Answer:	I would think so, yes. This is stainless steal. I've made rice in non- stick pans and it sticks a little

Answer:	it's to allow some steam and air pressure to escape the pot. it's basically a safety feature that prevents the pressure created by the steam and the boiling water from over-pressurizing the pot. without it at worst the lid would blow off the top or at best rattle around on top of it. but with it your food gets steamed and none of the problems already mentioned will happen unless it gets blocked in some way. hope this helped a little and as always, please have a good day.

Answer:	Yes. Fits the same on the bottom pot as if on top of the steamer itself. For if you want to keep what you cooked in the pot with the lid on

Answer:	There are approximately 3 inches between the bottom of the sieve insert and the bottom of the pan that holds the water. So you can have less than three inches of water in the pan before touching the bottom of the sieve. It depends how much you want to steam but I usually put in a little over 1.5 inches of water in the pan which leaves a little less than 1.5 inches space between the water level and the bottom of the sieve.
