Answer:	It should work with Windows 8 though I only used with Windows 10. If you insert a DVD and a video player does not start up, you may need a player that will recognize the drive. On a recommendation from a friend, I installed "VLC media player" and this app opens when I insert a DVD into the Riodadas player. Answer:	Same thing happened to me. I tried to connect it to 2 different MacBook Pro laptops and the device kept making grinding noises, unable to read the dvd. The dvd was stuck for over 20 minutes and I kept tapping the top of the device (as instructed) before it finally ejected the disc. Neither MacBook was compatible with this device.
