User questions & answers
Question: | does this 20 mm lens have stabilization built in, I do not se any mention of that |
Answer: | Hi,there, in most cases,it works with a ftz adapter. |
Question: | Why is this newer version of the 20mm less expensive than the older plastic version? Seems like it should be more right |
Answer: | Yes and no. It will work, but you're better off using a DX lens for DX camera if you're using it as a portrait lens. Search "Nikon DX portrait lens) and those lenses typically cost significantly less. In other words, since the D3200 is a crop camera (DX and no FX) and this lens is for full frame, you wont get the same focal length. you will have to make adjustments on the camera for any full frame. I would say it makes to invest in this lens only if you plan to upgrade to full frame camera or at least use one some time in the future. The only focal length that works the same on both DX and FX is 50mm. Hope that helps. |
Question: | will this fit on Lumix DMC-G |
Answer: | This lens will absolutely work on the Nikon D5000 |
Question: | I am a novice but since the mm is smaller would this be a wide lens compared to the default lens that came w my g |
Answer: | I believe so. It’s the noisiest lens I ever used, ever noisier than an old school budget zoom 2.8 from Tameron without VR. The robo noises can be heard frik far away. I have no complaints about the picture quality for the price range though. Just not the best option for fast action or anything where you need to be quiet. Great for budget equipment and beautiful portraits though. I’m pleased to use it instead of any 2.8 zoom lens or any wider fixed lenses. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this compatible with the DMC-G6KK |
Answer: | I would not use this lens for sports photography . . .fixed 100mm on a full frame camera (160mm on crop sensor) is very limiting if subjects are much of a distance away and will produce images that will require considerable cropping if you want a close up final image or print. I actually sold this lens because I found I hardly ever used it . . .The best use for this lens is either portraits or macro photography . It excels ay both of these applications. My choice for sports photography is current 70-200 zoom f4 sometimes used with a 1.4 tele-extender . . . Just my $.02 worth |
Question: | Will it work with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF |
Answer: | Make sure you have the switches set correctly. There are 3 switches on the lens, you may have inadvertantly moved them when you switched bodies. The top switch has 3 positions: full, 0.5-infinity and 0.3m - 0.5m. The full position allows the autofocus to seek over the entire range of the lens. The second position locks out macro, allowing it to autofocus on 'normal' subjects faster. The third position does the opposite - it locks it into macro mode so it can autofocus on macro subjects faster. The second switch switches between manual focus and auto focus. The third turns images stabilization on and off. I would test it again on your 60D after making sure all the switches are set correctly. Test it in good light on a subject with high contrast. It may be worthwhile to clean the contacts on your 60D with a pencil eraser. You may also want to check if there is a BIOS update for your 60D. If it still doesn't work, you may need to contact Canon to have your 60D serviced. It's not likely to be a problem with the lens since it works fine on your other body. |
Question: | Is this fit in GF |
Answer: | The T3i is a great camera but a lens really makes all the difference. I use this macro often on a crop frame 7D similar to your T3i and had the opportunity to use it on full frame cameras too. It's fast, quiet, and the IS is fairly new (1 year old) and defiantly worth having especially on a higher focal length of 100mm. I would say this is one of my more popular lenses I enjoy. |
Question: | If you had to choose one panasonic prime lens for your mft camera - would you get this one (25mm) or the 20mm f1.7? main use: portrait, night, street |
Answer: | Yes, the Canon ET-73 clip on plastic hood |

User questions & answers
Question: | Panasonic H-HS043K LUMIX G 42.5mm f/1.7 Asph. is it made in Japan |
Answer: | Not as good as a makro lens. I love this lens it stays on my camera 95% of the time. |
Question: | Is there a difference between us and international version? is it ois |
Answer: | Approximately 3 feet, minimum. |
Question: | When I slightly shake this lens it has an obvious rattle. Is this normal or is mind defective |
Answer: | The Canon 75-300 is arguably their worst lens - it is a cheap kit lens that is usually bundled with the 18-55mm lens on their consumer DSLRs - i.e. EOS Rebels and XXXD model units. As has been said already it lacks IS, and is actually designed for a completely different purpose - it is a medium-to-long range tele lens, is slow and had poor optics. The 18-200 is designed as a walk-around lens, i.e. one that you might take when you want only one lens for a variety of purposes, such as traveling. As the review sites indicate, this is an ambitious range as it incorporates moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto all in one set of optics and it comes with compromises - but many of those can be resolved in camera or in post processing with applications such as Photoshop or Lightroom. It DOES boast 4 stops of IS (I would never buy a tele lens without IS). Optically this is a far superior lens to the 75-300. If you are considering a lens purchase you need to ask yourself a few questions: 1. What is your budget? 2. What are you trying to capture? There is a big difference between lenses for shooting indoors, portraits or wildlife. If you are just starting out and are not sure, I would suggest going for the Canon 18-135 IS STM model - it's got much newer tech and optics and is a good walk around unit. 3. What are you going to produce? There is a big difference in the requirements for posting images to social media or multimedia devices compared to producing large, high-resolution prints. 4. What are you prepared to carry? There is no point in getting a large outfit if you leave it at home. 5. Where do you want to take your photography? If your intent is engage in this seriously then consider the best glass you can afford. Camera bodies change almost annually and lose their value quickly, but lenses last far longer. If you have a crop sensor camera, such as a Rebel or the X00D, X0D or the 7D series then you can use either the EF-S lenses (designed specifically for crop sensors) or the EF lenses (designed for full-frame bodies). Among the EF-S lenses the best general purpose lens is the 17-55 IS USM 2.8 lens. It is big but has a large aperture that makes it work well in low lighting conditions. There is no really great APS-C tele zoom, but the Canon EF 70-300 F4-5.6 IS II USM lens is an excellent unit. Top of the line in EF units is the L (Luxury) series of lenses designed for professional work. They are robust, dust and moisture resistant, and have great optics. (The EF-S lenses have excellent glass but because of the design of the crop sensor they can be made more cheaply and they are not weather resistant). When considering the numbers for a lens you should note that the numbers indicating the focal length on a lens (e.g. 18-200mm) indicate the Field of View (what the sensor sees) for a FULL FRAME sensor. Any crop sensor sees less than a FF sensor, so to get an idea of what a crop sensor will see with ANY lens attached to it, you need to multiply the focal lengths and aperture values by the crop factor (1.6). Thus the 18-200 lens will still generate a FoV of 18-200 but what the crop sensor will CAPTURE will be Equivalent to 29-320mm. If you want to understand this principle more see the DPREVIEW article: https://www.dpreview.com/articles/2666934640/what-is-equivalence-and-why-should-i-care |
Question: | Is it worth buying if i already Have the 25mm F |
Answer: | This is a good lens just to be used in trips and you want be light. At night is not a good option. 3.5 at 18 but increase dramatically once the zoom is used. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this manual zoom, or can i use a camera app to zoom remotely |
Answer: | Yes. It will. This lens fits all the Canon bodies which has white square marked on lens adapter side. |
Question: | Does the fit the gx |
Answer: | Yes, it will, your camera can use all EF and EF-S lenses. There is a newer version though, the EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM. There are some fairly important updates to the STM version; here is a list of the most important ones… 1. STM v Micro motor focus – The IS ii has an out of date focusing system, which is slow, noisy, and seeks for focus too much, especially zoomed out. The STM focus is faster, smoother, and nearly silent. It also supports continuous focus in movie mode, but only the t4i and newer models. The barrel extends during focusing too, and the IS ii is a bit wobbly fully extended, and the STM is much sturdier. 2. Rear Focusing – the IS ii version has a front element that rotates during focus, a problem if you are trying to use any kind of filter that needs to be positioned in a specific way. This makes it challenging to use a circular polarizer and graduated ND filters. The STM version uses rear focusing, and the front element does not rotate, which eliminates this issue. 3. Improved Optics – There is a noticeable difference in image quality from the IS ii and the STM version. The STM is sharper at all ranges of the zoom. All this does come at a cost, an increase in cost to be exact. The IS ii can be had for a little more than 100 USD right now, and the STM is 300 new. If you already have the IS ii and have no intention of getting a higher quality lens (like the EF 70-200mm F2.8L), then it might not be a bad idea to get the STM version. If you don’t have either, then it is no contest, get the STM, as it is possibly the best telephoto for under a grand. If you would like more info about the 55-250mm lens, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the lens, and even has suggestions for lenses that might work better for you if you have the budget for them. There are also sample images taken with the lens. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1QA3NW3157QWO?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp |
Question: | Could you simply list only what the 'new' version changes/improvments are |
Answer: | I know this is an older question, but I see a lot of similar questions and want to put some info here for everyone to see. Sports like soccer, baseball/softball, or really any outdoor sport played in decent light can take advantage of lenses like this. The limits of the aperture make it more challenging for indoor sports like basketball and volleyball. But for soccer, you really can't do better than this lens for its price. There is also the 75-300mm lens that sometimes gets bundled with cameras, but I really think this lens is better in almost all ways. Better image quality, better focusing, and also has IS. On a crop sensor camera, both will have plenty of range for soccer. I actually have used a 55-250mm for soccer, and it did fine. Plenty of reach, and plenty good photos. Will it be professional quality? Well, no, but it is pretty good for what you will pay. There is also an updated version of the 55-250mm, the IS STM version. It has some nice upgrades, but is over twice the price new. You can find them on ebay or refurbished for about 150 USD, so if that is ok with you, then I would recommend it. It's probably the best telephoto for less than 1000 USD. If you would like some more info about the 55-250mm lens, you should check out my review on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use it, and also has suggestions for other lenses that might be better for you. There are also sample images, and it is the #1 review on amazon for this lens. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1QA3NW3157QWO?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp |
Question: | What's the main differences between this lens and the previous version |
Answer: | I know this is an older question, but I feel this is an interesting one with some very different answers, so I am going to go ahead and leave an answer... To answer your question, this is not a macro lens, though it has a pretty good close focusing distance, about 8-9 inches from the end of the barrel. So, you can place it fairly close to your subject, zoom in a little, and probably get some detail. If this isn't going ot be enough, here are some suggestions... Best method - Get a macro lens. Depending on your intended uses, there are a few options. There is the EF-S 60mm F2.8 macro USM, and the EF 100mm F2.8 macro USM, or if you are ok with third party lenses, the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM. For product photography on APS-C, the 60mm is a good choice. But for tiny objects, like insects, coins, and similar sized things, then the 100mm or 105mm are the better options. I personally prefer the Sigma, since it is stabilized and is about the same price as the Canon 100mm. I actually have a review of the 60mm lens on my profile where I do a comparison with the 100mm, and give a breakdown of when one might be better than the other. Less expensive method - Get Extension tubes. For 80 USD, you can get a set of Kenko extension tubes, which reduce the minimum focusing distance of a lens. This allows you to cheat the focus and the magnification of the lens, thus making a makeshift macro lens out of jsut about any lens. Not as good as a true 1:1 lens, but for 80 bucks it's worth a shot. Plus, if you have the 50mm F1.8 STM, it works very well in this format. One caveat though, be aware that some sets of tubes don't have power supplied to them. These sets will not be compatible with STM lenses, or any other kind of lens that requires power to focus. They also remove other functions from the lens, like aperture control, and IS. I would say for the money the 80 dollar set is a better idea. |

User questions & answers
Question: | is the polarized lens ND and is it any good |
Answer: | Yes, it and all other lenses made for "micro four-thirds" ("MFT", "micro 4/3", etc.) are compatible with all MFT bodies in terms of the bayonette mount, although Panasonic and Olympus have different approaches about what functions to put in their lenses vs. in their bodies instead - so, in general, many Olympus lenses work better on Olympus bodies, and many Panasonic lenses work better on Panasonic bodies (even though they share the same mount and electrical contacts). |
Question: | I have a dmc-gx7k. will this work lens work with my camera? if not, does anyone know the appropriate lens to get (would like 2.8 35-100mm |
Answer: | Yes, I actually used it on my GF5... it does look very disproportionate, but it works the same as on any other m 4/3 camera |
Question: | Will it fit lumix dmc g5k |
Answer: | Is this fit in GF3 |
Question: | Has anyone used this with a gx85? i curious if it's too large to be comfortable with that small of a body |
Answer: | The 20mm focus speed is not terrible. It is a bit loud and not suitable for video. I have both and like both. I find I use the 20mm more often. The Normal Lenses, I never really liked all that much. Just because it is the normal view for an eye doesn't mean it is all that useful. I like 42.5mm for portrait, and one of my most used lenses is the 7-14mm. Back to the 20 mm. You can use it for portrait but it's not as good as the longer lens. My recommendation. Get the 20mm and add another lens later. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this lens compatible with leica cl?this camera is not a full frame one |
Answer: | It should work fine. You have to take the crop into consideration though. It would be a 35mm - 155mm roughly on the CL sensor |
Question: | Will the lens image stabilization function when connecting to the camera without stabilization such as leica sl, leica cl, leica t etc |
Answer: | Thank you for your inquiry. For the S-R24105 Lens, it has built in stabilization, so it will work when attached to another manufactures camera, such as Olympus or Leica. Compatibility and non-functionality can occur when trying to in-body stabilization of a different manufactures camera in conjunction with the lens stabilization in the Panasonic Lens. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between the black and silver versions of this lens? There's quite a price spread! Are they the same |
Answer: | Yes, it is compatible with Canon T3. |
Question: | Hello, if I mount this lens on GX7 body, can I zoom the lens using Image App on iPhone |
Answer: | Yes, however, it is a full frame lens so on the t6i the crop factor is important. This lens will be a 80mm f1.8 on the t6i. It WILL work perfectly but the focal length is the longer 80mm on that camera as it will be on all Canon APS-c sized sensor cameras. It is only a 50mm f1.8 on a full frame Canon Camera like the 5D series. |
Question: | Will it fit and the i o stability on olympus air 1 work |
Answer: | Yes this lens works on all 3 of my cameras: Rebel XT, T5 and 7D mk2 |
Question: | I have this lens on a blackmagic studio camera, and it looks amazing. is there a way to turn off the auto-fstop |
Answer: | I bought this lens because I thought I my Canon lens had been stolen, but it turned up. Now I have both. I did a comparison, shooting the same scene using a tripod. I looked closely at the two photos in Photoshop. The sharpness was identical. Chromatic aberrations, which weren't bad, were the same. The only difference was that the Yongnuo was brighter even though the exposure settings were the same. I'd say half a stop brighter. So you could use the same aperture as the Canon but use a slightly higher shutter speed or lower your ISO. It's a great alternative to the Canon. |
