Reading the manual which has a typo reads : Operating Temperature -20ºC ~ 60ºC (-4ºC ~ 140ºC) Should read : -20degC to 60degC = (- 4 deg F to 140 deg F ). I live in Anchorage Alaska. I have owned 2 High Speed 1080p Tracking dome cameras. The first lasted over a year then froze when defrosters failed. 2nd cam defrosters failed after 10 months both Cams are rated for -35 deg F. These are rate for -35F. This Foscam wont make Alaska temp @ -4deg F. My defrosters in my Imporx or Sunba Tracking cams (which both brands are basically same Chinese Cameras) burn up and fail after 5 months of very cold weather (20 deg F to -32 deg F) . I have a Sunba high speed dome in backyard (Looks like big smiley face) that has no tracker option and for some reason has lasted over 2 years running 24/7. That is why I am scrutinizing this camera, I wanted one that is rated for -72 deg F, But I am 99.9% shure the seller is wrong answering this question after reading the manual to this camera.

Question:	Is there anyway to adjust the brightness/contrast of the camera (other than night/day selection)? My backyard is too bright- everything is washed out
Answer:	This issue can be fixed, by going into camera settings, power frequency where you can set it to outdoor mode. Also, new firmware is released that has optmized this issue, you can upgrade firmware to have a check. Email to [email protected] if you still don't know how to set up outdoor mode.

Answer:	No monthly Foscam Cloud subscription is required. We offer several other options to view recordings, including FTP, www.myfoscam.com, SDCard and NVR.
Question:	Is this camera good for outdoor ? Is it waterproof
Answer:	They are not rated for outdoor use, however I have had 3 of these cameras located outside my cabin in Colorado for two years now. The secret is to not let them get rain or snow on them. I have mine under eves and a porch and they have worked flawlessly for me. Our temperatures here range from 90°f down to -25°f. Again, though they are an indoor camera, it would be at your own risk.
