User questions & answers

Question: Is this watch waterproof
Answer: It does not have speaker, so unfortunately no.
Question: Does this track elevation gain during your run
Answer: The Garmin keeps track of everything a Fitbit does, steps ,heart rate, calories, etc. That said, if youre doing something "special", like a long run, by pushing 1 button (top rt.) and touching the watch screen once, it will connect with gps and after you're run, will show you a map of youre route with that run's stats. You can do this for all types of activities, not just running or walking. It even has a treadmill, or cycling setting. I love this watch, i think you will too. Its VERY easy to learn, most activities are done with 1 or 2 touches!
Question: Would this fit a small woman's wrist
Answer: No you don’t
Question: What advantage does the 235 have over the 35 to justify $100+ more
Answer: Yes, as long as the phone meets our 'Bluetooth' requirements. Please go to support.garmin.com where you'll find FAQ's on the 'Bluetooth' requirements. Debbie with Garmin

GPS Running Watch with Music and Contactless Payments

With up to 500 songs worth of music storage built right into your watch, we’re putting the 'beat' in your daily mission to beat yesterday. It’s easy to transfer music from your computer and then queue up your favorite playlist for easy listening through Bluetooth headphones. You can even sync your carefully crafted playlists from select music streaming services to your watch for more ad-free listening. Now you really can leave your phone behind when you head out for a run, because the music that helps keep you moving is right there on your wrist.

Paying Made Easy

Always on the run? Feel free to leave your phone and wallet behind. Forerunner 645 Music features Garmin Pay contactless payment solution, which lets you pay for purchases with your watch. Use it just about anywhere you can tap your card to pay. A bottle of water here, a bite to eat there — just pay, and keep on moving.

Tune up Your Training

We’re making it easier to get the data you need to improve your form. Let Forerunner 645 Music measure crucial running metrics that you can use to analyze your performance. Biomechanical measurements, such as cadence, stride length, ground contact time and balance, vertical oscillation and vertical ratio, are the key to understanding your form so you can bring your best on race day. These metrics are available with the addition of a compatible heart rate strap or the compact Running Dynamics Pod, which clips right onto your waistband. Also, take advantage of feature sets to help with cycling and even swim training. In the pool, Forerunner 645 will track your distance, pace, stroke count and more.

Monitor Your Performance

Just how effective is your current training plan? Forerunner 645 Music will help you monitor your training and recovery so you can better prepare for a race or training cycle. Training status is a performance monitoring tool that automatically evaluates your recent exercise history and performance indicators to let you know if you’re training productively, peaking or overreaching. The anaerobic training effect metric opens a window of insight to a critical dimension of training, telling you how your training is improving your ability to push the limits. You can even view your overall training load, which measures your exercise volume from the last 7 days and compares it to the optimal range for your fitness and recent training history.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it track or can I add snowboarding as one of the the sports
Answer: Sort of.... it offers an "other" activity on the watch which will GPS track time, distance and heartrate. Once uploaded into the app you can then change activity type to snowboarding in the app (you can choose between backcountry or "resort" snowboarding)
Question: Does this watch have GPS
Answer: yes, it works well for the price point. I had this before i upgraded to the 935. GPS is the same on both.
Question: What’s the intended country of use? each model has shown europe, asia, us. this one does not indicate. the cheaper ones have been non-us so far
Answer: Mine was for the United States
Question: Can you see the pace your entire run out do you have to toggle screens to get to it each time? I like to check my pace very often
Answer: Entire run if you choose. You can actually have up to four (4) data screens on the watch at once in the same screen. You can set up the screen to have 1-4 metrics. You can have up to 2 screens total, I believe, so 8 metrics if you toggle back and forth. I just keep total time, lap time, lap pace and lap count on one and some of the other stuff in the second screen. It’s designed to show what you choose to be shown. It’s a great feature.

User questions & answers

Question: does the charger and manual are included right
Answer: You can purchase the watch/sensor package, but no this one didn't come with the sensor. Sensors can be purchased separately. You don't need the sensor for the watch to work. My understanding is that the sensor measures your stride, which isn't necessary with the other functions of the watch.
Question: Does Garmin 25 Large track and display where you ran on a map so you can see exactly where you ran after the run
Answer: Hello, thank you for your question! Yes, this watch has an hourly chime option that can be turned ON/OFF.
Question: I noticed during running the watch would change from displaying the second data screen back to the time, is that normal
Answer: You don't wear this watch with a business shirt and suit. It is not appropriate but it is beyond the point of the question. The watch is slim enough for its kind. It isn't as thick as the Casio G-Shock but it isn't a dress watch. It is a sport watch. If you need a slim watch to wear with the suit, you should look somewhere else.
Question: Does this watch track date, distance and duration all at once
Answer: Hello, thank you for your question! Yes this watch has a 2-time zone setting.

User questions & answers

Question: what data does it measure
Answer: Yes, I think so. The squeaking just shows the grade A rubber sole's they use for Nike shoes. It shows good traction on the shoes 👟 to. But to answer your question, mine doesn't squeak. They fit perfectly.
Question: Does it have to be connected to a phone's gps in order to be accurate? or does it have a gps installed with in it
Answer: Yes. The battery lasts for quite a while, and it's default mode is to show the time. You can set one alarm, and it has a stopwatch function you can use as well. However, it is missing a few things that might annoy you: it doesn't have a backlight so it's hard to read in the dark, and it doesn't have a timer (I need one when I make tea). It also isn't a smart watch so it won't pair with your phone and show emails or anything like that. As a simple watch though, it does just fine.
Question: How well does this work for bicycling? I’m not a runner. Thanks in advance
Answer: For when you do intervals yeah .. you can set it to 100 meter dash then it starts a countdown of your choosing of how long of a break you take before you go again
Question: Can it perform as a regular stopwatch without having to use GPS and count it as a new workout
Answer: No it does not play music

Timex Ironman GPS

Just select your workout and start. Quickly connect to GPS for real-time pace, speed and distance. After your workout, upload and charge with the universal micro USB cable. Ready. Set. Go.

The Timex Ironman collection has been helping athletes cross finish lines since 1986, and we know that athletes want to do what they love, not stand around and push buttons, so we made it simpler without any compromise. There are no hassles or extra frills to get in the way of your run.

With multisport training functionality for running, swimming, and biking, plus a variety of metric displays, interval timers, and a race mode, this watch will help even the most advanced athletes complete their goals.

Simple Interface

Every day we are faced with the challenge of finding time in the day to workout. When you finally find time to get out and run, don’t waste your time figuring out how your GPS watch works. Timex Ironman GPS is as easy as 1,2,3.

Long GPS Battery Life

The Timex Ironman GPS packs a punch with its 12 hour GPS battery life. Long enough to get you through a long running event or to run multiple times without needing a charge. We are all bogged down charging multiple devices on a daily basis, so don’t let your GPS watch be one of those things.

Quick GPS Fix

How many times have you been pumped and ready to take off for your run, only to be stalled by your slowly connecting GPS watch? Don’t lag behind other runners because your GPS watch takes forever to find signal. The Timex Ironman GPS uses the latest antenna technology and satellite location assistance to get you out on the road and running before you lose the motivation. Now you can take off first and be the leader of the pack.

Universal Cable

Charging clips and cradles are the farthest thing from convenient. We’ve had enough of each device needing a proprietary cable and we are sure you feel the same way. Use a standard, universal micro USB cable to charge and transfer workouts from the Timex Ironman GPS. Each Timex Ironman GPS includes a micro USB cable. However, if you lose it, any spare micro USB cable will do the job. Now that's convenience!

Lightweight, Slim Design

We know how much you value a thin, lightweight watch. Timex Ironman GPS delivers on both of those needs while providing a 50-meter water-resistant case. No more sacrifice, we give you everything you want and need.

Advanced Training Features

Yes, we focused on making this watch as simple and easy as possible. However, we believe in your growth and know that in less than a year you will be achieving goals you never thought were possible. For that reason, we built in some advanced functions that we know you will love and use in the near future, such as customizable training pages, multisport timing functionality and pace alerts.

User questions & answers

Question: When in "normal" non-exercise mode, can i set the watch face just to display time, day & date
Answer: Yes, I wear it as a watch that normally displays time, date and battery life. Then I can toggle thru other displays when I want to see heart rate, steps, weather, calendar, workout, or any of the other features.
Question: Does the GPS work if it's covered by a jacket or long sleeved shirt
Answer: I purchased this for my wife so I do not use it however I am a surveyor so I do have vast experience with GPS. GPS signals will not be hindered by thin materials such as cloth. Inside buildings with wood and shingle roofs will throw the location of a bit reducing the accuracy. GPS signals simply do not penetrate metal objects. That being said you should not experience any loss of signal or accuracy using typical clothing items. You may experience some issues if the device was covered with something metallic such as those solar blankets. Perhaps a good experiment to ease your mind is use your cell phone's GPS tucked into your sleeve as the technology is nearly identical in all small consumer products.
Question: Is it water resistant
Answer: Yes, it is...I looked at the manual and the water rating is actually 5 ATM (atmospheres), not 5 meters. 5 ATM actually equates to about 50 meters deep, so technically you could swim or shower with this watch just fine. Just be aware that this model doesn't currently have any swim tracking features built in so there's not much of a point to swimming with it anyway (although you can install apps from Garmin Connect IQ, so perhaps there is a swim tracking app on there).Source: http://www.garmin.com/en-US/legal/waterrating(the "Swim" section of the table on that page has a footnote which references devices rated at 5ATM)
Question: Does this watch have continuous heart rate monitoring like the fitbit surge
Answer: I am not familiar with the fitbit however this garmin 235 monitors your heart rate constantly as long as you are wearing it. I wear mine even while I am sleeping. It is neat to see my resting heartbeat. Love it!

GPS Running Smartwatch with Music and Advanced Training Features

You do the running. Forerunner 245 Music does the thinking. It even gets to know you, mile after mile and song after song. This GPS smartwatch has storage for your favorite tunes, so you can keep moving to the music without having to lug your phone along. It also tracks your stats, crunches the numbers and gets to know all about your performance, your running form, your training history and even your goals. All you need to focus on is putting one foot in front of the other.

Let the Music Play

Sync your carefully crafted playlists from select music streaming services (requires premium subscription with a third-party music provider) — such as Deezer and Spotify — to your watch for ad-free listening. You can even store up to 500 songs right on your watch. It’s easy to transfer music from your computer and then queue up your favorite playlist for easy listening through headphones enabled with BLUETOOTH technology.

Advanced Performance Analytics

What amount of training is right for you? Forerunner 245 Music offers personalized training and recovery insight for smarter training decisions, helping you prepare for your next race. It keeps tabs on your VO2 max and understands how heat and altitude impact your performance. The higher your VO2 max, the higher you can expect to perform, which is exactly what is shown by the performance condition metric. Training status evaluates your recent exercise history and performance indicators to let you know if you’re training productively, peaking or overreaching. See how your workouts influence the development of endurance, speed and power with aerobic and anaerobic training effect feedback. Recovery time helps you maximize the benefit of your efforts by predicting when you will be ready for your next challenge. You can view your overall training load, which measures your exercise volume from the last 7 days and compares it to the optimal range for your fitness and recent training history.

User questions & answers

Question: is this touch screen
Answer: Touch screen is garbage for exercise. Sweat + touch screen = no good.
Question: How do you tell it is Asian version
Answer: Primarily by its part number: APAC: Garmin part 010-01746-16 ROW: Garmin part 010-01746-00 APAC is the Asian version, and ROW is "Rest Of World". Functionally, there isnt much of a difference that you would know about. The APAC (Asian version) lags behind a month to several months for software version updates, but it does catch up eventually. The primary difference according to forums on the subject is language availability. That being said, I have not yet read where anyone having an Asian model could not do everything functionally that everyone else could do, including uploading data to Garmin Connect and usage of the site. This link will show you the picture differences in the packaging -note the part number difference: https://imgur.com/gallery/shzkPSh
Question: If it has the wrist heart rate monitor why do we need to buy the heart rate straps
Answer: The wrist monitor doesn't work in the water, which is why you'd want the SWIM band. Also, it isn't quite as accurate as a strap, which is what the regular TRI band is for. It also gives you running metrics that just the watch doesn't give you - that said, if you don't want a strap and want the metrics, there is a RD pod product from Garmin you can just clip onto your shorts. Personally, just the watch and the built in monitor are fine for me, as I use this watch primarily for running and biking.
Question: Is this the apac (asia pacific) version or the row (rest of world) version
Answer: I received mine on 25 March and it's the ROW version. I went with the default "fulfilled by Amazon" via one-day prime delivery. Not sure who the original seller was.

Forerunner 935
Monitor Your Performance, Training and Recovery

Just how effective is your current training plan? Forerunner 935 will help you monitor your training and recovery so you can better prepare for a race or training cycle. Training status is a new performance monitoring tool that automatically evaluates your recent exercise history and performance indicators to let you know if you’re training productively, peaking or overreaching. The new anaerobic training effect metric opens a window of insight to a critical dimension of training.

Analyze Your Technique

We’re making it easier to get the data you need to improve your form. Let Forerunner 935 measure crucial running metrics that you can use to analyze your performance. Biomechanical measurements such as cadence, stride length, ground contact time and balance, vertical oscillation and vertical ratio are the key to understanding your form so you can bring your best on race day. These metrics are available with the addition of a compatible heart rate strap or the compact Running Dynamics Pod, which clips right onto your waistband.

Run, Sprint, Swim, Bike, Tri

Your routine is anything but routine. Forerunner 935 lets you change things up with ease thanks to built-in activity profiles for running (indoor/outdoor), cycling (indoor/outdoor), swimming (pool/open water), cross-country skiing, paddle sports, trail running, hiking, strength training and many more. For brick workouts and du/triathlon races, the auto multisport feature lets you switch sports with just one button press. The 935 is compatible with advanced workouts for running, cycling — and even pool swimming.

Smarter Connections

Smart notifications delivered right to your wrist are just the beginning. When paired with your compatible smartphone, Forerunner 935 also gives you access to automatic uploads to Garmin Connect, audio prompts, music controls and more. Let your loved ones follow your runs and rides in real time with LiveTrack — or use GroupTrack, which lets you keep tabs on your riding buddies as you go. For getting your data to and from the cloud, if you like the quick connection Wi-Fi provides, 935 can do that, too.

Follow Your Heart

Wrist-based heart rate might be an easy choice when you want to move without restrictions on race day, but Forerunner 935 gives you the option to tap into much more data with the addition of a compatible heart rate strap. A chest strap heart rate monitor (like HRM-Run or HRM-Tri) unlocks advanced features such as lactate threshold and the HRV (heart rate variability) stress test.

Make Every Day a Competition

Get the extra push you need to beat yesterday with Strava Live Segments. Strava Premium members can sync running and cycling segments to their 935 for live feedback during their activities. Also get alerts for segment starts and finishes, view leaderboard rankings, and see how your current effort compares to your PR.
