Sometimes it's SD cards, on most phones it's via data network, and on a device like this it would have to be either build into the system or on some sort of an SD card. I do not believe it can communicate with cell data networks to get directions or maps. |

I had the smaller 4" wireless one first from another manufacture and it was hard to see and did cycle on and off every once and awhile. If your young with good eye sight you might like a smaller unit, this one is big but I like it better than the small one. Hope this helps |

In this scenario, with the screen powered on and nothing connected all you will get is a blue screen but connect the included camera to the video input on the screen and supply 12v to the camera and the blue screen will disappear and be replaced with the video from the camera. Power both camera and screen from the same source and they will turn on and off together (this way you will never get a blue screen). Connect them to the vehicle's backup lights and they both will turn on when the vehicle is in reverse. I drive a cargo van and have mine connected so that it is on as long as my engine is running, that way I can see behind me while I am driving. |
