The A plug fits standard computer USB ports and just about all chargers. The B plug is the standard D-shaped micro plug. I own 2 sets of these in different lengths that I use with my wife's older Samsung phone and with a 2-year-old Samsung tablet. I own another set that are terminated with the newer USB-C plug for a newer LG phone. (USB-C is the micro connection that is NOT D-shaped. It can be unplugged, rotated 180 degrees and plugged back in with no difference.) All have proven perfectly satisfactory. However overall USB cable length is limited. I quote from the the internet: "The USB 2.0 specification limits the length of a cable between USB 2.0 devices (Full Speed or Hi-Speed) to 5 meters (or about 16 feet and 5 inches). The 3.0/3.1 specification does not specify a maximum cable length between USB 3.0/3.1 devices (SuperSpeed or SuperSpeed+), but there is a recommended length of 3 meters (or about 9 feet and 10 inches). Answer:	Hi. No direct experience with the Envy 13 but I confirm it works perfectly on a Lenovo E580 which has the same USB C port. The Lenovo's USB C port is also the charging port and this adapter performs this function too (power pass through). In the case of the Envy 13 it looks like there is a separate power port so you would have at least two cables attached to the machine when 'docked'. I would be surprised if there were any problems with the Envy. Hope this helps!

I have windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 installed as dual boot and this adapter is working perfectly so far. I have simultaneously connected Ethernet, VGA, USB 2.0 and Power port. Its working in both operating system. My laptop was fully charged, so I can't say it was actually charging or not, but it said its plugged in to a power source. Charging speed might vary depending on how many ports you are using parallely.
