User questions & answers

Question: Can the FT4 display calories burned and heart rate on the same screen at the same time like my F
Answer: No, unfortunately there is a screen for calories, a screen for HR, a screen for zone, and a screen for time of day and the timer, but no screen combines them all.
Question: Does this include the sensor
Answer: Yes
Question: Can i change the batteries or do I have to send it back
Answer: I chained the battery twice in the transmitter, still not working. I always detach the transmitter to the strap. Anyone have this issue?
Question: I weigh 139lbs and walked at 4mph for 60mins - heart rate between 126-133. It showed I burned 538 calories! Is mine defective
Answer: This watch (and most other HRMs) gives TOTAL calories during that workout time, not NET for the workout. You burn a certain amount of calories during the day (Total Daily Energy Expenditure TDEE, which equals the calories you need to survive: Basal Metabolic Rate BMR + activity burned calories). So, if you put on the HRM and sit on the couch, it will show that calories are being burned. You need to not count those calories or you'll be "double counting" during the exercise.Let's say you burn 2400 calories a day normally. On average, you'll burn 100 calories an hour (24 hours in a day) just by normally existing (breathing, walking around, etc.). If you exercise for an hour, and the HRM shows 500 calories burned, that INCLUDES that normal 100. You've burned an EXTRA 400 in addition to the normal 100. So don't overestimate, especially if you're on a diet/fitness program! Find out your TDEE and for an hour's workout would need you to subtract out 1/24th of that! For half an hour, 1/48 (so, 50 calories using the above example). Hope that helps.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How should I wear the H7 sensor?

Moisten the electrode areas of the strap with water, attach the connector to the strap and wrap the strap around your chest. The heart rate sensor should be worn flat against the skin with the Polar logo in the upright position.

How should I clean the H7 sensor?

Detach the connector from the strap after every use and rinse the strap under running water. Hang the strap to dry. When needed, hand wash the strap gently with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid moisturizing soaps. Do not soak, iron, dry clean or bleach the strap. Also, don’t stretch the strap or bend the electrode areas sharply.

How should I store my H7 sensor?

Store the heart rate sensor strap and the connector separately to maximize the battery lifetime. Keep the heart rate sensor in a cool, dry place. To prevent snap oxidation, do not store the heart rate sensor wet in non-breathable material. Also, don’t expose the heart rate sensor to direct sunlight for extended periods.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this product track calories burned
Answer: This product is an HRM (Heart Rate Monitor), it measures the heart rate and transmits it to the device/app it is paired with. The device/app has more information about you (age, gender, weight, etc.) and your activity (walking, biking, etc.), the device/app then determines the data you need - kcals burned, avg. heart rate, max. heartrate, etc.IOW, the H7 has absolutely no idea of anything except the "pulse" rate. To be more specific, it is just measuring "pulses" per minute (probably every 10-15 seconds) - those "pulses" could be coming from a heart or something else.
Question: Does it work well with iPhone
Answer: I have the Iphone 6 and I cannot get my heart rate to be picked up? I have made sure it was positioned right, that it was wet like suggested and still I cannot get the polar beat app to recognize my heart rate. I can find it with bluetooth but it won't pick up my heart rate. I really don't want to have to return this so I am hoping someone can help me get it figured out.
Question: Can i make it make a sound (or peep) when my heart rate reach specific rate
Answer: The app on your smartphone will have to be setup to make a sound when a specific HR is reached. Several apps do this (typically in the interval setup function). The Polar H7 is just the monitor which relays the HR information to your smart phone, gym equipment, or HR watch. These units then determine what happens to the information. If you pair with a smartphone you should have no problems obtaining the functionality.
Question: My chest measures 30 inches. The xs/s fits up to 30 inch chest, and the m/xxl fits 30 inches and above. Any suggestions as to which I should order
Answer: It also depends on how tight you need to wear it. I wear the M/XXL at or near the smallest size, even though my chest is 34", because my breastbone is a bit concave and the sensor doesn't always pick up well unless it's flat. That's not the most comfortable (though it's not bad for a few hours), but it's the most effective for me. Mine may be a bit stretched out, though; I alternate between 2 straps, but I use them frequently and have owned each for at least a year, and I had probably a 37-38" chest when I first got them. That said, I'd personally go with the XS/S if I had a 30" chest - but if you're the kind of person who can get underwire to lie flat against your breastbone, you'll probably be fine with the larger strap.

User questions & answers

Question: will this watch allow the Nike run club app detect my heart rate while using the app for a run? my phone is a pixel 5 with Google Fit integrated
Answer: NO!!! ONLY Fit For Polar A300.
Question: Does the M200 show your calorie burn progress in real time during your workout? Or do you have to wait till you retrieve your workout data after
Answer: With any wrist HRM they all use optical sensor which are less accurate or, rather produce inconsistent heart rate readings with rapid changes during session intervals (e.g. high-intensity change-ups, etc). That technology just doesn't allow the light sensors to calculate rapid changes in HRs fast enough to provide the accurate HR readouts most of us require. Some mfrs may claim their optical sensor technology is better than others but, again, those optical sensord just cannot calculate the rapid changes fast enough in ANY of these wrist (or arm) to provide HRs close to what our max HRs may actually be. So, as Hector Moreno suggested, no to accurate heart rate on high intensity change-ups during our sessions and, yes, the chest straps allegedly provide more accurate readings with faster calculations (getting wrist fitness or smart watches to read those HRs from chest straps WITHOUT a proprietary mfr's application sometimes is an obstacle, an HR "roadblock").
Question: Does this have a backlight
Answer: The Vantage M does not have gorilla glass. The Vantage V however does. - Mike@PolarUSA
Question: Does it track your steps
Answer: Yes, the Vantage M can indeed be paired with the Polar H10 heart rate sensor. - Mike@PolarUSA

User questions & answers

Question: Any idea if this will work with a rogue echo assault bike or concept 2 rower? just found out i have heart problems, so i need to monitor my ticker
Answer: If I remember correctly the Concept 2 rowers have ANT+ and work with Polar monitors. We used to borrow chest straps from the front desk at my rowing club during winter training, but it meant we had to find certain "new" machines. That would have been when the Concept 2's were newer.
Question: Is it possible to view the data from the polar oh1+ "live" on a pc if connected via bluetooth
Answer: I don’t know. It is possible on a Garmin watch and presumably a polar or Suunto watch.
Question: Is it possible to only buy the USB charging adaptater
Answer: Contact Polar customer support.
Question: How is this different from the OH
Answer: The OH1+ has the added benefit of transmitting on both the Bluetooth and ANT+. It is also packaged with a special google clip to be used when swimming. This clip holds the sensor next to the temple to capture heart rate readings. - MikePolarUSA

User questions & answers

Question: If using the chest strap, does the watch automatically use the data from the chest strap
Answer: In my experience, this watch does not communicate with the sensor attached to the chest strap, so is not a solution. I bought another polar, the F1, which works with the transmitter attached to the chest strap and use it in the other hand. The M430 does not acknowledge the HR beating during the first 8 minutes. From that moment on it goes at similar levels than the F1. I have observed this behavior several times and it is always the same. Why? Don t know.
Question: Hi, is there a back light on this
Answer: Yes, it has a blue backlight.
Question: What is the actual battery life? Do you need to plug it in every 12-24 hours
Answer: I'm getting a full week on a charge, using the GPS and HR functions about an hour a day on average, and wearing it the rest of the time.
Question: is it compatible to h10 sensor
Answer: Yes I use mine with a H10. If you use a heart rate strap sensor the built in one turns off and the watch battery lasts longer.
