I have my two cameras mounted high enough that it would take some effort to get them off these mounts, and long enough that I would have video of the theft, so I'm not too worried. I would definitely recommend these for outdoor use over the magnetic mounts. Those are great for indoors, but not at all secure outside. |

| Answer: | Yes. Some cameras come with 40-60 feet of cable while others have none. Check the "what's included" in the description. IN about 60% of applications the 60 foot cable is sufficient unless you have a two-story residence then you will need to purchase an additional 100 foot cable just in case. Of course 100 feet will not all be used but the price for an additional 60 foot versus 100 foot is very minimal so its best to have leftover versus 10 feet too short. As for the additional equipment.. yes, you will need a camera DVR system. Q-see has good systems with some models very economically priced. If you buy a system always buy one that you can expand if you want to later. If you need 8 cameras buy a 12 channel.. If you need 12 cameras buy a 16 channel. Never buy exactly what you need. You cannot upgrade easily for fixed systems. You simply replace it or add another system to add cameras unless you plan for expansion and get one in advance with enough channels to allow for growth. Unless you buy a software package with a PC card you will also need a monitor to view the cameras. Another way to use the cameras is on your personal server/cloud. Qnap offers a range of models which accept coaxial camera input. Each camera also requires power. The camera may or may not come with the required plug in transformer. Check to make sure it does. If you are running more than 4 cameras you might want to invest in a power/transformer box.
