In order to play the buttons, I think it would fit a 14 year old hands better. I did have a good sound, if that helps. I would make sure it could be returned if unsure. Hope that helps.

Be aware that thus is a diatonic instrument meaning that when you pull on the bellows it’s one set if notes and when you push on the bellows it’s another set of notes. This is unlike a standard accordion where you can push or pull and the same button or bass key plays the same note either way.
