User questions & answers
Question: | Will this lens work well on Rebel T3i without a tripod? I'm not sure if IS function is performed on lens or inside the camera |
Answer: | Telescope is 20" in length and height is 26". D focal ratio I dont know |
Question: | Would this be good for hockey- I have difficulty finding the right color balance and a lens that is fast enough |
Answer: | You can only see craters on the moon with this. If you want to see planets, you would have to go in the $250 range. This telescope is a perfect introduction to stargazing. |
Question: | Is this better than the 70-300 IS NON-L lens? I am thinking of upgrading but do not know it it is worth it or if I should just get a 400mm prime |
Answer: | No you can't see anything. This telescope is crap. Wish I could get my money back for it |
Question: | Will this lens work with the canon eos 40d |
Answer: | Yes. You have to align the telescope by using the finder scope to center on 3 stars first. Then, anything you pick on the remote will make the telescope automatically move to the object and, more importantly, track said object. |

For sports or nature photographers who relish this flexibility the Sigma 150-500mm is unsurpassed with 25% more reach than the smaller 120-400mm, this lens is perfect for the photographer working at long distances and with subjects such as backyard birds or small wildlife. This unique lens is an excellent optical performer featuring three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements for optimum color correction and sharpness throughout the entire zoom range, rear focusing system corrects for fluctuation of aberration due to focusing and Optical Stabilization and high speed Hyper-Sonic Motor to help you take the eye-catching photographs you’re meant to. Compatible with the Sigma APO Tele Converters.
The Sigma 150-500mm ultra-telephoto zoom lens covers a telephoto range of up to 500mm, letting you bring almost any subject close for short-perspective shots. The lens employs Sigma's original Optical Stabilizer (OS) function, which gives you access to shutter speeds approximately four stops slower without blurring the image. As a result, you can capture low-light, long-distance shots such as football plays, wildlife profiles, and landscape scenes without using a tripod for each photo. In addition, the lens incorporates a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for quick, high-speed autofocusing, along with a rear focus system that guarantees optimum image quality throughout the entire zoom range. And photographers will love the three special low dispersion (SLD) glass elements, which correct for chromatic aberration, and the super multilayer lens coating, which reduces flare and ghosting. Other details include an option for full-time manual focusing, a close focusing distance of 86.6 inches, and an 86mm filter size. Compatible with optional 1.4x and 2x tele converters--which produce a 210-700mm length or 300-1000mm length respectively--the Sigma 150-500mm lens carries a one-year warranty.

Isolate the Interesting Part
The eye tends to see the whole rather than the individual parts. It also sees whatís near and not whatís far. By bringing attention to those things missed by the eye, you can create many interesting pictures. It could be the grimace of an athlete, the grill of a classic car, or a girl against a blurred background. Telephoto lenses can also compress images to give dramatic effects. You are limited only by your imagination.

Question: | How do you rate this lens on EOS 5D Mark III? DXO mark rates the Tamron SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD Canon much better |
Answer: | I would rate this as one of Canon's best lenses on any camera. I don't know the DXO mark scores, they tend to overly focus on numbers that don't always translate well into the real world. They probably aren't wrong, I'm sure they score the Tamron high in IQ (rightfully), and it gets bonus points for having VC (the IS of Tamron). Since this is the non-IS 70-200mm, that alone is probably why it outscores it. But let's put them both in real world scenarios where they both apply... This 70-200mm is a super fast to focus lens with top notch IQ. It is meant to be used at fast shutter speeds, fast enough that IS is not needed most the time. So if you are shooting a lot of action at fast shutter speeds (lets say, 1/1000 or faster), then the only thing that really matters at that point is how fast the lens can focus. This is where the Tamron falls short, as it struggles to find focus in servo mode, and is not quite as fast or accurate as the Canon. If you are more often in situations where you are shooting at lower shutter speeds, like 1/60 or slower (nature shots), then IS is more of a factor. Even then, I would say to go for the F4 IS version of the Canon, as it is even sharper than the F2.8 with the same amazing focusing, but also has 4 stop IS and is cheaper than the Tamron. If you intend to use it for portraits, then the Canon is better here too, since it has no focus breathing. This means that 200mm is 200mm on the Canon, but on the Tamron as you get closer to your subject for bokeh, 200mm is more like 130mm due to focus breathing. The Tamron is a good lens, but is tough to beat Canon's 70-200mm lenses. |
Question: | Would this lens work for high school sports inside and out on a cropped t3I Or would the f4 work just as good |
Answer: | I see this is an old answer, but I bet a lot of people have this same question…I have a T3i, and the 70-200mm F2.8L was my first truly great lens. To answer your question directly, it will work well on your T3i, and is good for both indoor and outdoor sports. It is the lenses ability to shoot in low light that makes it worthwhile in your case, since the wide F2.8 aperture will allow far more light onto your sensor than the F4 version will. (Of course, that makes it more than twice the cost.) For indoor sports though, the F2.8 is the only way to go here, as I am not sure the T3i can push the high ISO you would need on the F4, not without creating significant noise in your photos. That all being said, there are some other things I would like to point out…1. Once you go L, you never go back – An exaggeration, but seriously, L level glass makes kit lenses look like Fisher Price children’s toys (another exaggeration, but a good one). If you are serious about improving your skills, then this is a good place to start. The cost is high, but the value is too. It will add a depth to your bag that I would guess you are lacking, and that is the ability to shoot in low light, as well as a blazing fast autofocus (like, ridiculously fast), and image sharpness that will blow you away. 2. T3i autofocus will struggle – The t3i is a very solid entry level camera, and mine served me very well for 5 years. Then, I decided I wanted to get more action and nature shots, so I got the 70-200mm F2.8L. Even though it was great for this, the trouble was that I had to shoot dozens of shots in burst mode in hopes of getting a handful of keepers. This was because the AF system on the T3i was not up to the task. The 9 points just weren’t enough; either I would miss my focus because the wrong point picked it up, or I would miss it by trying to use a single point and wasn’t able to get it on the subject fast enough. Eventually I got an 80D, and the 45 point cross type AF was everything this lens needed to work at its highest potential. That isn’t to say you can’t get a 9 point focus to work for you, it just takes some work, and will be a little frustrating. That being said, I would ALWAYS recommend upgrading your lens before your body, as the lens is what truly unlocks the body’s potential. What good would a 45 point AF system be to a lens that can’t shoot action?3. To IS or not to IS – I’m sure you have seen the much more expensive IS version of this lens, and the slightly less expensive F4 IS version. For my money, the non-IS F2.8 was good enough. IS is for shooting handheld shots at slow shutter speeds. If you are shooting action, then you won’t need it, as your speeds will likely be 1/500 sec or faster, at which point IS is useless. It can even be detrimental, since it takes time for the IS motor to activate. The F4 IS, in my opinion, is more a niche market lens. I feel that for the money, the F2.8 is a better deal. This is because I can always find a way to stabilize my camera (tripod, monopod, sturdy surface), but F4 can never be F2.8.4. It is so much more – This lens is amazing. Super sharp quality, and creamy bokeh will make this your go to lens for almost everything but wide shots. I use mine to do portraits along with everything else, as the way the light is compressed through the barrel gives a very flattering look, as well as the bokeh I mentioned before. I have always been satisfied with this lens; I can see myself using it for years to come. Not sure what you chose to do, but I hope whatever it was, you got some good use from it. |
Question: | What´s the diference between this lens and the 70-200 is? wich is like $600,00 more expensive |
Answer: | The 70-200 IS has image stabilization. The 70-200 does not! |

Experience the complete joy of shooting with a compact, ultra-wide-angle zoom
This ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C DSLR cameras offers the finest of all Tamron worlds: best-in-class* 10-24mm focal length range (the 35mm equivalent of 16-37mm), the compact size of our previous SP AF10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical [IF] (Model B001), plus vastly improved optical performance. It also includes state-of-the-art Tamron technology like VC (Vibration Compensation), a new HLD (High/Low torque-modulated Drive), Fluorine Coating, and Moisture-Resistant Construction. Combine this with exceptional resolution on everything from detailed landscapes to casual snapshots and you have a next-generation, wide-angle zoom that’s ready to go wherever your photographic vision takes you.
Excellent optical performance across the entire zoom range
The optical design includes 16 elements in 11 groups. A new large aperture aspherical lens and LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements deliver exceptional resolution across the complete zoom range— combined with stable imaging across the entire frame. The lens also corrects comatic and transverse chromatic aberration, as well as distortion that often crops up on other wide-angle lenses. Together with Tamron’s unique BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating, which improves light transmission and suppresses reflection and dispersion on the lens surface, this new ultra-wide-angle zoom has been entirely reimagined to control flare and ghosting. The result: clear, crisp images, every time.
VC lets you go wherever your vision takes you
Tamron’s unique VC (Vibration Compensation) technology makes it easy to enjoy handheld, wide-angle shooting, even in low-light environments such as evening and indoors. While maintaining the compact design of our previous Model B001, Tamron has optimized the actuator and control algorithm in order to incorporate VC into our new Model B023. Now you can unleash the power of high quality imaging, without worrying about your images being spoiled by the jittery effects of handheld shooting.
HLD meets highly precise AF
With this lens, Tamron introduces the HLD (High/Low torque-modulated Drive) AF drive system. The excellent driving power of the all-new HLD enables stable and precise focusing, even with the large focusing lens elements used on Model B023. What’s more, the Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to make fine adjustments—without having to switch from AF to MF mode.
High performance packed into a compact body
A shortened overall length vastly improves optical performance while maintaining a compact size—even with advancements such as VC and the newly developed HLD. When combined with an APS-C DSLR camera, this lens packs a world of performance into a lightweight, portable body.
- Minimum Object Distance:9.4 inches
- Angle of View (diagonal) - 108°44'-60°2'(for APS-C format)

Question: | Does this work for a Canon T6i |
Answer: | Yes, the Canon T6i supports APS-C lenses. |
Question: | Will this lens work on a cannon eso 60 d |
Answer: | The image circle is small, to accommodate crop-sized sensors. It is intended for a 24mm-sized frame. Yours is only 21mm. Question: | Does it auto-focus with the Canon TC x2.0? And for the TC x1.4, does it only work with center focus |
Answer: | No, you will need to manually focus with the 2x TC since you will be at f/11 with this lens/TC combination. The new 100-400mm II handles the 1.4x TC nicely with my 7D mkII and 5D mkIII, but since you are at ~f/8 you can only use the center focus point. |
Question: | I have a 70-200 2.8 and am thinking about this one for high school baseball , football and soccer to get more close ups. Anyone use this for sports |
Answer: | 100-400 is too slow for indoor shots. Recently, I shot photos at my kid's soccer game. Even using a 70-200 2.8 I had to increase the ISO to 6400 to have fast-enough shutter speeds to capture the movements. I got many good but very grainy images. For actions, 2.8 is the only way to go. |
Question: | I like shooting action and I have a 70-200. Will buying this 100-400 be legitimate |
Answer: | That depends on the sport, your distance from the action and aperture you want. I shoot a lot of action too, softball, baseball, gymnastics, rowing, etc. for me, my 70-200 lives on my camera. However; if I want different perspectives, like a picture from center field to the batter - I will switch over to the 100-400. I also need it for the reach at most rowing events. That said, I still prefer the 70-200 for the speed and sharpness. Perhaps I’m just more comfortable with that lens. |
Question: | Whats the difference between this and the older version? Just basic key points |
Answer: | Among the changes from the Mark I version are* The zoom mechanism now uses a rotating ring (like most other Canon zoom lenses), instead of a push/pull system.* The Mark II version also features a new lens hood with a side window, making it possible to adjust specialty filters (such as polarizers and variable neutral-density filters) without removing the hood.* The tripod mount can now be removed while the lens is attached to a camera body. The Mark I tripod mount can only be removed when the lens is detached.* The IS system has three modes instead of the two modes of the Mark I. The third mode (which Canon calls "Mode 3"), designed with action shooting in mind, is similar to the mode used for panning ("Mode 2"), except that stabilization is applied only during exposure. * The lens is slightly taller, wider and heavier than the original.* The EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM uses a totally new optical formula with one Fluorite and one Super UD element. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this lens compatible with a canon 1dx mark ii |
Answer: | Hello. I take a dish rag, pour alcohol on it, place it inside the unit. I then use a long wooden kitchen spoon to move the rag around to clean the build up. For the harder to reach areas, I have a long thin brush that was originally purchased in a 3 brush set to clean my fish tank. Those work great. I also use q-tips dipped in alcohol to clean the inside of the detachable parts. Hope this helps |
Question: | I have a canon rebel T7, is this lens compatible with my digital camera |
Answer: | The opening isn't large enough to get your hand inside. I just fill it about half full of vinager and swish it around to clean |
Question: | Does this include a tripod mount |
Answer: | I have three of these units for over three years ... Extra Strength cleaning Vinegar (no bleach) ... Two cups and a sponge (small foam brush will work, also) ... I have large hands ... Rinse with Hot Water ... I fill with Reverse Osmosis water ... I live in Las Vegas, NV ... It's dry heat ... |
Question: | Is this compatible with Canon Mirrorless M |
Answer: | It just goes low to high, I set mine on high round the clock, I have a fire burning most of the time in the winter as well as the heat pump, so it stays extremly dry in the winter here. I use mine in the bedroom, but am considering getting another one for the family room. |

The Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens is highly practical and ideal for a range of applications including portraiture. Its fast f/1.8 maximum aperture is effective in low light and ideal for shallow depth of field focus control. An ultrasonic autofocus motor (USM) provides fast, smooth and quiet AF action and because the front lens group does not rotate during focusing, polarizing and special filter effects can be used effectively.

User questions & answers
Question: | What do the green numbers on the top mean in the slider |
Answer: | Measurement in feet. You will not go wrong if you purchase this lens. I love it! The clarity is excellent. It takes a while to get the focus exact, but once you work with the lens you will not know how you did not buy this sooner. |
Question: | Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM or Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM? What distances can you shoot from the subject for each (trying to determine best for my needs |
Answer: | Closest focusing distance is 0.85m or 2.8 ft. for the 85mm f/1.8 and the closest focusing distance for the 50mm f/1.8 is 1.15 ft. or 0.35m. Depends on your style of shooting but the 85mm f/1.8 it's better for portrait. |
Question: | Does it come with the lens hood |
Answer: | No, must be purchased separately. I have understood the ET65III hood is the only that fits on the 85mm f1.8 |
Question: | So many reviews! Can someone semi pro tell me if this focal distance is worth the purchase if you already own the canon 50mm f 1.4? I have a 7D and a full frame 5D and I use the 50mm on both. I am looking to gain that "better bokeh" mainly. Thoughts? Thank you |
Answer: | This is one of my favorite primes that I own. It not only has a really nice bokeh, and great contrast and color rendering. But it also has a very flattering perspective. It also makes most peoples faces look a bit better. Something about 85mm makes the face a little skinnier, while also compressing the area that is in focus a bit. It's heavier than most other 'Ultrasonic' EF primes. But this just makes it balance well on a 5D, 6D or 7D. Until you step up to L series you will have to deal with a bit of chromatic aberation and vignetting. Though that is a simple task if shooting raw. The 50mm is a bit more natural perspective compared to 85. But you also have to get right up on a subject with it. The 85 lets you get a similar shot from a few more feet away, which makes the subject more comfortable. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the hood included when buying new |
Answer: | Yes. The hood is included. |
Question: | Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 Di VC USD over this lens for $800 less |
Answer: | I bought a Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 a couple years ago and use it on my 70D. A couple months ago I rented this Canon 24-70. I did some testing with both, shooting the same things in various lighting conditions. I loved the Canon. It's bigger and heavier which you definitely feel if you are carrying the camera around all day. The focus is super quiet and unbelievably fast. And the images are great. But I didn't think they were very much better than what I get out of Tamron. If you are on a budget you won't go wrong with Tamron. If you have to have the best go with the Canon. |
Question: | Need to get replacement hood, any recommendation? i am looking at jcc ew-88c. any suggestion |
Answer: | 4 reviews. I would call Adorama or B&H. Sometimes they have open box original hoods for cheaps. More information is available on http://techexperience.net/go/canon/ |
Question: | Will it fit in these lense pouches? http://amzn.to/2lEyGXU |
Answer: | Yes, it will fit in the 4x7.1 inch pouch! That said, I can also throw in the original lens case that it came with from Canon, which is a nice, leather (or pleather - not sure which) padded drawstring pouch. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How is this performance for low light photography like indoor wedding or sports? I like the F2.8 version, but considering this one for portability |
Answer: | It is an f 4, is half the light of an F 2,8. The stabilizer is amazing but not enough in some low light conditions. Maybe in some weddings, but not in sports. I suggest you to rent one and check the performance you need. I love this lens. |
Question: | Will this work with canon rebel t |
Answer: | Why not. The t6 supports both ef and efs lenses. Keep in mind that there is a crop factor of 1.6 on the t6. Effective range is from 112mm to 320mm. A nice telephoto range. |
Question: | Will a tripod ring from the older versions of this lens fit the new one |
Answer: | I have the canon tripod ring from my old 70-200 and fits perfectly on the new one. |
Question: | Does this work with the cannon 6d mark ii |
Answer: | This will work GREAT with your 6D Mark II! It is a perfect range for a general telephoto and light weight. I really appreciate that when I’m packing a 16-35mm f/2.8, a 24-70mm f/2.8, and a 70-200mm. The F2.8 version is fairly heavy and I don’t usually need the larger aperture. Excellent construction and performance. |
