Answer: | Use a key or screwdriver. It will pop open and slide. Be gentle so you don’t bend or scratch it though. |
Question: | If making a choice, should i chose the griffin, or the otter box |

Answer: | Yes I have dropped mine a few times on a concrete floor and not even a scratch on the phone |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the Apple Pencil be stored in this case also |
Answer: | Three layers plus a detachable stand. First a hard shell to put iPad in. Then a heavy vinyl casing shell for the hard shell. Then a plastic snap on cover for the screen. Similar to otter box cases. Excellent I pad case. |
Question: | Does the case have a place for the pencil |
Answer: | I would think so. The model I put in was a recent model. |
Question: | Is the hand strap removable |
Answer: | Used both. Griffin better. |
Question: | Does this come with a screen protector |
Answer: | Yes, but apparently it will not fit the Pro. Can't tell you how long it took me to figure out what would and wouldn't fit. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Am I really the only one that has a problem with this case muffling the microphone when taking videos |
Answer: | I think Griffin is marketing it as though it fits both iPad mini and iPad mini 2. (On their website it looks like the same product is shown on both the iPad mini and iPad mini retina pages). However, I got this case for my iPad mini 2 and would say that I'm not 100% sure they should be doing that. The corners curl off the screen just the slightest amount in a way that I don't think they should be and the plastic sides don't entirely line up together in a way that I think they should. It's just slightly less secure/sealed than I think it should be and I worry that it might not be as strong in a drop. That said: (1) I've never seen how the same cover fits the thinner iPad mini... maybe it does these same things with that device?, and (2) I still think it's one of the more protective models out there so I am keeping it. I note that Otterbox did the same thing with their iPad mini case -- though it is not made to have the same glove-like fit so it didn't seem to be the same issue when I tried that one. Despite the better fit of the Otterbox, I decided to keep the Survivor because I didn't like the Otterbox for other reasons (WAY too hard to get off). I think Griffin should come out with an iPad mini 2-specific cover, but in the absence of one, I am keeping this one as still a better bet than the other options out there for someone who wants a very durable case just short of the tank that is Otterbox. |
Question: | does this fit 8th gen ipad |
Answer: | The iPad mini retina is .3mm deeper than a regular mini: iPad Mini Retina Depth:0.29 inch (7.5 mm) versus iPad Mini Depth:0.28 inch (7.2 mm). Guess what? That .3mm is enough to make it an awkward fit in this case especially up where the volumes buttons are. I was trying to figure out, after numerous times and attempts to get it wrapped around my mini retina, why the one corner of the cover wouldn't snap tightly with the case and then I looked at the specs before I reached the point of throwing the damn thing against the wall. I like this case, but where the case snaps together, the cover and case 'clasps' are plastic and they will eventually wear out over time if you take the case apart a lot, or may even break if you try and force the connection. This would ultimately defeat the integrity of the environmental protection this case is supposed to afford. I FINALLY got it assembled, but the protective screen is just slightly up above the iPad screen which it wasn't with my regular mini and I have to press down a little hard to make contact. To me it sucks, but I guess I will have to just get used to it. Hope this helps and answers this question. |
Question: | does this case fit ipad 10.2" (2019) / 7th gen |
Answer: | The case itself has a screen protector. I have a very active 9 year old who can pretty much destroy everything he plays with. This case however, has proven indestructible in his hands. His iPad mini has remained unscathed since last Christmas. |
Question: | does it have a screen protector |
Answer: | I don't remember but I can vouch for the quality! My six year old has not broken his mini pad and had had it since July. It's a great product and comparable to otter box in quality. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this fit the ipad 5th generation |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Would this model be ok for Ipad Air |
Answer: | I believe it will “fit” most likely. I don’t believe and after searching on Google only one set of dimensions come up for the mini. 200 x 134.7 x 7.2 mm (7.87 x 5.30 x 0.28 in) This means the case will fit, the only issue is the location of the buttons. Improvements in screen size and the location of the buttons down to possibly millimeters may make a huge difference when applying pressure to buttons and so forth. I apologize I can’t help further! |
Question: | Would this model be ok for and apple ipad air md785e/a apple a7 1 gb memory 16 gb |
Answer: | No, this particular survivor case (model #GB41360) is strictly for iPad Mini 4. The ports, buttons, etc. on the iPad mini 1-3 are in different locations than on the iPad mini 4. |
Question: | will this fit ipad a |
Answer: | Not that had to google "intrinsically safe" or anything, but the case keeps the iPad safe from impact. I can say I have not experienced any over heating issues with the case but water can get in. Case is all plastic and would not do much to impede any outside interference from nefarious individuals. My 6 year old assistant upgraded to a full size iPad, and I purchased a second replacement case for the mini when giving to the 2 year old assistant. I would say the old case still works but has seen significant "normal" wear and tear after 3 years of use. I haven't personally tested it from anything further than about 4 to 5 ft from the ground but my 2 yr old assistant has given the case flight lessons. The case has failed to fly and crash landed into various objects. The iPad has come out of each incident unharmed. Sardonically yours Who has two thumbs and would recommend this case? this guy |
