User questions & answers
Question: | Hello All can anyone tell me which replacement ear pieces you use for these head phones |
Answer: | Yes. They fit my big head at around size 7 1/2. They adjust. The metal rods pull out of the plastic that attaches to the ears. The rods don't pull out of the headband at the top. I was lucky I did not break anything trying to pull the rods out of the top. |
Question: | does this unit have 1/8 plug capacity |
Answer: | In order to use your MP3 player you must use a headphone jack. Wireless means they are Bluetooth compatible. |
Question: | Does the worktunes bluetooth model have an aux in jack for connecting to a wired audio source |
Answer: | There are 2 concepts here: 1) the type of signal transmitted (sent in digital format or analog format) and 2) the method of reception (analog tuner or digital tuner), This subject is confusing because both of these concepts use the terms digital and analog and people cross mix what they are referring to. This 3m WorkTunes does not receive digital format signals. This receives analog format signals (just like most of our car radios for local radio stations (note, Sirius XM is digital format) (old cars had analog tuners receiving analog format signals). Another way to say it: This headphone's method of reception uses a "digital tuner" to select the exact frequency of analog format transmissions from FM/AM stations. (It does not receive digital format transmissions from FM/AM stations) What it does digitally is set the frequency to the exact frequency and it stays there. With an analog tuner, it is hard to get to the exact frequency and it can drift up and down from the frequency you stopped at. There is no drift in a digital tuner. Digital tuning is the best for this application as it stays on the frequency you want no matter what. Now to answer your question "Is there no station fading". This refers to "digital transmission type" (which you always hear the station 100% or you hear nothing). Since, these headphones only receive "analog transmission types", then YES, you will have fading (because you will hear everything from 100% to 1%). |
Question: | How long is the battery life when Using Bluetooth |
Answer: | The blue tooth simply is not loud houseboy if I am in place where I am using a saw etc forget it I cont even hear it. It doesn't matter if I am hooked with my ophone, the TV, fire stick whatever, it is these headphone that artificially lower the Bluetooth volume. Anything connected to can be put on 100% it doesn't matter. 100% volume using the headphones and 100% volume on anything hooked to it through Bluetooth and it just is not loud enough unless I am doing nothing at all, meaning why have the headphone on in the first place. No way they are loud enough using a mower without straining to even hear what is being played. It really stinks that 50% of what is playing I cant hear over Bluetooth while using these. I have 4 pair over the years and they are all the same. It stupid I think they are trying to pretext our hearing. BUT the FM is ten time louder! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How LONG in feet is the detachable cord |
Answer: | 9-10 Feet. |
Question: | Is this an original brand? or It is made in China |
Answer: | The inside sticker on a pair of these purchased in 2020 shows that it is "Made in China". The production country doesn't always indicate the quality as many name-brands have been outsourced to China. |
Question: | These being 55 ohm models, can you really get by without a headphone amp? I'm coming from Grado SR80s which sound fine without an amp, imho. This is for personal use, no mixing or DJing. Probably using a laptop or my Cowon MP3 player usually |
Answer: | Note : I'm hard of hearing (severe to profound, with more loss in the higher frequency) Comparing these to a Sennheiser HD 280 Pro that I am replacing (the right side died from a bad wire after just a year), using my desktop computer and my Samsung Galaxy J7 Star phone as a reference (using Google Music). On my desktop PC, which is basically your typical RealTek type of integrated sound card, they are a bit on the quiet side, but possibly audible enough for most people with a normal hearing range, but I am able to hear the vocals and bass, just more quietly than I like. The HD280Pro above was a louder by default (but has a higher impedance oddly enough). On my mobile phone, it's louder and while it may not be cranking it out, it's definitely loud enough for me to enjoy without a problem. When paired with my Tascam DR60Mk2 4-channel audio recorder, using the computer output into CH1/CH2 XLR inputs at a 'LOW' gain setting, and headphones plugged into the Phone monitoring 3.5mm jack with an output volume around 6~8 depending, it is much louder and closer to what I prefer. Also with the amplication provided on the tascam (Which is overkill for computer purpose, and meant more as a field recorder) with a Low gain setting is a very clean signal to the headphones and definitely loud enough for someone who is close to deaf as I am. Nutshell : even with me being hard of hearing, using the headphones with a mobile phone or computer directly, it's loud enough for me to hear it, even if it's not like "jamming". Sidenote : Compared to the Sennheiser, these are semi-open backs (versus a closed back), which means not only do the K240 exhibit sounds that other people in the room will be able to hear what you're listening to easily, it also means that as I'm typing on a mechanical keyboard with 'red' switches, I can hear my clacking typing while music is playing on the headphones. |
Question: | What is better for recording and mixing guitar, vocals (for metal). And mixing them. AKG 240 or Audio-Technica ATH-M50? Why |
Answer: | I can't comment on the ATH-M50, as I haven't used one yet. The AKG 240 however is a very good set, but I wouldn't use headphones to mix final masters. Especially not when you have to listen to screaming guitars. For tracking vocals you should be carefull as a sensitive mic would "listen" to the headphones too. Not always welcome when recording soft passages. Hope this helps |

User questions & answers
Question: | how do these compare to the beyerdynamic Dt 990 pro |
Answer: | Both are excellent headphones. The Dt 990 pros will have more treble extension. They both have good bass. The X2's are a little smoother. The Dt pros more energetic. The X2's are very nicely built, well constructed, more aesthetic than the sturdy and quite functional Dt pros. Both have incredible ear pads. The price on the X2's make them the better relative value. They both have quality sound. |
Question: | What is the specification for the microphone |
Answer: | While it does not include a microphone it can easily be paired with something like the VMODA Boom Pro. |
Question: | Will these still be a worthy purchase if I'm not willing to purchase an amplifier as well |
Answer: | The answer is "yes". This headphone is designed to reproduce the full range of audible frequencies in a premium way. So, even if you intend to use it with a non HiFi system, the quality of the sound you will ear through this earphone will be definitely much better compared to that offered by "standard" earphones. In addition, I will add that this earphone is designed following the traditional sound composition by Philips. That is, well balanced bass, warm middles and crystal clear low frequencies, meaning that any MP3 player will benefit from it. |
Question: | I have heard that Phillips has been acquired by Gibson and quality control has suffered. Any truth to that |
Answer: | I heard the same thing so I guess it's true. One issue apparantly has to do with the ear pads being glued on. Some pairs have glue while others do not. The pair I received had no defects at all and the pads were not glued on. They have a tight fit but they are removable. |

Created for excellence
With over 50 years of heritage in headphone acoustics, we remain dedicated to ensuring exacting standards in both sound and ergonomic performance. That's why we continually work to refine and innovate our products, integrating your preferences and experiences into our signature designs.
Fidelio X2HR integrates iconic design matched with an impeccably clear and detailed sound range. With the Philips Fidelio X2HR, immerse yourself in the experience of your own personal concert right at home.
50mm high power drivers
Each speaker is carefully handpicked, tuned and tested, and is paired for the most detailed natural sound. The 50mm drivers utilize high power neodymium magnets to reproduce all your music’s dynamics and deliver well balanced crisp bass, transparent mid-range and pristine high frequencies.
Acoustic open back design
An acoustic open-back architecture eliminates air pressure build-up behind the driver, allowing the diaphragm ample free movement, greatly enhancing sound transparency and smoothening extended high frequencies.
Layered motion control
Layered Motion Control (LMC) drivers feature a multi-layered polymer diaphragm that encases a layer of damping gel. These layers form a flexible boundary and – together with the gel – absorb and dampen any exaggerated frequencies, resulting in a smooth and flatter frequency response. The result is a more balanced, natural and refined range of high frequency sounds.
Pre-tilted drivers fit the ears for minimal sound reflection
The earshells are engineered to tilt at 15 degrees, fitting your ear’s natural geometry and immersing you in a truly precise and unadulterated sound performance. Audio signals are directly channeled into your ears, creating a dynamic and authentic listening experience.
Self-adjustable hammock
The self-adjustable lightweight hammock features an airy 3D mesh, which is not only breathable, but is flexible enough to ensure a perfect fit – always.
Breathable velour & memory foam cushions
Crafting the Philips Fidelio X2HR starts with meticulously choosing each material for its functionality and ergonomic comfort. Deluxe memory foam ear-pads are matched with a velour material of optimized density with high breathability, to dissipate pressure and heat for longer-wearing comfort.
Built for quality
Obsession has its advantages, especially if it fuels our passion in bringing you exceptional acoustic performance and best-in-class detailing. For the ultimate ergonomic fit, our newly enlarged headband features a precisely machined external hinge system coupled with metal tubes wrapped in genuine calf leather.
Double layered earshells
The Philips Fidelio X2HR's double layered earshells are engineered to reduce resonance and vibration, bringing you flawless sound with genuine precision and uncompromised detail. The solid, layered construction ensures durability, making X2HR the ideal music companion at home.

PREMIUM SOUND DESIGNED FOR THOSE WHO KNOW
We're taking headphone design to a new level by combining modern with handcrafted design, using natural materials and focusing on delivering the best premium sound. Our aim is to change the perception of headphones as technical devices or as cheap plastic accessories and create a mature product to fall in love with.
WOOD TECHNOLOGY
The choice of wood is an inherently difficult one. The rich colors of walnut require the use of air drying, a long and expensive procedure. The process of shaping just a single pair of earcups takes up to 8 hours. The whole process of sanding, lacquering, and finishing lasts 45 days. The wooden components are carefully inspected and no flaws are permitted to reach the final assembly.
FULLY SERVICEABLE
We aimed for perfection in every component we designed. CNC carved wood ear cups, cast zinc alloy hardware with electroplated coating, stamped manganese spring steel headband, memory foam and soft PU leather are the materials your hands and eyes will get to enjoy. No plastic here for you to see.

User questions & answers
Question: | How to use the mic? i never used an attachable mic before so i'm a bit confused. my pc doesn't seem to recognize it |
Answer: | This combo of headphone with mic will have only one connector. That means that is won't work on computers because they usually have two inputs; one for mic and one for the headphones. You'll need a dongle to separate them. |
Question: | Are these wired and wireless capable? Via dongle or Bluetooth |
Answer: | They are wired, I suppose there are singles you could get to give them bluetooth capability but not out of the box |
Question: | Does the mic work on xbox out of the box? or do i need to purchase a splitter |
Answer: | I had to purchase a splitter to make it work |
Question: | Does this come with the Philips standard 3.5mm cord as well |
Answer: | Yes, it does. If you don't want to use the mic, a 3.5 mm cord is included. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do these do with movies |
Answer: | The short answer, incredibly awesome. I love watching action and sci/fi movies, and I have a 6 speaker Klipsch system to so do with. However, since I work alot of mid shifts for my job, I can't be blasting my system watching Edge of Tomorrow cuz I have neighbors. These headphones headphones come so close to a $3,000 speaker system, that most users wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The biggest part for me, however, is the bass isn't muddled or overpowering like the Beats headphones. Don't get me wrong, the bass has presence and force, but your movies will sound EXACTLY how the director wanted it to sound in the theater. |
Question: | Can these headphones be used without an amp (Im not an audiophile; not yet, atleast) and if so, is the quality still great |
Answer: | Yes, they can be used without an amp and do well without one, even straight form an iPhone. But like any headphones would benifet from a dedicated DAC/amp. Headphones that need higher input (amp) will be rated at 150 ohm on up to 600 ohm. If only using standard computer mp3 output, look in the 20-60ohm range. |
Question: | Since these are an open headphone, can those around you hear your music? If so, will it be noticeable in a quiet office setting and normal volume |
Answer: | Yes, other people will be able to hear your music. These headphones sound like someone using earphones at 100% of volume even though the headphones are at a low volume level, so yes, people will notice the music in an average office setting. |
Question: | Are these comfortable for long periods of use while wearing prescription glasses |
Answer: | Yes I have thick frame glasses and I have a big head (Cant wear most hats). I wear these with glasses and hats for 8 hours + a day without any discomfort. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Hi, how is this in terms of bass |
Answer: | The sound quality is very good in general. If you’re looking for something real bass, highly recommend that you use a DAC with bass control. For reference I'm using Fosi Audio DAC Q4. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VDQQY95/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 |
Question: | Can anyone compare these to Grado headphones? I have a pair of sr-60's and was wondering if these are any better |
Answer: | These Philips SHP 9500 headphones sound twice as good as the Grado SR-60's. The Philips have a unbelievably good sound stage unlike any headphones I have ever heard. Grado headphones are somewhat harsh in my opinion. You won't find a better pair of headphones under $500.00 than the Philips SHP9500's. |
Question: | are these good to block out loud conversation and music say on a school bus |
Answer: | Amp up the volume enough and you can make the music loud enough that no one can hear each other. |
Question: | How do these compare to the Sennheiser HD |
Answer: | I have both. The SHP 9500 sounds brighter and more forward for 2 reasons: the back is more open and the drivers are closer to your ears. The Sennheiser is more neutral sounding -some find it somewhat muffled unless you do the "mod" (removing a piece of tape inside) - I did. The opening on the Phillips is huge so fit maybe something to consider for one who wears a small size hat.The stock Sennheiser cable/plug size is for Home stereo. I mostly listen on an I-pod so I had to replace the stock cable - a $22 accessory. It was well worth it!!! The Phillips comes with a long but replaceable cable. As mentioned, I mostly use an ipod for portability and convenience so I replaced the cable with a much shorter 1.3 m monster cable that I picked up for $ 25. I played both headphones for 100 hours to allow them to "bloom". They have differing sound signatures and I can use them for long listening sessions. I love long solitary hikes and being "open type" they allow ambient noise to be heard - I just amp up the volume. Indoors, I can play them softly. By now, you can see that I am not a critical listener and use the headphones to enjoy music in any environment. I defer to the experts for the critical listening opinions.I use the headphones with a Fiio 7 portable amp. This is a winning combination. Both will sound good on an ipod without any boost but if you want presence, amp it up! We all have different ears...I have no qualms about using EQ either.Let me sum it up - If I catch a cold and sneezing results in some swelling if the ears, I will use the Phillips. Good Luck!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Hello, differences between the hd569 and the hd579? What of these is better |
Answer: | Hello, It all depends on what you are looking for, HD 569 is a closed type headphone, it isolates you from your environment and vice-versa (ie: the sound is contained within the headphones). This is perfect for critical listening or a situation where you do not want to disturb/be disturbed. While HD 579 is an open type, it means that it avoids adverse resonating effects in the earcup thus offering best possible sound reproduction with the utmost in transparency. For sound quality, HD 569 is better, it does have strong and juicier bass. |
Question: | do they have batteries |
Answer: | They do not need batteries. |
Question: | Is the headband replaceable on the 569? Also, what replacement ear pads are compatible with this model |
Answer: | Because the wire runs from the left ear cup through the band to the right, I doubt you could replace the headband without replacing the whole unit. Fortunately the headband is highly flexible and very durable; so you may not need to replace it in the life of the headphones. As far as the ear pads themselves, I believe they are the same as the rest of the 500 series. |
Question: | Hi, differences between 598cs and 569? also I'd like to know if it is possible to use v-moda boompro cable or similar instead of provided. thanks |
Answer: | I have both and the sound is IDENTICAL. The 598cs is a special Amazon Only model. The builds are a bit different, and I do find the HD-569s a tad more comfortable (in the headband). Again, absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in the sound. |

User questions & answers
Question: | These are now 2x the price of Elear - is it worth the double in price |
Answer: | I think they are definitely worth the price. You are getting 90-95% of the Focal Utopia sound quality for less than 40% of the Utopia price ($1500 vs $3995). Go the following website and search for the Focal Clear Video Review by Tyll Hertsens: https://www.innerfidelity.com/ |
Question: | What are the measurements of the earcups on the inside to check ear fit |
Answer: | The inside of the earcup measures about 6cm long ,5cm wide.. Fits really well. |
Question: | Are there any Clear owners out there whose ears are bigger than the ear cup openings |
Answer: | I own Clear microphones and use them many times during the week. They are awesome, well designed, are comfortable to wear and give wonderful sound reproduction. Get a pair, use them and enjoy, if you are unhappy with them return to vendor. I have big ears, no problems. These are over the ear phones not requiring exact ear cup alignment |
Question: | Dac/amp suggestion? chord mojo? ifi audio micro idsd? shiit stack? something else not listed |
Answer: | Any DAC/amp with reasonable power will be fine. Even an iPhone may be fine. |

User questions & answers
Question: | do the headphones cover the whole ear or do they rest on it |
Answer: | They rest on your ears. They do not completely go around them. |
Question: | I bought these to plug into the headphone jack on my laptop. The plug looks way too big. Is there an adapter I can buy or should I return the headphones |
Answer: | Are you sure you can't twist it off? A while back I bought a pair of Sony headphones that had a 1/4 inch jack and you could just twist or pull out the converter to reveal a 3.5mm. I use headphones for guitar practice so I keep the 1/4 inch on. |
Question: | does it fit a computer |
Answer: | It fits the audio jack on my computer just fine! :) It's just a standard headphone plug, so as long as you have a place to plug in a set of headphones, you should be good! |
Question: | How is the volume on this? I have a hearing problem and sounds are usually too low for me to enjoy |
Answer: | You want to look at dB SPL output...I saw a spec sheet saying that these produce 108 dB SPL compared to the next model up which produces 115 which would be dangerous as 112 dB SPL is the level at which permanent hearing damage occurs. 108 dB SPL (sound pressure level, or how we hear volume) should be enough as it is 5 times the SPL of ambient room noise. (every increase of 6 dB doubles the intensity) Electronic specs really have to do with matching the amplifier to the speaker (in this case the small ones in the headphones) hope this helps some. btw I am not Kevin I'm using his login now. |

User questions & answers
Question: | since there are the vents on the side, does the sound leak? can others hear it |
Answer: | These headphones are semi open back design. They sound much airier and natural compared to the closed back kind design. However on the downside, they do leak to some extent, specially on higher volumes. Others will be able to hear the higher freq. but will not be able to distinguish what is being played. Hope this helps. |
Question: | How do these compare to the Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones |
Answer: | I own both sets. The Sennheiser HD 598 and their predecessors HD 595 (see my review) are extremely SMOOTH, headphones you can fall asleep to. The Beyerdynamic DT 990-Pro 250 ohm are ANALYTICAL headphones. You will not fall asleep with these as they demand your full attention. Different purpose I would say. |
Question: | I see alot of reviews saying these headphones fatigue fairly quickly. I saw simuliar views on the grados and after an hour they began to really hurt |
Answer: | This is a common complaint, but let me clear things up a bit. Treble can sound fatiguing for two reasons: 1. energy storage in the treble, 2. loud treble. Energy storage is very bad, think of when you ring a bell. After the initial strike the bell continues ringing for several seconds. You don't want your headphones to do this, because not only will you get loud fatiguing treble, all the notes will blend together. An eq will not fix this. The second reason is having clean treble that's just louder than the rest of the spectrum. Grados are fatiguing for the first reason, DT990s for the second. The DT990 actually have very fast treble (no ringing), there's just a good 4-6dB bump from roughly 4 or 5khz up to about 8 or 9khz. If you tune that down with an EQ they sound great. Honestly I don't even use an EQ anymore, but if it bothers you and you have an eq, it's easy to fix. |
Question: | Are these better than beats are they more comftorable and do they have better sound quality, also does it have a mic |
Answer: | The point of these is purely sound quality and comfort, not portability. For the 80ohm you might be able to use ur phone, but for the 250s u need a dac/amp. |
