Answer:	It's about like the K-30; you have to get one of Pentax's magnesium body models (k-5, K-3, K-1) to get that nice quiet shutter.

Answer:	Any K mount lens will fit, but you will have to set the aperture manually on M series lenses and older. Series A lenses will work in fully auto mode. You have to set the aperture ring to the A setting, and set the camera to work with non-auto focus lenses. FA lenses (which were designed for full frame 35mm) will work as well as brand new lenses. DFA lenses are designed to work with crop-sensor DSLRs such as this one.

The included Pentax instructions in the lens box clearly states that the PH-RBC62mm lens hood is provided and it shows how to install it on the lens. It appears that the provided Pentax lens hood was removed from the lens box before it was shipped. Not good. I will return it.

Question:	Does offer 4:3 aspect ratio shooting mode
Answer:	I took one on a trip to Bahamas last year. It lasted 2 day with snorkeling. So the answer is no. I had used it many times for white water rafting and kayaking. Love the camers. I have gotten same kind of camera again. I also had a second water camera Olympus quit working in sea water.
Question:	does the pentax KP comes with astro tracer
Answer:	i do not know exactly. what do i know is that staff you purchase comes from different places and each shipping store sends whatever they feel like. be aware warranties, returns and exchanges are all different for all the shippers. be aware!!!

HD & SP Coating

By applying the latest HO Coating and redesigning coating totally for this product, flare and ghost ca used by mutual reflection of lens surfaces are effectively minimized. Although this lens has wide angle of view, it barely gets affected by strong light source such as sun, and is reborn as a lens with clear depiction. SP Coating is applied to the front surface of the first lens element, it not only protects the lens from dust, water and grease, but also makes it easier to wipe these substances off the lens surface. It is also highly resistant to abrasion and scratch, helping to keep the lens in prime condition.

Inner focusing

Conventional interchangeable lenses employ an all•group shifting system, in which all elements of the optics shift during focusing. The JF system, however, shifts only part of the optics during focusing. Since this can reduce the lens's overall weight -which the motor has to drive during autofocus operation - it not only assures faster AF speed, but also shortens the minimum focusing distance to improve imaging performance in close-up photography. It also eliminates the change in the lens length , maintaining the ideal weight balance regardless of subject or shooting distance- a great advantage, especially with super•telephoto lenses.

Quick Shift Focus & ED Glass

Effortlessly change the focus mode from autofocus to manual simply by turning the focus ring during AF operation, instantly switching to manual-focus mode to allow for extra-fine focus adjustment - extremely useful in close-up photography. Extra-low dispersion ED lens elements, normal glass lenses tend to divide the incident light into its various color components, as a prism would do. This happens particularly at the edges. adding unwanted color fringing to the photo. Question:	Does this come with a lens hood
Answer:	It's a 50 mm fixed lens. I am able to get fairly close to subject and focus, but not macro

Answer:	Yes it is. I'm using mine with a K-3.
Question:	is this compatible with the K-R model
Answer:	This 50mm will give a shallower depth of field and better low light performance since f1.8 gives a larger aperture than f2.4, but the 35mm f2.4 will give a wider angle of view which would be useful indoors in tight spaces or taking full body pictures in small venues (since neither of these lenses will zoom in or out). The 50mm f1.8 will produce better chest up portraits and will give an even more blurred background at it's f1.8 aperture value, and is nice for outdoors or larger venues. I shot a talent show in very low light with a 50mm 1.8 and it still got me close to the action sitting 10-15 rows back. I wouldn't recommend the 35mm f2.4 for up close portraits because it will give a less natural looking face (a persons face will be more distorted with a larger nose at 35mm than at 50mm). I personally would go with the 50mm, and when in tight spaces you can always turn your camera 90 degrees to portrait position and fit more of the subject in the frame; this has worked well for me.
Question:	Is the a DA lens with quick shift or the DA L that comes with the K-50 kit? It says quick shift, but I wonder what people have recd
Answer:	The letters stand for the quality of the glass and the assembly of the lens. The "AL" lens is the lowest quality, and is the slowest (f/2.4) lens. Slowest because the aperature only opens to 2.4, so at a given ISO, you will have to use a slower shutter speed. The DA f/1.8 is a great lens for everyday use and is fast. The "FA" is for full frame cameras. If you have a crop sensor camera (Pentax K- series) you don't need a full frame lens. The f/1.4 is larger (faster) than the f/1.8, but you don't need the full frame option if you are using a crop sensor camera. If you have a full frame camera (35mm sensor) you need the FA lens, the others will not work.
