Answer:	The button toggles between four built-in partitions. That is not the problem. I have an identical problem where you insert the card but the system does not see it. That is because due to poor design, the contacts are not connecting. Try either pushing the card down towards the ground or upwards towards the sky. You should notice the gamecube will suddenly recognize the card. For me, that usually does the trick, though I may have to repeat once in a while. You could also try to wedge something inbetween the memory card and the slot to keep the connection stable. Good luck!
