Answer:	Nope. I have them attached to an HP desktop that was running Window 7 when they were installed.I then installed Window 8 and then upgraded to 8.1.Lastly, I installed Windows 10 and had no problem with the drives under any of the systems.

Question:	Does it work with mac
Answer:	I do not use it on Macs, but I do not think it will work on a Mac as it comes to you, because it is formatted with the NTFS file system. This means that a Mac can read and play files from the hard drive, but cannot write (I copy to or save) on it. You could buy the hard drive and re-format it to FAT32, but I don't know if that works for 1TB. You would need to google on how to do that. By the way, I love this hard drive. USB 3.0, attached cable, awesomeness.

Question:	how does data encryption work
Answer:	Encryption is basically encoding information in a way that only the person or computer with the key can decode it. Algorithm's provides the directions and gives a certain range of possible combinations to create the encoded message. A key is a sequence of digital bits that works with an algorithm to encrypt and decrypt the message. basically if you have something on the external hard drive that you don't want others to see if it was stolen or for any other reason encryption keeps them out. you need the key to be able to look at the items / files on the drive.
Question:	Will this drive work with the Xbox one? My main concern is that this drive is unformatted, and most compatible are shown as NTFS. I would think that since the Xbox automatically re-formats the drive during initial installation unformatted, NTFS and FAT32 would all work, is this correct as well
Answer:	Yes. I've been using the 1TB version on my Xbox One for at least six months now with no issues. I had the Xbox format it, just in case, before use. The downside of USB-powered drives is that its max RPM is 5400, so the install and load times are slower than the on-board drive. If you want faster install and load times of your files/games, you'd have to get a 7200RPM driver, however those need external power (In other words, they have a wall wart which could be unsightly or you might not have an outlet available nearby.)
Question:	Does it show up like a drive with a letter when you plug it in? Like the old external drives used to
Answer:	Your operating system will auto assign a drive letter to any storage device detected. So, in Windows - Yes, ALL Windows versions will auto assign a drive letter. Once connected you have the option to assign a drive letter to it for all future connections (like P: for portable) rather than take the default.
Question:	Is the software with this device compatible with Mac's Time Machine
Answer:	You will need to reformat the drive to HTFS+ which is easily done with disc utility. Time Machine can not back up to FAT32. Macs come with all the software needed already installed and it's easy. There's no need to use 3rd party software.

Answer:	Yes, you can connect drive to USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports on the computer, but note that USB 2.0 will be MUCH slower

Answer:	The d2 Professional has no fan at all.

Answer:	This drive is not slow at all - you have your megabits and megabytes confused. USB 2.0 has a max speed of 480mbps, which is 60MB/s, while USB 3.0 can push 640MB/s and this drive is 240MB/s, which is excellent for a single HDD (non-SSD, non-RAID) as most similar drives work in the 180-220MB/s range. Also please keep in mind that with any hard drive, the drive itself is usually the limiting factor in transfer speed. Meaning any single drive is typically not capable of reading/writing data at anywhere near the published max speed that the interface is "capable" of. You have to get into an SSD or multi-drive RAID setup to start really utilizing what today's faster interfaces like USB 3.0 and 3.1 are capable of.
