | Does this product come without the base or does it come complete? Also, does it work without the base |
Answer: | The RS120 is the audio sender and charger. The headphones won't work without it. The HdR120 is a second headphone for that system. TheRS120 comes with the headphones and sender. You show have audio outs on that Bravia- they are for RCA cables (red and white females). The RS120 will plug in to those jacks. |
Question: | Looking to buy the headsets, already have a pair and charging station. Will a new set of headsets fit on the existing charging station |
Answer: | Since this system comes with the 3.5mm headphone jack you should be able to use it with your Boom Box. your Boom Box needs to have the headphone jack, then the Transmitter base of the RS 135 would be hooked into the boom box at this location. then you should be able use your boombox wirelessly with the headphones. |
User questions & answers
Question: | How do they hook up to my TV |
Answer: | They're Bluetooth so I would assume both. I have an iPhone 6 and it pairs with it. |
Question: | Can you use this set with a TV that has a sound bar connected to it |
Answer: | It comes with built-in battery. You need not buy any additional battery for it. When the built-in battery run out, the headphone still works via wire connection, but not via wireless connection. |
Question: | I have a Sony 40 inch TV that is 3 years old and all I get is static from the headphones. The audio cables are connected directly to the TV audio outputs. I have tried to adjust the headphones, but stll the static. Is there a setting within the TV settings that needs to be set to allow the use of the external devices s |
Answer: | No. But they are pretty good at isolating. You can hear music/podcasts clearly on a noisy, crowded NYC subway. The MM 550-X model from Sennheiser is noise canceling if you are specifically looking for that. |
Question: | These cancel out the TV speakers. What if I want to use TV speakers, must they be unplugged or is there a switch |
Answer: | Yes! I have a moderately small house (1700 sq.ft.) and it works all over the place. The only problem my husband and I have with this is we each have a set of these headphones (each with it's own transmitter) for watching two different programs at once on two different TVs. If I go into the master bath wearing my headphones while watching the master bedroom TV, and if his transmitter in the living room is plugged into our audio receiver and that TV is on, my headphones can switch to his broadcast. The transmitting units have 3 channels to choose from (teeny switch at front of the base of the transmitter), so one can make sure they are on different channels to help prevent that. That having been said, his transmitter is right on the other side of the bathroom wall so I may get static over my broadcast as I get within 4 to 6 feet of it, but only if his TV is on and the transmitter is plugged into the audio receiver. I CAN make sure his transmitter is unplugged from the front of the audio receiver if he's watching TV. It all works for us because the only reason he ever needs to use his headphones is when I'm in my office (a room open to the living room) doing paperwork and he's watching TV. Theoretically, one could even set up 3 different transmitters for 3 different users as long as each transmitter was in different rooms and each user did not cross into another's area. I get his transmission if I walk past the living room to the kitchen to get a snack, but it switches back as I walk back to my room. we use these for TV watching simply to not disturb the other person as we are both getting a bit hard of hearing. If we wanted to listen to different music but sit side by side, I don't think it would work. I know I answered more than you asked, but i thought it might help other potential users reading here to give the full info. These headphones are a supplement set so two different people can listen to the same transmission from one transmitter. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work on Playstation 4 chat |
Answer: | The RS 175 system connects to your TV set's optical digital audio port. You can still control your TV speakers independently. In other words, you can have the TV sound on or off without affecting the headphones. |
Question: | Is this cable same with the original one for momentum? If not, is the quality better or worse |
Answer: | You can purchase the headset with or without the base, but in any case the base is required to connect to your TV or Receiver as well as send the RF signal to the headset(s) to work at all. You can connect up to two headsets to work with a base. |
Question: | Can this cable work on apple |
Answer: | Yes, the new headsets will fit on the charging station, which can pair with up to two HDR 175 headphones. It is very simple to pair the new headsets with the charging station by following the instructions included in the box. |
Question: | Will this work for chat on Xbox One |
Answer: | Go for XL only, I have normal sized head as well. Without XL ones have smaller cups and they are not worth the purchase... Hope this helps!!! - These are adjustable to any size head..!!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come with a warranty |
Answer: | if your tv has audio out or a headphone jack you can use it. The sound bar is probably going through your reciever/amplifier. The other question would be if your tv lets you use the audio out and mute the internal speakers. Most do but you would have to check your tv to be sure. If you want to use the headphones and silence the tv speakers that is up to your tv. If it is run through a reciever then you would use the headphone out jack on the reciever and turn off the output to the speakers. |
Question: | Do these have a microphone built in |
Answer: | Normally what you will want to do is use the TV's headphone jack. This is what the 3.5mm and 1/4" adapters that come in the package are for. Then you will want to configure the headphone audio output for fixed output not variable in the TV config menus. If set to variable, what you get in the headphones is what you have volume set on the TV. When configured for fixed output, then it doesn't matter what the volume is on the TV, you can turn it all the way down or even mute it, and still have complete control of volume in the headphones via it's volume control. |
Question: | How is the bass on these headphones |
Answer: | If your TV has an optical TOSLINK socket or coaxial output get this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T3ZRI44/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. No static, TV and headphone speakers both work. You can use the TV volume to control the TV and the volume and switch on the headset to control it. |
Question: | Anyone have success linking this to a peloton |
Answer: | I have an older RS 170 base. The HDR 175 docks on it well, but it seems to stop charging after a short period of time. The charging indicator then starts going on and off again every few seconds. This makes me nervous about ruining the batteries or even the headset. I can confirm that HDR 175 is fully compatible with the RS 195 system. It fits perfectly on the base for charging, and can be paired to receive the signal as a second headset. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this receive 2 ghz or 5 ghz transmission |
Answer: | Went to the Black and Decker website to find a replacement for mine. https://servicenet.blackanddecker.com/Parts/Detail/326728 |
Question: | I tried the rs 175's and found them tight and uncomfortable. Are the 195's physically different |
Answer: | Lost mine as well, heres a link https://servicenet.blackanddecker.com/Parts/Detail/326728 |
Question: | Why does this new range of models look like something from the 80s |
Answer: | I wipe the bulk of it out with my hand and then rinse and wipe the folds under running water. It's not ideal but not sure of a better way. |
Question: | How many hours dose it last on a single charge |
Answer: | I have very long hair and I notice it does wrap around the bristles and get stuck. However the great thing about this vacuum is the brush piece is removable for cleaning. It comes off the front of the vacuum with just the push of a button, so you can easily access the bristles. Once it's removed it's very easy to clean the bristles of accumulated hair, lint, etc. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these suppress engine noise |
Answer: | They suppress all noise by virtue of the seal around the ear, but they won't block it out because they're not technically noise canceling (no active noise suppression). They also do better with high frequency noise and aren't as good in low frequency where much engine noise lies, which is true of all things that only passively block noise eg ear plugs. So the answer is yes to a limited degree, but it won't be a complete suppression by any means and more in the high frequencies. I've found the combo of these with earplugs to be very effective for airplane noise. |
Question: | Is the cord detachable? The description says it is detachable, answers here say otherwise |
Answer: | The cord is not detachable but it is replaceable. If you're handy with a soldering iron you can however easily add a 3.5mm headphone jack to use a removable cable. |
Question: | How is the sound leakage? l need portable headphones to use in the bus, library, and such. I don't want to bother people around me |
Answer: | There is "sound leakage". At the moment, I have them hooked up to my computer. No special amplification, just on-board Realtek. At 75-100% volume, I can slightly hear them over ambient noise (such as my heater, which is kind of loud) while standing about ten feet away. I don't know if everyone else that answered this question listens to their music at low volume, or if their headphones have some insulation that mine doesn't but in my experience, there is plenty of "sound leakage". Also, you could actually use these as speakers while you're not wearing them. They wouldn't be loud enough to entertain anyone, but you could still listen to something while they sit on your desk. |
Question: | How durable are they in cold weather |
Answer: | I’m a professional location sound mixer in Alaska. I’ve had these headphones out in -50 F weather for 12 hour shoots. These headphones can withstand the cold |

User questions & answers
Question: | How is the audio and noise suppression compared with the Bose QC |
Answer: | For sure, I have one but you have to know that the keys arent weighted as much. I believe this was made more for composing/production the keys are springy compared to a piano but just to stay up on scales chords and stuff i think it would be great. |
Question: | Hello! how do you compare pxc 550 with mdr 1000x from sony |
Answer: | The Nektar impact is shallow so universal stands will be much deeper; however, width is not an issue. I purchased a Yamaha single brace stand with stops at the end. It works very well. |
Question: | Whats the difference between these momentum 2.0 bluetooth? same price point. why choose one over the other |
Answer: | There is no audio output. Your computer sound card generates the audio though you may have to buy a better audio interface to improve audio performance. |
Question: | Can these headphones connect to 2 devices at the same time just like the Bose QC35's |
Answer: | We include the following with the keyboard: USB Cable Bitwig 8-Track Download One (1) Year Limited Warranty |
