Answer: | The signal loss depends on several factors: - Frequency of the signal - Thickness (diameter) of the cable - Length of the cable - Number of connectors between the radio and antenna For short distances (10 feet or less), the signal attenuation at 3G/4G/LTE frequencies is negligible for most applications, so LMR100 or LMR195 sized coax is appropriate. At longer distances, thicker coax cables are required to minimize signal loss. To prevent excessive signal loss, shorter cables should NOT be linked together to make a longer cable. It is best to use a single cable whenever possible. It is also acceptable to use a thick cable for the long portion of a cable run and a short thin cable to connect to equipment or antennas, but always try to minimize the total cable length and number of connectors. We recommend LMR195 coax for assemblies up to 10 ft, LMR240 for lengths up to 25 ft and LMR400 for lengths up to 50 ft. 7 dBi gain antenna upgrade with heavy duty magnetic base and 11’ cable for BearExtender PC
This is a heavy duty magnetic antenna docking base with 11 feet of LMR-200 shielded coaxial extension cable and a detachable 7 dbi gain blade antenna. The connectors are RP-SMA. It is an optional upgrade for the BearExtender PC long range Wi-Fi USB adapter and will also be compatible with other brand equipment that has an RP-SMA antenna port.
Better placement = better signal
Because of the magnet base and cable, you can place this 7 dBi antenna up to 11 feet away from your BearExtender. A strong magnet in the base allows for easy positioning. Signals carry better when the antenna is higher up and in a more open area.
Premium shielded coaxial cable
Unlike cheaper base options, this includes 11 feet of LMR-200 shielded low loss extension cable built into the base to limit your signal gain loss. Simply unscrew the existing antenna from your BearExtender PC or compatible RP-SMA device and replace it with the cable from this magnet base.

Answer: | Thank you for your question. Currently, this item is only available in combo format with both base and antenna. The manufacturer understands that some buyers may need shorter or longer cables. Bearifi does not currently offer different length options due to the cost of manufacturing and warehousing all the different options. They determined that a shorter cable is often not useful because you cannot get the base very far away from the WiFi adapter or router you are using it with. As another commenter noted, going too long results in an unnecessary gain loss for users that don't need a longer length. What you can do if you need longer is buy a separate 200 or 400 grade shielded RP-SMA male to RP-SMA female extension cable to use in conjunction with this base. |

Answer: | Hi,It is not rated for long term outdoor use. You should be fine with limited exposure. Long term exposure (weeks and months) will lead to corrosion to the connector.
