User questions & answers

Question: Some pictures of this show the front as a brushed aluminum and some pictures show it as a smooth cover. Is the front of this case smooth or not
Answer: The front of this case is brushed aluminum.
Question: How many 3.5" hard drives will fit in this case
Answer: I fit 3 3.5 drives and a 2.5 SSD as well as a cd drive in mine. But in order to this you need to not utilize one of the side fans at the top (left side)
Question: Is this case suitable for a monitor resting on top
Answer: This would be ideal for a light monitor - the structure is solid, but wouldn't support a heavy object on top.
Question: I'm confused about the dimensions. Amazon lists dimensions as 22 x 18 x 11 inches, and another seller says 17.32"x14.09"x6.69". Can someone verify
Answer: Using a tape measure, I measured mine. Its 17.25" x 14" x 6.75". This is total outside dimensions. Obviously since I was using a tape it may be +/- a few tenths. Looks like the other seller is correct.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this come with a power supply? If not, what would be recommended
Answer: Does not come with a power supply, but it's very flexible. Just make sure if you get an ATX motherboard that you get an ATX power supply (or micro, mini power supply). I'm using a non-modular that will require a lot of cable hiding, but there's plenty of space to hide cables out of the way.
Question: Can someone give me the exact specs to this case like width length and hight and also how much room is there for a CPU cooler
Answer: Everything you request is listed in the manufacturer's info above for the Cooler Master Cosmos II, but some of it conflicts with these answers. For example, CPU cooler height is shown as 190mm/7.48" (not 6.5mm/2.5"), which is more consistent with the large size/width of the case itself. It seems like these comments are not all about this case, so I suggest anyone considering it do his/her own research.
Question: To anyone who built in this case, and installed a non modular psu, how was it? I was thinking about buying a non modular sfx
Answer: I did. A PC&Power Cooling 1KW SR PSU that's about 12-15 years old and still going strong. The unused cables, just folded each cable and zip ties them and tucked them behind it. The PSU is huge too. It almost reaches the bottom HDD cages. Another benefit of this case as it won't fit in a lot of cases.
Question: Can this support three(3) red LED 80 mm fans? thanks
Answer: I believe it will only support two 80mm in the lower rear section of the case. The other rear fan on the upper section is a 120mm fan, as are the front two (or four if you double up with a radiator.) There is also a 240mm fan mounting on the top.

User questions & answers

Question: Product Dimensions: 20 x 17 x 7 inches ; 11 pounds". Does this mean this case will be much wider than your average home theater receiver
Answer: 2x 5.25" optical bay that can be converted to hold 3.5" HDDs with brackets internally. 2x 2.5" flat above it, and finally 10x 2.5" vertical, or those same positions can hold 7x 3.5" with airflow inbetween.
Question: Can this case fit an ssd, 5.25 drive bay, micro atx motherboard, atx psu and a gpu
Answer: It's been awhile since I put my together... I currently have one SSD as the OS Drive, one 3.5 data drive and if I remember correctly it's using up all the space on that mount. There is a 5.25 bay which I'm using for a Blu-Ray drive, but I'd imagine you could get something like a 3.5 to 5.25 adapter and get your 3rd drive in there that way. Page 3 in the manual (6 on the PDF) will give you a better idea of how the insides are laid out: http://www.silverstonetek.com.tw/downloads/Manual/case/Multi-GD05-Manual.pdf
Question: Does this case support regular size power supply
Answer: I maxed out the fans in my HTPC. I added two more 120mm and 2 x 80mm. I am using a Noctua NH-L12 Low-profile Quiet CPU Cooler with 120/90mm Dual PWM Fan. I did not use the 120mm fan for on top of the CPU. My temps while playing a movie are 38 degrees C for the CPU and the motherboard stays at 31 degrees C. As for noise, with all of these fans, it is a bit noisy. Does it interfere with music or movies. I have never noticed the fans while listening to music or a movie is playing. I have 9 hard drives in my unit. Heat is an issue, but not with these fans. My hard drives are at 91 to 100 degrees F. Without all of these hard drives and using the stock fans, I cannot hear this unit at all. In my opinion, if you add one up to four hard drives, you have nothing to worry about. Silverstone is sensitive to the fan issue and uses a 9-blade fan to move the air. They are quiet. If you add the 80mm fans, that's where the noise comes in. Think of a stock AMD fan. They are typically banshee screamers. DEFINITELY change the CPU fan to a low profile, after-market fan.
Question: Should I install 80mm fans as intake or exhaust
Answer: 17-1/4" W x 12-3/4" D x 6" H. 13-1/8" D if you include thumb screws.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I put a disc drive in it
Answer: The power supply sits behind the 5.25" external drive cage. The case is 13-1/4" deep. If you use a conventional internal optical drive (6-3/4") you have only 6-1/2" for power supply and cables. Most ATX power supplies will be a very tight fit, so consider a compact ATX PSU like the Corsair CV series. I used a fanless power supply which is oversize (6.7" deep) so to fit a DVD drive I resorted to an ICY Dock MB343SPO with a 9.5mm laptop drive.
Question: Can liquid cooled cpu radiator with dual 120mm fans fit with a ATX motherboard
Answer: I installed an intake fan since my power supply has a 120mm fan that is providing the exhaust functionality. That setup seems to keep everything pretty cool (

User questions & answers

Question: Does this case come with two windowed panels or just one
Answer: just one. you can position it on either side or on top.
Question: Will this fit a gtx 970, with a 97motherboard for the intel i7 4970, with an ssd 2.5in ? and does this come with fans
Answer: I have a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming Edition (very long), so I believe all gtx 970 will fit. The motherboard only has to be MATX form and it doesn't matter what size of the cpu as long as it's compatible with your motherboard. There are 3 HDD drive cages (can also install ssd) + 3 SSD slots. It only comes with a 200mm fan in the front and it is loud. I would recommend good static pressure fans (140mm or 120mm your choices) - I used Enermax TB Silence PWM fans (dont buy the 900rpm version because to me they don't move enough air through the air filters) and they are dead silent if you're into that. Hope this helps :D
Question: What are the actual case dimensions? in inches, amazon says (l x w x h) (15.4 x 15.4 x 19), thermaltake says (h x w x d) (13.2 x 12.6 x
Answer: I'm not sure what those numbers are from Amazon, but Thermaltake's numbers are by far closer to reality. Actually, I think Thermaltake's numbers are pretty much spot on, but the height and length numbers they're quoting have the back thumbscrews and bottom legs included. The actual shell itself, yielding usable space, is roughly along the lines of: L x W x H = 16.25 in. x 12.6 in. x 12.6 in. Again, those are rough numbers, but when you add in the thumbscrew and leg lengths, you end up with approximately the measurements given by Thermaltake.Amazon's numbers are simply wrong.
Question: Will the cooler master hyper 212 evo fit
Answer: It depends. The mATX Core 21 will fit the 212 Evo. But, the mITX variant, is too short to fit one.

User questions & answers

Question: Can the airflow be good? I want to put a 9900k in it but that generates up to 250w
Answer: Yes.
Question: Can you put a full size gpu like a gtx
Answer: Unfortunately, I used a Ryzen 4 core processor that keeps very cool with the included fan, so I don't have a good answer for that situation. I will say that I am delighted with the case. It is very solid, and very quiet. It also looks excellent in the stereo system.
Question: The dimensions seem large for a low-profile case. Did they mess up and give dimensions of the outer box? What is the actual dimensions
Answer: The "Product Dimensions: 20 x 17 x 7 inches ; 11 pounds" listed under the "Product Details" section are wrong. The metric dimensions listed above by the image are correct 440 mm (W) x 105 mm (H) x 350 mm (D) and convert to 17.3" W x 4.1" H x 13.8" D. It fits inside my home theater cabinet but make sure you remember to give 1-2" clearance behind it case for cable connections. The depth was my most limiting factor. It's a very nice compact case and I was able to build my first HTPC with it in about an hour.
Question: What power supply fits in this case
Answer: Hello,This case will support:Micro-ATX MotherboardsStandard ATX PSU (140mm depth limit)Two 3.5" drives (also compatible with 2.5" if needed)One 2.5" driveOne 5.25" drive (also compatible with one 3.5" or two 2.5" HDD/SSD)Four Low Profile PCIE slots with a width restriction of 2.95"Just make sure that the GPU that you put into this case has a low profile design when picking your components. Alternatively if you would like a case that can fit a full sized GPU, we would suggest that you look into our ML07B or ML08B cases.

User questions & answers

Question: Does a msi gtx 1060 6gb fit in this case
Answer: As long as you have good low-profile heatsink. It's very narrow. Low profile is key. 250w is a measurement of electricity
Question: One of the images makes it look like the back fan space might actually fit a fan larger than the 80mm the case comes with
Answer: I think the answer is 'maybe'. There isn't a dedicated slot for a full size GPU but with a bit of modding - it might fit. If you are after a mini ATX case with full size GPU capability, look at the small silverstone tech cases (eg FTZ001) or the Fractal Design Node 202.
Question: Can you put in two Hard Drives plus an optical drive
Answer: Correct dimensions of the case in centimeters: 35,6 x 33,8 x 10,2.
Question: How big is it when compared to a cereal box
Answer: It requires a TFX power supply.
